I looked at many hair studios and stylists before settling on seeing Shanna. I have naturally curly hair which if not cut properly, looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket. I told Shanna that I was a little too old for the Shirley Temple ringlet look and that I wanted a hair style that would look flattering on me. She did a GREAT JOB. I made an appointment with Erica at Catena's to get my hair cut for locks of love. I was nervous about getting so much hair cut off but Erica was very nice and explained to me exactly what she was going to do. Wow, what an amazing experience I had. Not only was my facial the best facial I have ever had, Maria provided a very relaxing environment. From the minute you walk in the atmosphere is professional, very clean and relaxing. Let me tell you about the services I received, ""The works with microdermabrasion."" I started with a mask and during that time I received a foot and hand massage while the steam was doing its job. Then it was all business after that, a very thorough facial with lots of cleaning and a face massage, the pressure of her hands was perfect. It must have included 2 mask and extractions and lots of good stuff. I've had several facials before and always left unsatisfied, this facial was absolutely the works. Shanna is wonderful. She talked to me at length before putting this product in my hair to be sure it was the right one for me. This is my second time to have extensions and the first experience was just ""OK"". This product works much better than the last. You can shower, sweat, brush and sleep without issue. There is very little slippage or tangling. Shanna is great to work with. She will work with your schedule, give you privacy and even let you ""do your own thing"" while she magically ""grows"" your hair. The extensions give me volume and length. I fully recommend you try it. more

I discovered Catena's after having asked an acquaintance where she got her cute haircut. After hearing ""Mary Ann at Catena's"", I next went to the web to see the reviews for Catena's. I was most impressed with the overwhelmingly positive reviews and decided to give the shop a try. Everything I'd read about turned out to be accurate ... the salon is clean and inviting, the staff is all pleasant and accomodating, and Mary Ann took lots of time to not only ask me what I wanted in the way of a cut (and color) but also explained to me what she proposed to do (and why) before cutting and highlighting my hair. I felt like a valued client from the very beginning. Catena's charges the ""going rates"" for a nice salon in Austin, and the service was terrific. I'd recommend the salon ... and Mary Ann ... to anyone. more

I heard about Catena's through a friend. Kit Kendall had actually cut my hair before when she worked at a different salon. When I learned she had moved to Catena's I had to check it out. The salon is really cool. It feels like you are in someone's home with nice furnishings everywhere. Kit's area has a flat screen television! What guy doesn't like watching ESPN while he's getting a haircut. Not only does Kit give an amazing haircut, she is really cool and amazingly reasonably priced. I can honestly say that I have never had a better haircut at that price. I highly recommend Kit and Catena's. more

I made an appointment at Cantena's for a trial run for my wedding hair, expecting to pay the full charge for an updo. I had never been there before, (I found them on this site) and so they recommended Suzanne. I had to change my appointment a couple of times, and every time I talked to them they were really nice and helpful. When I finally came in, Suzanne offered to ""play"" with several different looks and spent an hour trying a couple different things. She had great ideas, and also listened to what I liked and didn't and had lots of pictures of past brides she had done as examples of different looks. When we were discussing times to accommodate all 7 of us in the bridal party, Shanna in the next chair over immediately volunteered to stay late the day of my wedding if necessary. In the end, my hair looked awesome, they got all seven of us scheduled, and Suzanne didn't charge me anything for the consultation. It was a great experience and really refreshing to work with people who were so helpful. I am looking forward to returning and feel very confident that everyone will come out looking great! When I first pulled up to Catena's, my first thought was, wow, who knew this was here? Very nice with all the trees around the building and the front entrance looks so inviting. The inside was just as lovely as I had hoped. Everyone was so nice and friendly and Mary Anne Catena herself is a jewel! She took the time to talk to me and made me feel very welcome. I have recently gone through a break up and thought a new hairstyle might make me feel better. I was hoping to perk myself up a little and never expected to walk out feeling great - But that's exactly how I felt! I am so glad I found this place and will definitely be going back for future haircuts - with Shanna - And also for massages and facials! I recently visited Shanna at Catenas. I did alot of research about Extensions in Austin and the surrounding area. After making my appointment with Shanna meeting her and talking to her she got it!!! This is the best I have ever looked or felt about myself. She colored my hair first. Which by the way looks amazing in and of itself. I have had ALOT of bad hair experiences before, so I was very apprehensive to start this process. I was in Shanna's chair for 5hrs , she is warm and caring and completely entertaining! I never felt more comfortable with a stylist.The salon is very cozy with a great atmoshere.Everyone was so nice. What a great highend salon without the attitude. If you want the BEST go see SHANNA! I was at Catenas for the first time last week. It was one of the best Salon experiences I have had in Austin. I moved here 2yrs. ago and have been to a number of ""the Best"" salons in town.I was never more then after meeting Shanna. Shanna sat and talked with me about what my desires,wants and needs were. Then she went for it!!! ! left looking at least 5yrs. younger. Not only that, but I was relaxed. The atmosphere at Catenas is very relaxing. And the staff is very warm. Erica is the best, friendly and helpful...totally willing to talk to you and work with you to come up with a style and color that's flattering and can work with your lifestyle. Everyone comes by to chat with you, and give ""final approval"" on your style and/or color, I've never had so many compliments in one day. I have only been to Catena's twice, and the last visit was 5 weeks ago when I had a cut and color with Shanna. I was a bit nervous after she suggested a color that I hadn't thought much about, but I said, ""let's go for it"" and I am so glad I did. 5 weeks later the color is still very vibrant and hasn't faded, and the cut is very versatile with my naturally curly hair. She even colored my eyebrows, and since that was the first time ever that I've had my brows colored, I was scared I'd look like Groucho Marx, but they looked so natural and perfect with my honey blonde color. I would definitely recommend Shanna and her talent/expertise to any one of my friends, and look forward to coming back to the salon. One thing that I also appreciated was the fact that Shanna is willing to work with a client during times of ultimate change and pampering, but also when a budget is something that has to be adhered to and a haircut is all that can be done at a visit. I had the most incredible massage ever! When I heard Becky had a degree in Kinesiology it all made sense! Becky truly has a G-d given talent.
