Best jukebox in the city for 15 straight years 2/25/2011

the Comet is one of the best bars in Cincinnati hands down. They serve a San Francisco style burrito that is the size of a small child along with a selection of other Tex-Mex foods. There is always a half dozen craft beers on tap with a selection of 150 bottle beer to chose from. The atmosphere is friendly with all kinds of people in the place. They have live music most nights with great Bluegrass Music on Sunday evenings. Check their calendar on line at cometbar. When there is n live music there is the best jukebox in the city and that is not just my opinion. City Beat readers vote it best every year. more

This place is super over rated. 12/16/2008

Everyone is all over this bar but it's really over rated. Their burritos are made with fresh veggies but with shredded chicken. I don't think they even have a grill. They are decent but only if you're drunk. I'm not a fan of bluegrass so the music doesn't do much for me and the smell of body odor is a little too much to bear. Yes they have a great beer selection but it doesn't help when you can't get served. It's not that their service is bad it's NON-EXISTENT! Pros: Great beer selection Cons: Terrible, horrible, attrocious service. more

Bluegrass & Burritos! 1/27/2008

When the Comet Burrito was invented, I don't think anyone said "let's create the most authentic burrito in town." Instead, I'm pretty sure the plan was to create the most delicious thing that you can wrap in foil, and then give you chips with it. As a rule: ALWAYS ORDER THE SALSA OF THE MONTH. more

Best burritos and beer selection! 11/13/2006

The atmosphere is quaint, but the beer selection is extensive and the burritos are fantastic. A great place to watch live music! Pros: Great food and beer Cons: A little tricky to get to more

killer beer selection 7/3/2006

great bar and great beer selection, There are always good bands playing and there is never a cover. the juke box is great. Best bar in cincinnati without a dout. Pros: great beer selection Cons: smokey and needs a broader menu more

Enough Already 5/17/2005

I don't even know if you can call this cash-only warm can of beer place a BAR. The best part about this place was the laugh I let out when I realized that everyone there looked like Joey Ramone. This place has strange people playing strange music, and somewhere someone forgot that being some oddball rocker only works if you have talent. If you graduated from High School, College, or even received your GED, you are likely too cerebral for this evironment. This is for the kids that were beaten by the school nerd. Yuk! Cons: music, atmosphere, crowd more

Northside has it all 10/16/2003

Northside has it all, best little bars, best music store, best little shops! This place is a great after work bar. The beers come in a full range of flavors and so do the patrons. Love the diversity, music choices and the food goes great with it all. The parking is always a challenge, but worth the search. The atmosphere is laid back so it's a nice relief for the work stressed. Pros: beer selection, juke box, community centered Cons: parking more

Love this place! 1/29/2003

The closest you can get to a real city bar...in Cincinnati. I always felt 'The Comet' had a vibe that other local bars lacked. After moving to the Pacific Northwest in '96, my thoughts about The Comet were confirmed. Real cities like Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco have Comet-like places all over town. It's too bad Cincinnati only has one, but typical of a city that's unwilling to accept change/diversity. Probably the best jukebox in town is here. Great beers/micobrews too! IPA's, Ambers, why would anyone drink lager? Treat yourself. Visit The Comet. Pros: the Jukebox, the Beer, the Crowd Cons: the seating, the parking more

The Comet is cool! 12/4/2002

The Comet has great national acts as well as local bands. It's just an all around great place to go. more

Don't understand,Don't go. 9/21/2002

It is a safe and unless there is a band playing a place that you can talk to the person next to you. If you enjoy Mexican food this is the place to go the menu is diverse enough to meet anyones diet. If you are looking for something to drink there are over 150 kinds of bottled beer and Guinness, Harp and Speckled Hen on tap. If you are craving something with a little more kick the bar is well stocked with anything needed for anykind of drink. There are three pool tables for an activity other than sitting. If you are expecting the newest, loudest get crazy kind of place this isn't it , but if want to go out get something to eat and enjoy being able to talk to the people around you try The Comet. more
