Fresh fish, Reasonable prices! 7/7/2007

My friend and I went to Sushi Twist on a random weekday and absolutely loved it! Their specialty rolls and cocktails were delicious. The fish was very fresh - especially the Ikura (salmon roe) sashimi; the freshest I've ever had. I've since gone back twice more just to get the ikura! The ambiance is trendy, but not too loud so you can go with a friend to sit back and talk. Pros: Ikura sashimi Cons: None more

BETTER THAN NOBU! 7/2/2007

A friend and I came here for dinner one random evening and were surprised to find this restaurant to be quite trendy. The decor and ambience is very intimate. The food was out of this world amazing! Very fresh, and the sushi was not over stuffed with rice. I strongly recommend trying the Dragon Roll and the Fireball Roll. The drinks menu boasted a tiny but tasty selection of sake and cocktails. For dessert, a must try is the Mochi Ice Cream (Mango & Red Bean is my favorite). The wait staff is very attentive as my glass was never empty. I?m a sushi connoisseur and for the quality of fish and service we received, this place is a bargain! I will definitely be returning! Pros: Food, Service and Ambience more

fresh fish 7/2/2007

This restaurant is a great! I would have to agree that I enjoyed the secludedness of this restaurant, making the place not too crowded and a lot more enjoyable,I had a great time with some friends here, we had great sake drinks, and enjoyed the speciality rolls, the fish was so fresh and delicious. The price was fair and the service was great, I defenitely recommended this place to everyone I know and will be going back soon. more

A sushi lover's dream find 4/4/2007

One of my girlfriends and I wanted to have a night of catching up, so we figured we would go for sushi. At first she had suggested Budakhan, but after checking out the menu I realized they really didnt have sushi. I logged onto Citysearch because I was in the mood for something other than Haru or Sushi Samba (both great restaurants but I was in the mood for something new). Sushi Twist popped up and all of the reviews were great. It was a Monday night and when we popped in the place was empty, but it was also a nice change to some of the noisier city restaurants. My friend had a lychee martini and I had white wine. We ordered a couple specialty rolls (the list is out of this world!) and couple regular rolls...like spicy tuna. The fish was very fresh and each roll had a unique flavor (and its affordable!). The staff was very helpful and the decor was really cute. The music was also great...I could def see how this would be a great place for a birthday or weekend dinner. I will definetly be coming back here again and again. Pros: Ambience, Drink List, Menu, Music Cons: Location more

Excellent Sushi. Great Atmosphere. Friendly Staff. 2/23/2007

Before anything I should say I'm Japanese American so when it comes to 'my food' I am extremely picky. That said, I gotta say this place really impressed me. I've been to many, MANY Japanese restaurants in my lifetime and the seafood here is just as fresh if not fresher than restaurants that charge five times as much. The sashimi was superb, their specialty rolls were creative and thoughtfully prepared and their sake selection was almost overwhelming. The location is a bit off the beaten path but that actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I'm not particularly fond of elbow to elbow dining with strangers so it turned out to be a perfect place to catch up with some friends. The atmosphere had sort of a 'loungey' feel to it...dim lights, Sade playing in the background...I would definitely bring a date here. Overall had a great experience and I'd HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone! Stop searching and GO! Pros: Food. Ambience. Service. more

A hidden gem. You won't be disappointed. 12/14/2006

I've been to Sushi Twist easily a dozen dimes and it never disappoints. They have some interesting variations (the Volcano Roll, the Explosion Roll) that are absolutely delicious, even for a non-adventurous sushi eater like me. Their stand-bys (spicy tuna, lobster) have been perfected. The fish is fresh, the service is friendly, knowledgable and attentive (our water glasses were never left more than half empty). In short, other than a location that can be quite barren at dinnertime and club-y music that feels inorganic, what's not to love? Try it. You won't be disappointed. Pros: The food, the service, the prices Cons: The location, loud music more

BEST DRINKS AND SERVICE IN DOWNTOWN NYC 12/11/2006

I HAD DINNER WITH A GROUP OF FRIENDS LAST FRIDAY, IT WAS 7 OF US, WE EACH ORDERED A ROLL AND A BUNCH OF DRINKS AND APPETIZERS, THE LOVELY WAITRESS GAVE US GREAT RECOMMENDATIONS AND THE FOOD CAME FAST AND LOOKED REALLY TASTY. ALTHOUGH THE MUSIC WAS A BIT LOUD, BUT THE ATMOSPHERE WAS GREAT. WE ALL LOVED OUR FOOD AND COULDN'T RESIST TO ORDER MORE DRINKS, THE WAITRESS DIDN'T GIVE US A DIRTY LOOK FOR ASKING IF THE DRINK COULD BE SWEETER FOR MY FRIEND. SO WE LEFT HER A COOL 50 BUCKS FOR HER GREAT FOOD AND DRINKS RECOMMENDATIONS. IT IS A NICE LITTLE PLACE TO HANG OUT ON FRIDAY NIGHT. GREAT ROLLS AND SERVICE/ Pros: SERVICE AND DRINKS Cons: TOO DIM more

We came, I waited, he threw up 12/10/2006

My friend and I went to Sushi Twist last night for dinner. First, the service was terrible. There were three waiters running around. Not one of them seemed to have a specific role, which led to either them asking us the same questions numerous time or us waiting for long stretches of time before someone came over to refill our drinks or clear our table of used plates and glasses. Second, we waited over 40 minutes for my order, which was ONE roll. In the mean time they served my friend his dinner 20 minutes before mine arrived and a group of guys at another table, who were also waiting for a roll, asked for the check and left early because they were tired of waiting. Third, to appease the tables that were waiting they brought out a small fried chicken appetizer. Clearly this cost them next to nothing. Paying for either part of our meal or a round of drinks would have been a more appropriate and well-received gesture. Finally, as if all of the above was not enough of a reason to avoid this place, my friend ended up throwing up within a couple hours of eating at Sushi Twist and I've had a stomach ache for the better part of today. The only things nearing a positive review were the drinks, which were not outstanding, but at least not terrible. Pros: drinks were okay Cons: service, management's plan to deal with dissatisfied customers, freshness of food more
