Cafe Ladro makes me happy. 4/27/2006

Here ye, here ye: It may just be because the sun is out and I've had two iced lattes in the last hour and a half - but Cafe Ladro is a FANTASTIC coffee shop. I know. Seattle has 3 friendly neighborhood coffee shops per square foot. But this might be one of my faves. Their staff is uber friendly in a non invasive way, but more importantly the coffee is delicious. This location is at the heart of Lower Queen Anne so the crowd is eclectic. Prices are average, wifi is free, but again...their coffee tastes really, really good. I think I'm going to go get one more latte, let my enthusiasm go completely overboard, and call it a day. more

Welcome to the North Pole of service 2/7/2006

I have been going to this place on and off again for a few years, and everytime I get a cold, lackadaisical reception. Its like, yeah, you work in a coffee shop in Seattle, get over yourself. Other than that, I do like their fair trade, shade grown, handpicked, massaged coffee. The pastries prove to be okay, if not a bit disappointing in apperance. The menu does offer some intriguing departures from your normal mochas and lattes. They have a few drinks with orange zest, and others with different chocolates. I do appreciate the differences only because they still make the mainstream drinks well. My friend had their chai recently, and I'll admit too, it was very watery and not the best. more

Great coffee most of the time 8/17/2005

I frequent this coffeehouse quite often. When the coffee is on it is work of genius. Sometimes, inexplicably the quality takes a dive to almost the same level as Starbucks. This does not happen often though, as a reviewer I felt I should let you know just in case. Ladro also serves the usual assortment of pastries and granola. You can buy their beans and the granola to take home. The atmosphere is usually very pleasant and there are a few random outdoor seats for those days when you would like to sit outside. This coffeehouse sells that drink that many of us used to go out of our way to obtain at the Last Exit-The Medici. Ladro's version is almost as good with the right proportion of orange to chocolate. more

Smaller, independent beanery with locations springing up throughout the city. Good coffee, good atmosphere, and good hours . . . one of the latest places open for coffee in West Seattle. more

For the best Mocha with the slowest service in town. 8/15/2005

If you haven't had a Medici Mocha from Cafe Ladro you are really missing out! The Mocha is made using orange peel during the brewing process which leaves a subtle, delicious flavor. If you are brave enough to venture into the tiny Queen Anne location, be sure to feed the meter extra coins. I have been in this shop on numerous occasions and frequently find myself amazed at the shockingly slow service. The staff members seem to float along oblivious to patrons in a rush (or illegally parked) and seem perfectly happy to ignore patrons entirely while they finish a conversation. more

Favorite morning coffee spot 7/19/2005

I love the folks who work at this Ladro. They are always so happy, have great music on the stereo and seem to remember everyone's morning drink. And the bonus is that the coffee is delicous...full flavored, but not bitter. The perfect blend it seems. This is the best way to wake up in the morning and it gets your mood going in the right direction after interacting with the smiling and cheerful baristas! more
