Excellent Salads 8/25/2010

Being taken here with friends from work for my birthday some years ago was a highlight of my career. I take visitors from out-of-town here. Salads are healthy and tasty. The bar does fine work with requests from quests. Vegetarians enjoy the fare. One can go there after taking guests to see the famous campus of Louisiana State University. Service is professional no matter how busy the restaurant is.The choice of beer on tap alone makes this worth a visit. The quality of the food is consistently ourstanding. more

I LOVE the Chimes! 7/11/2009

Oh... The Chimes, how I miss your hush puppies and beer list!! I love the etouffee, the seafood pasta, the turkey croissant, the veggie burger, cheese fries... and my list could go on forever. This place is easily my all time favorite restaurant! more

Rave for Chimes East 1/20/2008

The Chimes East opened about a year ago on Coursey Blvd. and it's much improved over the original. I've taken out-of-town guests there and we all loved it. Seafood is excellent. Great red beans and rice. One of the few places left where you can get fresh-shucked oysters on the half shell and they're only 30 cents apiece from 4 to 7 p.m. more

I've been for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch and the only complaint I have is that there's almost always a 20 to 30 minute wait, but they'll give you a pager and you can wander into the bar and work on your "round-the-world." It can get pretty noisy and boisterous when there's an LSU football game playing on the array of big-screen tv's scattered throughout the restaurant. There's outdoor patio service that can be very pleasant in the spring and fall or if you absolutely have to have a smoke. more

Horrible service, bad food, ok drinks 9/25/2007

I've been a couple of times before for drinks, but i recently went for lunch. The service was slow and they were rude. My food was undercooked and had to be sent back. My friends also each had to send something back. If you go, go for drinks only, they're good and the bartenders are friendly. Otherwise, pass on The Chimes! Pros: Crowd, good drinks, good happy hour hang out spot Cons: Don't go for good food more

A campus classic for food and night life 6/5/2007

Chimes is famous for their food. It's a little overpriced but to die for - especially anything with seafood. Their drink selection is great, especially their beer choices (they serve Blue Moon cold and with an orange slice, which is the best). Come prepared to spend and wait - but it's well worth both! Pros: Rich and tasty food, good date or hangout place Cons: A little expensive more

Chime Me In Again 12/30/2006

This place is fantastic in every way imaginable except for one: a smoking section. Blech. I love the blackened alligator tails so much I have dreamt about them before. The hush puppies are also out of this world. Pros: Delicious Food, Service, Prices Cons: Wait Time, Smoking more
