Best

There a many places in SF that serve mimosas but none do it quite as well as Circa. Bottomless mimosas are only $9 with purchase of an entrée, and at an average of $10 per entrée...

Worst

This corner has had a bad run of unsuccessful restaurants. At least the folks at Cosmos were trying to make you feel welcome...Circa, not so much. Don't bother with a reservation ...

$9 Bottomless mismosas! 3/18/2010

I have been back to this place a few times for brunch, mostly for their cheao $9 bottomless mimosas. The food is just ok. There is nothing here I absolutely love. The hashbrowns look like the frozen kind you buy at the grocery store. It's worth it for the cheap drinks though! Pros: Bottomless mimosas Cons: Food is so-so more

Breakfast Sliders & Bottomless Mimosas... Yes Please! 3/16/2010

There a many places in SF that serve mimosas but none do it quite as well as Circa. Bottomless mimosas are only $9 with purchase of an entrée, and at an average of $10 per entrée, this is one of the best deals in town.\r \r Not only do they serve bottomless mimosas, but the servers give you a carafe for your table (multiple carafes depending on the size of your party). The service is great which is surprising considering how busy they are during brunch. The food comes out rather quickly and you are never left waiting with an empty glass.\r \r For a place where most people only come to drink for cheap, the food is pretty good. It’s not really anything to write home about, but I really enjoy the breakfast sliders and the turkey club.\r \r As most of these reviews state, it does get VERY crowded, so I recommend making a reservation.\r Pros: Bottomless mimosas for $9… enough said Cons: The bar is always fully stocked with ""Marina"" guys more

Bottomless mimosas! 2/27/2010

Went here after a quick stroll in the area looking for Christmas presents. We were hungry and the big sign out front said ""bottomless mimosas"" (with purchase of brunch) AND ""eggs benedict""... key words for me and the boyfriend (respectively) on a Sunday morning on vacation.\r \r The eggs benedicts were really good; they had a ""benedict sampler"" that was perfect! You could choose from a variety of takes of the classic brunch staple. You can't go wrong!\r \r And, well, bottomless mimosas. 'Nough said.\r \r Only thing I was annoyed about was how crowded it was---because they were making everyone sit in the bar area since, apparently, some ginormous parties had reserved the dining area. Can I just tell you, I walked in, had at least 2 mimosas, was served my food and was almost done when the party FINALLY arrived. Rude.\r \r But c'mon. Bottomless mimosas for $9. Yessuh. Pros: Duh, the mimosas. And the eggs benedict(s). Cons: Crowded, unnecessarily more

Very Cosmopolitan 12/1/2009

Good Music and good drinks. It has a Hollywood type feel.Check it out. Pros: Many People Cons: Very Crowded more

Great Bar Scene 3/28/2009

The eye candy is great on the weekends but it is very busy. The weekend brunch is not to be missed. Casual and friendly. Pros: Bar Scene and Weekend Brunch Cons: Very Busy more

HORRIBLE Service 1/31/2009

Went here with 5 friends tonight. Won't be going back. Not a big fan of the Marina to begin with, so if this is your 'hood this might be your kind of place. These were my problems:\r \r * The waitress was mediocre at best.\r * The wine list was ridiculously expensive; cheapest wine $49 and not a lot of variety.\r * Waitress placed the bill on our table right after she served us dessert; not after we were done.\r \r But the worst was that somebody sent over the head bus boy to tell us (nicely at least) that there was another reservation of 6 and could we please wrap it up soon. I have NEVER had this happen to me before...even at a Denny's or other common coffee shop. We might have talked for 10 minutes after dessert when the bus boy came over to our table. We were going to leave within minutes regardless. \r \r We spent well over $350 and then were asked to leave 10 minutes after we finished dessert!\r \r Never going back. Pros: Good Food Cons: Expensive Wine List more

The WORST EVER!!!!!! 10/17/2008

To all those looking to have a great dining experience, I would definitely avoid eating here. I have eaten at Circa many times, and have enjoyed it very much, however on 10/16/2008, things have changed for the worse. The service was lousey, and the quality of the food was very poor. I really do not care for fast food but believe that Burger King would have been a better choice that evening. It was a horrible and frustrating experience and I will never go back and suggest that if you are looking for a nice restaurant to have a great dinner that you look elsewhere. The North Beach area is full of much better quality eating establishments.\r My partner and I even spoke to the chef, but he had nothing to say, and was very rude when we tried to explain that things had changed for the worse. So this is definitely a place that I will ever go back to, and am only writing this in hopes that others will be spared the horrible experience which I encountered. more

Terrible customer service 12/15/2007

so bad costumer service, do not not not go...waitress are rude , doorman fools around with customers. the store should be closed. more

bad customer service 6/1/2007

I went here recently for an event that I paid for and my jacket was stolen from the bathroom. Granted, I left it in there for merely 10 minutes, but the lack of regard from the hostess and manager makes me never want to return to this ""Marina"" joint. I even had a sentimental bracelet in the pocket. When the manager finally offered me his card to follow up with him the next day, I emailed him and heard nothing back from him. Not even a polite ""sorry, we didn't find your jacket"". I will never go here again and will not recommend to anyone I know. Recently I left my phone in a dive bar in Hayes Valley and 2 days later it was still there, turned in by a decent customer or staff member. Interesting difference between a Marina bar and a dive bar. I think I'll stay away from the Marina bars. more

Great New Menu ! 4/6/2007

Stopped by tonight to try the Spring menu. The new menu is much lighter and healthier that the last. I can't wait to go back for the Lobster Corndogs and the fresh mozzarella and tomatoe skewers. Very attentive service. Pros: the healthier spring menu Cons: very busy bar scene more

LOVE LOVE LOVE the food! 4/3/2007

I have eaten here about 8x since it's opening and I must say that the best thing about Circa is that the food is excelent! I have had no problems with service or rudeness quite the opposite, the service has always been wonderful and the staff friendly, never been turned down at the door, if you go for dinner, make a reso. I usually don't love the Marina for for going out, but this place is great....I can have a wonderful dinner and then go to the bar afterward for drink (or 2) and my boyfriend loves that they have sports on the flatscreens. \r All in all, it's my favorite place to dine/drink in the Marina, it's really just a great time! I also always bring out of towners as it is always impressive and the Chef is very visable, super friendly (and talented) guy. I just did brunch on Sunday and I was again impressed, the mimosas were such a deal (they do an unlimited one for like 8 or 9 bucks!) and my crab and asparagas eggs benidect was wonderful, I also liked the portabella sandwich. For dinner, the Halibut is a persoal fav, perfect light flavoring and amazing herb mashed potatoes...oh and the Mac and Cheese is just probably the best thing I have ever tasted. If you want the best service go early for dinner and have drinks afterward, others must like this place as much as me b/c it place fills up quick.....it's a one of my favorite restaurant/lounges. Pros: FOOD IS GREAT! Cons: Can be crowded, but thats b/c it's so popular! more

Avoid Circa !!!!! Worst Service Ever ........! 3/26/2007

The Circa restaurant is one to avoid at all cost. A few of my friends and I had chosen to try this place as its name has been circulated as quite a known one; however, we were truly REGRETTABLY disappointed. We were seated 45 mins after our reservations (whats the point?), then after late arrival of our dishes, we were promptly told to leave at 9:30pm even though not all of our dishes had arrived!! \r \r I requested that I wont be paying for the dishes that hasn't arrived, but were negatively scolded by the server. It is unfair for the customer to have to pay for a dish not eatan, and still asked to leave the table. Not only this big instance but the server has presented a bad service, unfriendly, and distasteful experience. I would never recommend this place and would be sure my friends and family avoid it as well. No one should should seek a great dining night out and have to take such disrespectful service!!!\r \r AVOID Circa in San Francisco.......... one of many bad restaurants in the city! If you can't provide good service, dont even bother serving in SF!!! \r Pros: It's existance make other restaurants look GOOD! Cons: Service, Unfair Payments, Wine recommedations more

WORST SERVICE EVER! 3/26/2007

For my good friend, Mia's, big 30 birthday, she picked Circa to celebrate this special day. I made reservations for March 24th at 7:15pm for a table of 9 people online. Three of us got there around 7:15pm and got seated. The waitress took awhile to come to our table to take our orders for drinks. We asked the waitress for recommendation on a red and dry wine and she gave us her recommendation. 8pm all our parties (eight Chinese females) arrived and the manager, Alex, came over (appr. 8:00pm) and told us that we were late. He is expecting a party at 9:30 for the table we are sitting at. We ordered four appetitizers and choose a wine by 8:05pm. The wine came and it was extremely sour and the manager, Alex, came over and asked what was wrong with the wine (8:15pm)? We said, ""it is not what we wanted ""and he asked ""why didn't you ask for suggestion for the waitress?"" We replied, ""we did' and we asked for the check and that we will pay for only two of the four appetizers that came out and to cancel all other orders. We asked one of the server if the owner was there so we could speak to him but no one came to our aide. Finally the two hostess help us locate the owner. We told him that we did not know that restaurants have a time limit on the duration that you could stay. Also, they need to be customer oriented to survive especially since we had a large party and that no one knew that there was valet parking. We were extremely offended and the manager was discriminatory towards us. We told the owner that we are walking out due to bad service and left. The owner came after us with a card and offer to hook us up with free dinner at the restaurant of our choice. I been to fine dining(Ana Mandara, Boulevard, IL Fornaio, The House, Ponzul, Restaurant Lulu, Circolo, ISA and etc) and I never had the experienced were I felt like I was being kicked out. We end up eating at Amici's where we had great service and we tip the guy 40% for his excellent service. What a great birthday!! Cons: WORST SERVICE EVER more

Nice Place But Hang the Bouncer 2/17/2007

I go out 3 - 4 times per week in SF and this is the first review I've ever posted. But after my experience tonight I truly feel compelled to publisize what a complete !@#$en d*ck the bouncer is at Circa. He is a drunk megalomaniac and my friends will never go back there again. One of the bouncers is from Puerto Rico and he is a genuinely nice guy. But the other bouncer is totally riduculous!!! My friends and I are educated professionals who have never had any issues with any bouncers in SF. But this guy goes looking for problems and I cannot reiterate enough the previous posting. The good news is that this bouncer is such a !@#$en idiot that I'm sure this bar will get sued at some point and learn its lesson. Don't go there until they send this guy back to Modesto... or 1940s Germany ... or wherever he comes from!!! more

The Total Downer 2/9/2007

This is not about the restaurant. We did not eat any food, the place is cool but we will never go there again! \r \r The bouncer was a total downer. We saw him last week drunk off his rocker, wearing an offensive teeshirt. He knocked into our table, spilt all of our drinks, and then tried to start a fight we us. We go to Circa, this guy is the bouncer and he targets us and all of our party. On a rainy Thursday night, he was trying to strickly enforce the ""dress code."" He made a big deal about our friends wearing tennis shoes, while half the other people in the bar were wearing tennis shoes. Then he malisiciously kicked my friend out of the bar. He ruined my friends birthday because he is a sloppy drunk and he was trying to get retribution from us yelling at him last week. more

Dazzlin' Decor and Dishes 1/17/2007

The beautiful Hollywood vibe is mellowed the moment you enter the dining room and sink into the flavor and comforts of the dazzlin? dishes by chef Erik Hopfinger. Crafting innovative American classics, each dish delights and you feel you?ve picked just the right spot with CIRCA; elegant in atmosphere and precisely pleasing in food. The lobster mac ?n cheese, steamy tomato soup with petite grilled cheese, and lamb lollichops are personal favorites ?.mmmm, who?s enticed to have dinner at CIRCA tonight?!\r more

Average food, lousy service 1/9/2007

Just got home from Circa, Tuesday night with a 7pm reservation. No problem getting in but I'm sorry we bothered. First the good: The hostess was pleasant and efficient (although I never like being seated next to another party in an empty restaurant) and the bussers were superstars - friendly and quick. The bad and the ugly - our food was nothing special and our server was spectacularly bad. Unfriendly and patronizing, he screwed himself out of a decent tip every step of the way and didn't even thank us. We wanted some dessert wine and coffee but he dropped the check without a word the second our plates were cleared. I would give Circa another chance if not for him. Pros: Nice space Cons: Terrible service more

Worst Customer Service 12/6/2006

Well, what can I say about this place. I've spent a lot of time all over the world and I must say that I haven't experienced such poor service since my last trip to France. I mean really, twenty minutes for the white wine then fifteen minutes later for the red??? Sure different people wanted different wine, but the red wine drinkers sure didn't want to drink white wine while waiting for reds!! Food was okay, nothing to write home about for sure but it wasn't bad, stay away from the duck!! Pros: nice ambience Cons: bad service more

A bouncer outside...really? 12/5/2006

This corner has had a bad run of unsuccessful restaurants. At least the folks at Cosmos were trying to make you feel welcome...Circa, not so much. Don't bother with a reservation because you will be waiting around for at least 30 minutes. Eating in the bar/lounge is a better idea, however, the service is so slow it's almost funny! It's really funny when you receive your appetizers before your drinks...what are the bartenders doing back there? Food is okay, nothing special. The hostesses are snooty, for no apparent reason, and the owners feel that it is necessary to put a bouncer outside during dinner hours. I think they are trying too hard to be hip and trendy, but missing the target. Not interested in returning here when there are so many other great places within a few blocks. I wonder will be put in that spot next after Circa closes? Pros: Close to my house Cons: Slow service, okay food, bad at keeping reservations, rude hostesses more

Great crowd 11/29/2006

I have not gotten the chance to eat here yet, but the bar scene is enough to draw me there every week. I have been there on any given night of the week and there are always people there having a good time. The service is a little slow but the ambiance in the place can't be beat. more
