Welcome to the Lamest Place on Earth. 10/13/2010

This place was so ridiculous it wasn't even funny. Time regular Seattle Emo attitude by 100 and bad haircuts and B.O. by 1000. Avoid this place. more

bad attitudes 10/11/2009

slow service from bartenders with pissy attitudes. there is nothing more annoying than bartenders on power trips and they all seem to be on one there. not that they care, but they lost a customer tonight. Pros: foos ball, carta blanca beer Cons: everything else more

Why don't people dance at Cha Cha? 9/13/2009

Why don't people dance at Cha Cha? Search riceonthehill for possible answers Pros: Everyone looks great in red lighting Cons: bartenders yell at you to leave by 1:15 a.m. more

Ruined my 21st birthday 10/20/2008

I went here for my 21st knowing that they are a little more lax about fake id's and my friends could get in with me. I didnt expect the royal treatment but the service was TERRIBLE. The bartender was extremely rude to me, he told me if I couldn't afford to pay for my own drinks even on my birthday then I should just stay home. Which is not only completely out of line, but its just plain stupid. The drinks were awful, my friend bought me a Kamikaze that was pure vodka. The only thing you should order is beer, and the Asian bartender (I know that is not the most PC term but I didnt get his name) should be fired!\r \r I am never returning there, and I recommend you dont go. Pros: Cute atmosphere Cons: Bad drinks, worse service more

eww for the drinks. 5/15/2008

My first and only time at Cha Cha's was not fun. I liked the sombrero's and the funky stuff on the celing. But i had one of the worst lemondrops ever!!! maybe I was in the wrong place to get a martini but seriously i was only able to handle one sip....it was straight alcohol, i tasted no lemon.....so it was just a drop? I guess it's fun if you just like beer. oh and we were sitting right at the bar and it took the bartender about 10 minutes to notice us. awesome. Pros: the ceiling. Cons: drinks. more

just relax and enjoy it 8/3/2007

It seems like people have a strong reaction to the Cha Cha lounge ? either they think it?s full of hipster wanna-be twenty somethings or it?s too mainstream and yuppie. Yes, there are yuppies, yes there are hipsters ? just like most of the bars on the hill. It?s a good mix of people and you can meet some really neat characters there. The new location is just fine. If you liked the old Cha Cha you?ll like the new one too. Give it a try, it might be your favorite bar around ? go with an open mind and have a Rainier. Pros: Cool as ever Cons: too cool for some, not cool enough for others more

Cheerful people in an exotic environment 12/5/2006

Cha Cha was the last bar I visited before taking of by plane back to Belgium (two hours later). The bar was crowded with all kinds of cheerful people. I remember getting a Tecate which is a beer I knew from Mexico. I didn't know it was an export beer so it brought back some memories. I would try out Cha Cha again if I stayed longer in Seattle. It seems a place where you can meet loads of interesting people with exciting stories in an exotic environment. Pros: Exotic environment and cheerful people more

hipsters unite 10/23/2006

this is a great place to drink and smoke and if you have tatoos....strong drinks...great for people watching....but it can get too smoky...other than that..always a great place to meet people for a drink and then go over to another bar more

RUINED! 7/31/2006

This place used to be great. Quirky smokey atmosphere, visceral thrash-rock over the p/a, cheap drinks (from some of the last remaining Rainier taps left in the city), and a staff and clientele that only cared if you were there and had a drink in your hand. Plus, the kind of place that you could count on finding company any night of the week (I can remember at least a few Monday/Tuesday ""whoa's-me-binge"" closers with the place packed). But now, with the smoke gone, the place feels more like a frat-house than a hang-out. It used to be one of those places you could rely on not getting eyed up and down if you didn't want to--just be, not fend off someone trying to ""hook up."" Or listen to it. Maybe I'm just mad at the recent smoking ban (I'm not a smoker myself), but I will say this: the place has changed and not for the best. It speaks to the fact when a nearly unchanged staff in 2-3 years up and disappears in a matter of months. I'm an advocate of ""getting along"" but I don't think that goes as far as saying a bar has to cater to EVERYONE. If you can't deal with the smoke, go somewhere else--it's sad that a venue that was always open to the public feels like it's estranged it's loyal customer's by becoming more ""public accessible."" Sure, the place is still busy, the decor unchanged, Rainier taps still intact (as far as I know), but it's a far different animal. I for one, will not be frequenting anymore. The Cha Cha as I once knew it, doesn't exist. If I wanted to join a frat, I would have.....and if I wanted to see how frat guys hook up, well, there's always been Tiki Bob's. Pros: always busy, the last of the Rainier taps Cons: where did all the real locals go? more

not a great place to meet new people - everyone seems too cool for school - but a fun, laid back place to unwind with friends Pros: good drinks, laid back Cons: slow service, smoky more

The cha cha is NOT a dive!!! 10/20/2004

And if you think it is, you must not get out of Bellevue very often. This is THE scenester bar to beat all scenester bars, and you aren't going to be very comfortable there, or get anything but a watered-down drink, unless you go there ALOT! hint: if you aren't a regular stick with shots and beer... Dives are welcoming, down to earth and warm, not full of cliques and snotty, hipper than thou attitude. You've just GOT to be kidding, calling the Cha Cha a dive... the place has some charming qualities, esp if it's not Friday or Saturday night, but a dive it is not... It's a theme bar for the terminally insecurely hip.... more

yawn 9/29/2002

This place was a snore of a place to start off a Saturday night. The zillions of piercings were scary and the music was putting me to sleep. Plusses: stiff, cheap drinks, cool decor. Pros: inexpensive Cons: crowded, horrible music, unfriendly more

near perfect, but... 6/12/2002

Compared to other cities and bars I've lived in, Cha Cha really makes me feel at home. Nice grungy vibe and LOUD music. Bad attitudes abound, making Cha Cha a little hard to deal with at times. If you like having a sweaty ass from vinyl booth seating, you'll love it! Some people are nice but most are still pissed about someTHING. This bar is close to perfect, if only the drinks were stiffer (please visit San Francisco for benchmarking purposes). Service is non-existent, but I still tip. more

Funky tiki dive 5/20/2002

This place serves 40s--depending on what you think about that fact, you'll either love it or hate it. I've enjoyed many fun nights out with friends there, but they crank the music really loud as the night goes on so it tends to become a yelling match at the table. more
