Formerly Chameau, this restaurant (almost more like an upscale Tribeca eat-in deli) on busy Fairfax Avenue near Canter's offers simple sandwiches with a gourmet twist. Examples of a typical order at the deli, which seats around 30, includes a BLT with brie on a baguette (served with arugula tomato, bacon and Dijon spread). But the deli bar, true to its name, also serves alcohol--and a small bar at the front has a nice selection of wines and beers from all over the world (the owners are from Fez, so look for French and Moroccan wines). Salads are sizable here and the sandwiches could use some work, but for a nice upscale lunch, one could fare much worse than Deli Bar, with its bright design scheme and reasonably-priced specialty desserts.
