My husband and I set out on a quest for a great Bolognese one nightand we found it! We were so impressed by the food, service and value that we will make this our regular neighborhood restaurant. The flavors were traditional yet refined and we felt pampered by our wait staff. They have also paid attention to every detaillighting, room layout, dishes. I have nothing but good things to say. This place really doesn't look great from outside, but once inside it has a real homey feel to it. It is quite cute and relaxing. Due to its close proximity to the University Village, I would definitely recommend stopping by here for dinner after a hard day of shopping. The food is great. 07DEC04 was classic Seattle December cold-into-the-bones, wet, no sun, no fun; so avoid sushi/sashimi on this day of infamy. Why not be the renevant to an old favorite haunt?? The friendly staff promptly brought Pinot Grigio and menu. The waiter's suggested the menu's Osso Buco versus a special risotto with lamb sausage. Epiphany on a plate!! Mounded Milanese risotto with assertive saffron kick was topped with another huge mound of sauced satin silky smooth long-long braised veal (probably hind) shank......then topped by a heady toothsome Gremolata of parsley, rare garlic and citrus zest. The whole, served very hot, shot bolts of intense warmth into my deeply chilled bones for half-hour. Maybe the deep red fruity Montepulicano wine didn't diminish the effect either. Satiety; so I succumbed to taking a doggie's dessert box------like most diners leaving, grinning. I anxiously look toward my next visit; you should be there too!! You'll never believe, with all its homey, Tuscan touches that this place used to be a daycare, and before that, a garage. this place is awesome! the first time i went i was impressed with service, food, ambiance, the whole experience. the second time i went i realized this could easily be my favorite! each dish had so much flavor and tasted so fresh, you know you are getting authentic itallian for a reasonable price, and you can bring the kids! i took my 7 year old and he fit in just fine. so whether it is a romantic date for 2 or a casual family dinner you'll feel at home and taken care of here. Now that I've moved away, I try to make special shopping trips that of course require a dinner break @ Ciao Bella. 7 years later & the food is still awesome! Everyone I've taken has been impressed. I can't say enough about how comforting it is to dine here. I've tried many of the pasta dishes and have always loved it. This place is often overlooked, but it's definitely a worthy Italian restaurant. more
