Rave for Chimes East 1/20/2008

The Chimes East opened about a year ago on Coursey Blvd. and it's much improved over the original. I've taken out-of-town guests there and we all loved it. Seafood is excellent. Great red beans and rice. One of the few places left where you can get fresh-shucked oysters on the half shell and they're only 30 cents apiece from 4 to 7 p.m. I've been for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch and the only complaint I have is that there's almost always a 20 to 30 minute wait, but they'll give you a pager and you can wander into the bar and work on your "round-the-world." It can get pretty noisy and boisterous when there's an LSU football game playing on the array of big-screen tv's scattered throughout the restaurant. There's outdoor patio service that can be very pleasant in the spring and fall or if you absolutely have to have a smoke. more
