They are great! 9/16/2011

Dr. Bregitzer and the staff are the best. They are caring, thorough, gentle and clearly very experienced. I've brought a few different dogs in, and each time it's more obvious that he speaks their language. He never pushes expensive treatments or unnecessary tests on my dogs like other vets I've been to, and he always explains the treatment options and what he's doing during the exams. They are quick and efficient too! more

Miraculous Recovery 9/8/2011

Diva, a foster dog we just took in, just made a miraculous recovery from a broken leg. Her recovery would not have been possible without the generous work of the doctors here. They are professional, compassionate and capable. They never treated her like a foster dog. Our sincere thanks! more

Don't take your animal here! 8/4/2011

I could tell you my long drawn out story but if you have read any of the other reviews you know to stay away. I am sorry I did not research this vet clinic and did not read all these reviews.....it would have saved both me and my poor dogs! This group is not in this business because they love and value pets! There are many vets in Littleton, none of them can possibly be this bad. more

Get over it!!! 8/11/2010

I disagree with previous reviews. I have been going to Columbine for about 10 years now. That's right YEARS and have not had a problem with them. My dogs are alive and well living beyond the average life span. Why is that hmm I take care of them at home and keep up with their vet appointments. They do not over vaccinate the shot you are probably talking about is the Bordetella which is recommended to be given every six months by the vaccine companies not Columbine. Maybe you should do some better research before bashing people I did that is how I know. I feel bad for Columbine for all the bad reviews I see because of the prices. Guess what people it is not cheap to own animals now days believe me I have three large dogs and two cats. If I remember correctly there are signs for estimates in all the rooms I have been in no it does not make it better but at least they are not robbing you blind. I had my german shepherd in there a few years ago for a gastric surgery(not cheap) but guess what it had to happen. So the next time you want to complain about your shortcomings at this place just keep in mind the place has been open for 35 plus years. They must be doing something right. more

Horrible Vet, No Ethics 8/5/2010

I agree with the other reviewer. They don't even deserve one star. This is probably one of the worst vet hospitals in Denver. After finding another vet office, I learned from several other vets that Columbine Animal Hospital is well known for recommending unnecessary procedures and treatments. My dog caught a virus at the Furry Scurry and $2000 later... They kept her overnight, recommended tons of medications, etc. She recovered so I am thankful for that. I have also learned that the overvaccinate pets. We were taking her in for shots every 6 months (did not know any better) until they gave her an overdose and she nearly died. I had taken her in on a Saturday and a few hours later, she couldn't walk, stand, anything. I was completely freaked out and called them, and learned that they were not open in the afternoon but that I was welcome to bring her in and pay for an after hours treatment. What could I do? Of course I brought her in and again, this woman vet says, oh we need to keep her overnight, etc. etc. which I knew she did not need (I had talked to a breeder friend of mine) and I knew that she only needed an antidote and be brought home to rest. This lady proceeds to work up three estimates of care and suggests I choose. $500 $1000 $1500. FOR THEIR MISTAKE? If you love your pet, I would never recommend that you take your animal to this facility. Not only will they charge you an arm and a leg, they recommend and administer treatments that are dangerous for your pet. more

WORSE VET EVER - INACCURATE, DISHONEST, and UNCARING 7/17/2008

This is THE WORSE VET I've EVER been to!! First time I went in there because my PetRats have the upper respiratory almost all PetRats have, and they were having one of their flare ups, which I know Baytril fixes and any good small animal vet can just look at PetRat and listen to their lungs and know they need Baytril. But they insisted on unnecessary tests! Then did what I told them they needed - gave them Baytril. Then lately my female had a lump, so they did some tests again and said she had a cyst! I knew they weren't cysts, so I took her to another vet, who knew right away they were tumors by just feeling them an noting they were on the mammory glands, where they usually get tumors. Not only did they misdiagnosed my PetRat, but totally overcharged me too. First time I had taken her in it cost me 15 dollars and they called it an exotic exam. Next time I took her in it cost me like 50, and they called it something different. When I asked why, they first told me that the exotic exam is for small animals like PetRats, and the other exam is for dogs and cats. When I explained that it was a PetRat, they told me they'd have to call me back. They then told me i was a mistake the first time and 50 was what it shoould have cost me. ********!!! I swore I'd never go back there, but my new vet precribed my male baytril for his upper respiratory again, but he doesn't like their flavoring and loved Columbines'. So my vet asked them to fill my prescription so he would take his meds. After accepting the prescripting, the one vet refused to fill it because she hadn't prescribed it and she had never seen him. But the other doc had seen him and prescribed him baytril before - and this was a small animal specialist telling them he needed it - but rather than caring about my pet and doing what only made sense - they refused to fill it and now my PetRat doesn't have any medicine tonight! DON'T TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE!! THEY ARE UNCARING ******! Pros: the flavor of their baytril Cons: the vets and the office staff - dishonest, inaccurate, unknowledgable, uncaring - ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE more
