The place seemed promising visually with the decor and the patrons which you gave you that authentic ambiance. To start it off our waitress was not tentative since we had to wait...

Decent Italian Cuisine 6/29/2010

Been here a few times, and although I've never been disappointed, I've never been wowed either. They have some interesting pizzas on the menu. It's basically Italian fare at fair prices. Nice place to go to in the summer for lunch if you can grab a seat out in the back garden. Cons: Nothing Special more

Great tuna pizza, everything else is -eh 5/18/2010

I want to love it here. great staff. Some of the pizzas are not great and not crunchy. I got linguine with clams and it came in a weird broth that was brownish grey- not very appetizing. Arugula sald is good but for $9 to small. Get the tuna pizza and you will be happy. more

My favorite place, 9/4/2009

I never really post anything on these things, but had to write after reading some of these reviews. Caserta Vecchia is by far one of the best places to eat that i know of in Brooklyn, (and i have lived here for over 15 years). The food is great and the staff is by far some of the most attentive and friendly people around. I've been going there since it opened and have become friendly with the staff and owners, who are wonderful people. My favorites dishes are the Arriabata pizza and the Grilled Calamari Salad, but I also love their pastas. I think i may have tried them all :) Sangria is good too. I highly recommended this place. That's my 2 cents. Pros: Food and service Cons: weak air condiditoning :) more

Amazing Pasta!!! 11/22/2008

Not too long ago I was steered to this place by a friend from the area and I have to say it was hands down the BEST pasta I have had in a Long, Long time. The service was good, they were prompt and there was not much of a wait for the food. \r I had an AMAZING dish, with fresh homemade tortellini, a cream sauce, peas and prosciutto. \r I have recommended this place to people and will continue to do so. Cons: A bit small so space is limited. more

Save your money! 9/9/2008

The place seemed promising visually with the decor and the patrons which you gave you that authentic ambiance. To start it off our waitress was not tentative since we had to wait a good 15-20 minutes to catch a employee's attention so that we can even order. That should have been a sign for us to go elsewhere. Our bottle of wine was WARM!? The mussels had no flavor with the exception of tasting fishy! After waiting another good 30 minutes we had to ask a staff member where our main dishes were, it was like they forgot that they had people waiting for food! I ordered the pizza which tasted like watered down tomato sauce and the rest of the food was below average. My advice: your going to have a better meal at home with Chef Boyardee, a pie from the local pizzeria, and a bottle of chianti from your local liquor store (at least it won't be warm!)..... more

Worst pizza in NYC 3/21/2008

Three years ago, the pizza was one of the best i ever ate. i went back a few times during the past 2 years and the pizza was really bad: the pizza dough was gummy and the ingresients (mozzarella and anciovies, or olives) did not have any flavor. I heard they changes the pizzaman: bad choice! Pros: Parking, service Cons: Pizza, food more

Authentic Italian w/excellent pizza and inexpensive vino 7/6/2007

I have eaten here on a few occasions over the past couple of years and have never been disappointed by the food. Although the staff can get overwhelmed, they do try their best to make you comfortable while you're waiting. The pizza is excellent and the pastas and other main dishes are very good. Very reasonbly priced wine list, which keeps the overall cost down. It's definitely authentic Italian food, very fresh and great flavors. A great neighborhood place! Pros: nice staff, great pizza, cheap vino, not rushed Cons: meals can take awhile more

Wonderful Staff 9/23/2006

Four of us went here on a Saturday night. They were slammed but sat us right away. We ordered our drinks and food. We waited over 45 minutes for our meal, which was too long for me. The manager helped bring our food and explained that everyone in the restaurant was getting pizza and that they were a little backed up, she apologized profusely. The food more than made up for it. I had the linguine with clams and it was delicious When they brought our check they also brought us a complimentary bottle of port to add to their apology. I would go here again based not simply on the food but on the nicest staff I have encountered in NYC. Pros: staff, food more

Best Italian in Cobble Hill 8/7/2006

By far the best Italian food in the Cobble Hill area. Restaurant is cozy, service is excellent, and the food is fantastic. Their mushroom risotto is a great dish, and their pizza rivals some of the top pizzeras in town. Prices are great for the quality you get. Pros: Great food, excellent service more

Excellent!! 12/2/2005

The food was amazing. I reccomend the Pacherri w/ shredded beef and the seafood soup. The staff was very friendly, which you don't encounter often...Really the most satisfying meal I've had in NYC and I've lived here for almost 2 years. Pros: food, service, atmosphere more

Harley Marc's Review 8/15/2004

Nestled away on trendy Smith Street in Brooklyn, NY, Caserta Vecchia stands out with the wonderful aromas of fresh sauces and the sounds of very satisfied locals. Conveniently located between the Bergan Street & Carroll Street on the F/G Line Caserta offers a cozy and relaxing atmosphere complete with a out door garden sheltered from the horns and sirens. Whether you roll up on a Harley or a Schwinn take a load off and warm up your taste buds to a glass of Sangria and a plate of Bruschetta. Pros: Family Atmosphere, Fresh Ingrediants, Clean, Clean, Clean more

Sono Buono 6/11/2004

Wow. Out of the restaurants sprouting on Smith St. this one stands out. The food is lovely: a delicious radiccio and mescun salad with lemon dressing, caramelized walnuts and gorganzola. The Gnocchi were light as a feather in a earthy ragu sauce with plenty of basil. My S.O. had a whole wheat pizza that converted me. Very nice, fresh, light, white wine sangria, sippped out on the airy wooden deck on a late spring evening was memorable. Pros: great food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff more
