A must for every suburbanite in the Chicagoland area! While the place in its hayday was an awesome site. Today it seems to focus more on looking impressive than being impressive. ...

High Energy Spot 1/9/2011

I was an avid club goer when Crobar was still around. Its Energy was something that is a scarce commodity in Chicago now. Everyone who used to go to Crobar on Saturday ended up going to Vision because it is the only place that matches the same energy and Music Talent on a weekly Basis. Crobar will be missed for what it used to be. Now, (The Vibe) Is marketing on the pop / Urban side of the market bringing in pop / rap artists in to celebrate and preform. Which is still a good time. But not really right for the European market. more

Forget it 7/29/2010

Used to be the best spot in the city... now it's one of the worst, plus the bouncers should be locked away in a zoo. Pros: Used to be awesome Cons: Ain't so anymore more

WORST CHICAGO CLUB EVER!!!*** 1/3/2010

So we were in town for the weekend of New Years Eve 2010. The night of saturday January 2nd we decided to go to this Club Called CROBAR. We were staying at a hotel downtown chicago and took a taxi to the establishment. As we arrived things started to not look very good. We has received free admission passes from the hotel, as we walked up to the bouncer at the door, i could already tell from looking at the outside of the place that it wasnt looking so nice. We gave him the passes and he stated that they were having a day after new years hangover party and we had to pay $10 to get in a peice, there were 4 of us and 16 more on the way. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. We persisted to tell them that we wanted VIP and 2-4 tables after all parties join us. The bouncer than called his "PROMOTER". What a douce bag!! When he came outside he asked us what we wanted to do, after telling him how many were coming he said best he could do is $175 per bottle of Belvedere and a bottle of Champagne. Ok.. Not bad right...?? WRONG>>> We get inside and wow may i say for this being a chicago night club, it was so discusting and let down. He takes us to our so called VIP section were we were sitting right next to all the other people that payed $10 to get in and were buying $1 drinks!! Now comeon.. So i see a NICE VIP AREA by the dj booth which would of held 20 people nicely. When i asked him if we could have that area he said it was booked already. Ok fine, but funny thing is after being there for an hour and a half nobody ever sat down there, Way to lose 20 people and over $2000 in sales, on with the story... We get our bottle which came in a Metal Belvedere bottle, REALLY??? Your supposed to open the bottle in front of us. Tasted like cheap vodka that they probally poured in from a $10 bottle. Now what? Your already there , your bottle is at your table, what else could go wrong right? We take a glass to pour the vodka in, sticky, dirty and someones lipstick was still on it!! GROSS!! At this point, im pissed, angry, feel like im taken advantage of. So i ask our waitress to just give us our bill....SHE comes out with the receipt and it was for $244!!! How did it go from $175 to $244!! So guys, im not on here to write a story, or to get revenge on this place, but ive been to alot of night clubs in my life, and have promoted many Club Parties, Thats NOT how you treat your people. Esspecially people that would of bought 8 bottles and would of spent over $2000. We ended up going to Sound Bar afterwards which treated us like KINGS!! We ended up speding over $2400 saturday night. Sorry CROBAR but you guys need to either fire your promoter or change your standards. Pros: Would Never go back. Ready Below. Cons: Everything. more

Fun club to chill at 7/22/2009

I had a great time here - sound system was incredible. Pros: Great dance club Cons: Next door to a real boring gentleman's club more

Very Unproffesional Staff!!!! 11/9/2008

I reserved a table and free entrance for 25 people with the club promoter. First, at the entrance they said that they will let in only 12 people for free before midnight, not 25 as I scheduled with the promoter. The other thing was that we went inside and there was no table reservation for us. I went there with 9 people and we were waiting for 6 more people. We walk up and down to look for the table and there was no reservation made for us. Then I went back to the front door to talk to one of the bouncer. One of them came back inside with me and we start to walk around with the 9 people up and down and look like idiots. Then he said to one waitress from upstairs to look for the table for us. She point to me a table upstairs that only one person was able to sit at. Then I ask her to bring us the champagne and she lied to me that they are out of champagne. I said that this is a joke and I went back to the guy outside. He came back inside with me and called the waitress back and tells her to bring the champagne. Then he let us sit at a table downstairs, but he said that we can stay there only till midnight. After midnight he came back there and he said to 15 of my guests that we need to leave the table. Everyone was shocked. After we all moved from the table the table was empty. Nobody was sitting there till we leave the place at 3 am. All of the people I invited said that Crowbar lost all of them as customers. There is so many nicer and professional places in Chicago. That this was very unprofessional. more

Good Music on Saturdays 10/30/2008

I would say go for it on Saturdays, if you like to dance. The crowd is good, with a few cheesy 40 year old greek guys in gold chains who bring prostitutes into the club. Ignore them, you'll have a good time! Pros: Music Cons: Some of the older crowd more

expensive drinks! 10/8/2008

I'm more into the Industrial scene, but this club was okay. They played popular music, there were a lot of people, a balcony, and they stay open until 5am. However, $11 long islands = too expensive in my opinion. Pros: ambience, music Cons: price more

Crobar set quotas for the number of blacks allowed inside and selectively uses dress codes to enforce that 4/18/2008

Patterns of discrimination still exist the nightclub Crobar put this in full effect this friday. The nightclubs Crobar set quotas for the number of blacks allowed inside and selectively use dress codes to enforce that. My friend that is white was throwing a birthday party at Crobar all his white friends where allow entry but all his blacks friends including I wasnt. We asked why and the bourncer gave each one of us a bogus answer. It was a special model night and as well as us some black model where denied entry, asked bouncer why and told them they were wearing the wrong ear rings. more

Best Place to go on Saturday Night 2/21/2008

This is without a doubt the best club on Saturday night. If you like bangin' electo house music then this is the place to be. Mixin Marc is on the decks throwing down every Saturday with Nathan Scott in the Suite. DJs from all over the world come to Crobar to spin when they come to Chicago, like Rogen Sanchez, Erick Morillo, DeadMau5, Robbie Rivera, and more. If you're looking for the best clubbing experience in Chicago this is it. more

Solid House Music 12/24/2007

Crobar is awesome for people who love house music: Fedde Le Grand, David Guetta, Peter Gelderblom, etc. The club has a pretty nice sound/lighting system, although it pales in comparison to the system at Space in Miami. The go-go girls are a nice touch, as they energize the environment. As usual, the drinks are expensive, and it can get pretty crowded. The girls range from 6s to 9s, and the crowd is very Euro (international, whatever), which I personally like but others may not. I've gone only on Saturday; I think the DJs play more mainstream music on Friday. And there is plenty of parking in the area. Pros: Music, Sound/Lighting System, Atmosphere Cons: Expensive drinks more

Do Not Book a Party Here 12/16/2007

Worst club experience ever. Not only do they have prejudiced, arrogant, and pretentious staff, they lack organization skills as well. When booking my bday party here, not only did they fail to send me a confirmation email, they spelled my name wrong so my people at the door were unable to get in free and did not come thru with drinking bracelets and instead gave us bogus tickes that were good for only a 1/2 hour. When my hispanic friends got there, they gave them tickets to drink for Free, and when my black friends got there, not only were they going to charge them for the bracelets but entrance too. When I went to inquire about the confusion, I was told to "stop complaining, go inside and drink.' When I asked for the manager or to get his name, all staff suddenly not only forgot their own name but their bosses too. Do Not Book a Party Here... The last thing I needed was to be treated like I was nothing on my own birthday... I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Decor Cons: Everything else, service, staff, organization, drinks (weak), etc. more

A great place for nightlife 9/15/2007

An all around fun time. 20$ cover isn't that bad, if your not signed up on their e-mail list then it's half price or free with the text that they send to your mobile. So if your in Chicago for a night or you live any where around the city jump in the car, take a cab or do what ever you need to do to go out and have a great nightlife experience. Pros: people and dancing Cons: not the greatest for parking more

Crobar 1/28/2007

This place is really, really bad starting with the people working at the door: If you like to wait for hours before you will be let in, pay a lot of money than this is the place your choice. I hate this place and will never go again. Chicago has much better places to offer. more

Had a great time! 11/16/2006

I was at Crobar for the cut & paste show a couple of weekends ago. Pretty sure that the trendy design crowd isn't Crobar's usualy clientele but the place was great--the bartenders were fast, the drinks weren't exorbitant (I mean c'mon... this is Chicago, we should be used to 6 dollar beers) and the DJ was bangin. I'll definitely be back for a night of partying with my girlfriends. Pros: fast service, cute crowd Cons: parking more

OVER RATED! 11/12/2006

watered down drinks, creepy bartenders, power trip bouncers and door guys, theres more people in the VIP then in the club. And on many occasions haven't followed through on their so called "specials" or "deals" or "packages" more
