Catena's Hair Studio

Had the best experience. Catena's is clean and organized and they really listen to what you want. I would fully recommend to anyone. At first I was tentative, because a friend of mine said she did not have a great experience. But later I confirmed she was not sure who helped her. I had the best time and it's well worth trying this place out. more

I live in DC. Two days before my Godson's wedding in Austin (and 4 months after I had confirmed the appointment), the salon I had booked called to cancel. They recommended Catena's -- and I am SO GLAD they did! I was literally calling them on my cellphone while changing planes and they could NOT have been more helpful! My sister-in-law and I arrived not too long before closing on a Saturday and they did our hair and nails with courtesy and good humor -- and we looked great!! Thank you, Catena's!! Everyone was wonderful. Love this salon. If there were 6 stars (or 10) we would give them. more

I just returned to Catena's today after about a two year break. Everyone there has always been extremely nice and professional but I decided to find another person due to my crazy schedule. I tried to find someone compatible to Mary Ann but it was impossible. I bounced around searching for the perfect hairdresser, hitting the salons at the mall for convenience and going to the Ulta stores only to be disappointed. more

Just got an amazing cut and color with Jen. She was great and the haircut was very precisely orchestrated. Catena's is right by campus; a close walk away for UT students and has a private parking lot for those with cars (since parking in Austin can be hard to come by). My only regret is not finding this place sooner! more

I decided out of the blue to cut my hair short, but didn't have a regular stylist. I work close to Catena's so I decided to walk over and ask if they had an appointment later that day. They did and Jennifer was my stylist. My friends were surprised I would let a stylist I wasn't familiar with make such a drastic change to my hair, but I love it! She was fun and did a great job. I will definitely be going back for all my other hair care needs! more

I love this Catena's. They are really warm and friendly and always do a great job. If you are looking to change style completely and looking for something really cool, get Erin to do your hair. I went from blond long to short dark, and she did amazing job. more

I have ""special needs"" hair and have had a really difficult time finding a salon that can listen to what I need. Miss Catena spoke with me personally and made sure my hair was colored appropriately. It is a truly unique salon in that everybody seems to keep an eye out to make sure the clients are taken care of perfectly the first time, even if you are not sitting in their chair. Catena's is such a wonderful hair salon. I always enjoy getting my hair shampooed by Paula and cut by Luchyne. Luchyne does such a great job and knows exactly what cut is best for your hair. Would highly recommend her and she is such a sweet person. more

I got my hair cut at Catena's the other day, and was surprised at what a great experience it was. The salon is has a great location that I had been past dozens of times, but had never been in. Immediately after walking into the eclectic salon I was greeted by the owner who made sure I was comfortable and happy. She is an upbeat and her positive attitude is infectious. The warm, friendly atmosphere at Catena's Hair Studio really makes the experience enjoyable. Oh yeah, the haircut was top-notch also. I'll definitely be back to this great place! more

Catena's is the sort of place where you know you've found something special as soon as you step through the door. This is not a normal, average salon. Catena's is beautifully decorated and it reflects the quality of the work that they do. I just moved back to Austin two weeks ago and found Catena's online. The owner and staff are all great people and have known each other for many, many years. Luchyne is one of the sweetest ladies that I've met since I got back to Texas and she gave me one of the best haircuts that I've had in years (in addition to some great advice on relationships.) :) If you just moved to Austin or you are wanting to update your look, I highly recommend this place! more

Had long hair and wanted to cut it for a while. I didn't know where to go but someone recommended Catena's. I didn't have a picture -- wasn't sure what my hair would do. MaryAnn cut it and I was blown away. I never thought my hair would do this. I love it! And got a lot of compliments on it. It's a great setting. Bill used to be my hair stylist when we both lived in Arkansas. I moved to San Antonio TX and never let another person color my hair. When I found out Bill was in Austin, I had to go! He is the same magician he has always been - I got a great haircut, natural highlights and felt great about my hair for the first time in a very long time! It was well worth the drive and I'll be going back. As a side note, I also got the most wonderful pedicure from Heather. This is definitely a place you want to become one of the regulars! I am a freak about my hair and have been struggling with growing my short cut out for over a year. I had a cut that just wasn't working, and Bill knew exactly what to do. I have had a hard time having hairstylists accurately interpret what I was looking for, I often came out blonder with a straight cut rather than medium brown and curly, which is what I am !! I would never have found Heather/Catena's if not for citysearch - so thank you, citysearch! I was looking for a manicure/pedicure place that did paraffin treatments (because the skin on my hands especially have become very dry from my callouses from cello) and used organic products. Seeing all the wonderful reviews here, I decided to book at Catena's... I was so pleased they were able to accommodate me on short notice (I called 1 or 2 days before). WOW. I have been to a lot of places in my search for the perfect experience - from the ubiquitous nail salons in strip malls, to some very nice spas. Heather, has given me, by far, the BEST manicure/pedicure I've ever gotten. She is way better than even aestheticians I've met that focus on nails only (which truly was a pleasant surprise!). And trust me, I'm picky. She is thorough, friendly, professional, meticulous, experienced (17 years!), very picky (she repeats the entire polish application process on a nail if she is not satisfied). I love how much attention to detail she puts into her work, whether it be how sanitized her materials are or how well your nails are cut, or how comfortable you are. She also likes to share some tips and tricks! On top of all this, she has such a warm and effusive personality. As if Heather weren't enough, the atmosphere at Catena's is amazing. It's an older house converted into a salon and Heather's ""studio"" is on the second floor attic, which was very warm and inviting. It's the most relaxing pedicure I've ever had because of how cozy it was. I've found my nail aesthetician and will certainly be coming back for more. I'm going to try a facial and eyelash extensions with her. If she's THAT great and thorough with nails, I can only wonder how she is with the other stuff. So I saw Catena's Hair Studio by using Google Maps- it was one of the closest to UT. It had great reviews. I didn't make an appointment, I walked in about 30 minutes after they opened. I was seated within 3 minutes. I met the owner. Both she and the receptionist were very friendly. Bill was my cosmotologist. I told him I wanted something natural looking with blonde. He gave me very natural looking highlights- you really can't tell that it is dyed- my hair just looks lighter. I got a quick trim and bangs. The entire process took a little less than 2 hours.
