Best

Pizza was amazing

Worst

The pizza was terrible but then again it is the California pizza kitchen. I should've known better and ordered from Lou Malnatis.

Great food, not so great service 7/25/2006

I like this pizza chain a lot. I went to this particular location for the first time about a week ago and I was pretty disappointed with the service. The food was great as always. I had the goat cheese and egg plant pizza and it was amazing and light. The service was not so amazing. Our waitress took forever to take our order (which she also messed up) and never came back to ask if we needed refills. When it was time to pay, she took her sweet old time (even though she was waiting on only one other table). The entire service experience was frustrating and slow, but the food was delicious. I probably won't go back to this particular location - but other locations I sure will visit! more

Not your run of the mill pizza place 6/16/2006

This is definitely not your run of the mill pizza place. It is a chain and it does a good job at being one. The pizza here is different. I feel like its lighter and much more tasty that those heavy pizza places. They don't pile on as much cheese and the crust is not as greasy. They have this spicy chicken pizza that is great. They will tell you that one pizza is only big enough for one person, but two can usually share in that one pizza. more

Sometimes a Craving Won't Let Go 5/24/2006

Even though it's a chain, a bit touristy, and there's too much darn yellow in the decor, I must confess I sometimes enjoy California Pizza Kitchen. The pizza toppings are unique, and I love all the "rustic" pizzas. This place is good for a shopping "pick-me-up" when you need to replete the energy stores. And you can get a decent glass of wine here, too. more

A good change 5/24/2006

If you are going to come here then leave your traditional ideas at home. The whole point of this place is trying something new. They have all different types of pizzas to choose from. One thing to be aware of is that this really is California pizza, so don't come here expecting to get Gino's East. more

Different Pizza 4/3/2006

If you are looking for a break from the heavy Chicago style pizza then give California Pizza Kitchen a try. They offer a variety of specialty pizza's and these are the items you really want to stick too instead of the everyday type toppings. I absolutely love their BBQ chicken pizza and you just cant find it anywhere but here. I also had a pizza with duck that was great too. The atmosphere is always clean and the service is top notch. more

Two different experiences... 3/9/2006

I think California Pizza Kitchen is just okay. I think it really depends on what you order here and you have to know what is good on their menu before you come. The first time I went, I had just a plain cheese pizza, which was really terrible. But I gave this place a second chance and tried their barbecued chicken pizza which was so much better. The pricing was good too here for the amount of food you get. So if you are planning on going here make sure to do a little bit of research! more

Pizza and Salads 3/9/2006

I have to admit that even though California Pizza Kitchen is a chain restaurant, I'm a fan. I love their pizzas and salads. Get the salad with the whole wheat crust - it's the best! I love splitting a salad and pizza with a friend. It's filling and affordable. My favorite pizza is the BBQ chicken salad. I also love their ranch dressing - seems tastier than the usual variety. more

Great Pizza and Service 1/14/2006

I love this restaurant. They’ve got a ton of different pizzas and salads and their service is really fast. I recommend actually going here to eat because their delivery is really expensive and slow. The tricolor salad is my favorite, its mixed greens with dressing but they give you a pizza crust with it so you can make your own healthy salad! The prices in the restaurant are very reasonable for the portions you get! more

It ain't Chicago Pizza, but its still great 1/5/2006

One of the perks of being a Chicago Cab driver is that you sometimes get nice tips, unusual tips. Back when this place was on Orleans I picked up a party coming from here and when they left they offered me their left over pizza which they had brought with them from their visit here. Since I am almost always hungry, I was thankful for the treat. Being a native Chicagoan, I was curious about this interloper from California. The pizza sample I had was spicy chicken. It was delicious! These guys put all kinds of unusual ingredients on pizza, and everything is thin crust. Goat cheese on pizza? Tandoori Chicken? Of course their success can be measured by the fact that now these ingredients no longer shock and surprise. Been there, done that, right? http://www.cpk.com/ more

Decent 12/12/2005

Never really had an OMG experience with CPK. The few times I was there, something bad always happened. Once, the food was terrible and stale. The second time, they took about half an hour to come out with it. And the 3rd, I've never had worse iced tea in my life. The concept seems really cool- pizza with different flavored toppings. BUt i'd pass and go for big bowl next door. more

An OK experience 11/27/2005

CPK experience was just ok. We ordered a margarita and a pizza. The drink was too mild. Not enough booze for your money. The pizza was ok as well. I ordered a roasted garlic pizza and it was just ordinary. Oh and I also ordered the BBQ salad of which i had heard great things. It was good indeed. By the way, the waiter was very cordial and gentle. All in all, they could have done better with the food. more
