I love going to Casa Carbone more

Way Over-rated 9/20/2010

Four of us went to Casa Carbone yesterday. Our friends wanted to go elsewhere, but their pick was a chain restaurant and as it was our choice, we picked CC since it is family-owned. Big mistake. The bread was a step removed from Wonder Bread, I have had a better salad when I took my grandson to the Golden Corral, and the desserts (we tried two of them) were only so-so. The entrees were also so-so -- nothing special, and way too heavy on the salt. The young lady who kept our water glasses topped up was fine, but our (male) waiter never did anything but take the orders and bring the servings. We finally got tired of having empty plates accumulate on the table, and we piled them up on an empty table next to us. If all you want to do is put stuff in your stomach, CC would work but would also be more expensive that other places that could do the same. If you are looking for good food, though, better look elsewhere. more

Great Food, Great Prices 5/16/2010

Why go to a chain like Olive Garden when you can go to Casa Carbone for better food at similar or even better prices? My first trip here was a success. Our family can be picky about food and everyone liked what they got. If you are looking for fru fru Italian, this is not the place. But for traditional recipes like lasagna and chicken parm, this is a great place. With many pasta dishes under $10, you won't break the bank. Great bread and service top off the place. The restaurant is huge and they accept reservations. We plan on going back in the future. Pros: Tasty foods, good prices Cons: Not much atmosphere more

Great Food, Friendly people 2/28/2007

Casa Carbone is a has great Italian cuisine. There are a few different seating areas that are perfect whether with a group, the family or on a date. It is a great family owned restaurant. Everyone is friendly and it is easy to tell that they take pride in their work. They take reservations for large parties and can accommodate almost any number. Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Seating Cons: No reservations for small parties more

Consistently Delicious 1/12/2007

Casa Carbone's food and service is excellent. Waiters and waitresses are friendly and concerned about the customers. The food is always delicious and filling. Casa Carbone always gives you a ton of food and it is so addicting I cannot stop eating. The Eggplant Marinara was the best I have ever had. It is breaded to perfection and the sauce is extraordinary. When you leave the restaurant you are stuffed to the max. The prices are also very reasonable. You won't feel like you've been robbed of your money. I have been to Casa Carbone dozens of times and it has been very consistent. Casa Carbone is an incredible restaurant and I am positive other people will enjoy it too. Pros: Great food, good service Cons: dark inside more

Date Night place to be 12/19/2006

Casa Carbone is a special part of Raleigh for family dining. All the food is good, anything with their marinara sauce is outstanding. Their service is friendly, attentive, and gracious. You feel like family as you are greeted in entering the restaurant. Their wine list gives many fine choices. The calamari is the best in Raleigh. Be warned that the antipasto can feed four with little room left over for the entree (If getting antipasto for four, order two extra stuffed clams). Probably the best value in dining in Raleigh. Do not be put off by long lines waiting to get in on the weekends, you normally are seated within 15 minutes and can be served a drink while you wait. Also, when they tell you that the plate is hot, believe them. Pros: Food, service, friendly family atmosphere, ample parking Cons: Closed Monday nights more

Great Food, Good Value 3/29/2006

I have eaten here many times and found the quality of the food and service to be consistantly wonderful. I have eaten at other italian restaurants and Casa Carbone is the best in Raleigh. This family owned and operated restaurant is a hidden treasure for many locals and a pleasant find for folks who a want good, hearty, homemade italian meal in a cozy setting. The prices are extremely affordable and the grouper special is my favorite. more

Save your money...order Dominos 3/15/2006

My husband order spagetti and I order Lasgana. They tasted exactly the same. The worst food we've had in a restaurant. It looks like the senior crowd really likes the place. Cons: everything more

Good italian 1/19/2006

I ate here several years ago while on a business trip. The food was good, nice and hearty. The staff was attentive but not overly so. The atmosphere isn't upscale but I was there to eat, not be seen or entertained. When my out of town family visits we usually end up here. It reminds me of the Italian restaurant that was near my house in RI. Pros: Large portions, quiet setting, good parking Cons: decor is dated more

Good, Not Great... 8/2/2005

Well, here we go again... I've lived in Raleigh for 3 years heard mixed reviews about Casa Carbone finally ordered take out last night. I ordered the Fett. Alfredo with Chicken, Ceaser Salad and bread...total bill was approx $19. All in all, I rate the food good, not great...with all due respect there are better Italian restaurants in the Triangle to choose from (solely my opinion) I was disappointed in the decor, and the darkness of the restaurant. My food would have been considered great if the dish would have had more flavor, my salad dressing was slightly biter and our bread was burnt...but, still good. I wasn't disappointed, just not overly excited. Pros: prompt service, ample parking, large quanities Cons: outdated decor, dark inside, food lacks flavor more

Don't go! 6/11/2005

Absolutely disappointing. Not only is the atmosphere outdated and uninviting, but the food is greatly lacking; a 13 year old could cook a better meal! Our plastic tablecloth was wet, the booth seats were covered in crumbs and we were served 4 glasses of water(for two people) in the first 3 minutes of entering the building. The food was below par; bland and unattracitve. The server was doing her best, but nothing could have saved the food. We couldn't wait to get out of there. Don't waste your time or money! more

Excellent 4/22/2005

Great food, value, service, and atmosphere. Like eating at Maria's home. Reservations only for large parties. Started eating here when it was in Ridgewood shopping center. Pros: crowded, value, parking Cons: crowded more

Not bad - not great 5/18/2004

I have had worse for sure but the cheese on the chicken parm wasn't even melted and the bread didn't seem fresh. The waitstaff was excellent however and the antipasta salad was not only large enough for 4 but good. Pros: Not a chain, cozy, family owned, attentive staff Cons: , average food more

Very cozy! 3/5/2004

Nice restaurant, it has a familiy atmosphere and feel. Food is great and good service. Some tables are in a bad location, where waiters come and go to the kitchen, it's a little distracting. But, if you got a good table this restaurant won't let you down. Pros: Food, Place, Service more

angela 10/27/2003

I am a transplant and was introduced to this great restaurant by my realtor 10 years ago, I have tried other Italian restaurants but the Casa remains my favorite! The food is consistently delicious, the service prompt and pleasant. While the menu offers many traditional dishes, they also have dishes that you will not find on other menus... Beef Bracciole, Chicken Oreganato, as well as offering fabulous seafood specials... my favorite is Grouper Puttanesca. Pros: family owned, afordable, consistent more

The Best Down to Earth Food 12/8/2002

My first introduction to REAL Italian food was with the Carbone Family 25 years ago. The homemade pizza dough, daily baked bread and fresh sauces cannot be topped. I have eaten gallons of their marinara sauce which goes well with the pasta, but totally completes the fried eggplant. When I lived in Raleigh I use to order a bowl of the sauce with bread and used that as the beginning to a meal. I've taken some Italian out of town friends there and they were floored with the veal and antipasto. Pros: good parking, reasonably priced, authentic Italian more

Buon Appetit!!! 11/27/2002

If you are looking for homemade food straight out of Italy, the Casa Carbone is the place to go. The Carbone family has been famous for their ""good eats"" for ages and still continue to be a success with the help of their daughter and son-in-law (Maria and Mike House.) So, if you are looking for authentic food for an affordable price, this is a must! Don't be surprised if you are formally greeted by of the family at the door, and expect great service and a smile. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

A Raleigh Institution 10/21/2002

I have been eating Italian food prepared by the Carbone family for over 30 years, in fact, the first real Italian food I ate was prepared by them. It amazes me that their menu today still has most of the classic dishes I've enjoyed for so long and the price hasn't gone up that much. The quality of food, service and atmosphere still shines thru after all these years. It is comforting to know that some things in life dont change. I love the antipasti platter and spaghetti with meatballs. The Marsala dishes are great as is the Cacciatore. more

One of my favorites 10/8/2002

I discovered Casa Carbone a couple of years ago and it has been one of my favorite places for Italian food. I love the food and the atmosphere is great as well. Their Ceasar Salad is excellent! Pros: Great Food, Good Wait Staff, Great atmosphere more
