Great food good price 7/20/2009

Hainan chicken is very original just like in China. Myself, I like Pork chop rice, Service and Amb. isn't great they like to pop you in a small table. Pros: Great food Cons: Service more

Hole in the wall, but I love it 2/21/2009

The portions are huge and most of the food is great. They are very generous with the amount of meat in most of the dishes. The restaurant pretty much has no ambiance and it is very casual, but the people are nice in a reserved. A good cleaning would be nice. I also don't like all the canned mushrooms they use (they use canned mushrooms for all their mushrooms, not just the asian mushrooms).I didn't like the taste of some things, but most are great. I recommend the following dishes: Wonton Soup, Sweet and Sour Soup, Salt and pepper shrimp (or squid), Bean curd beef, spicy chicken, mango chicken, and green beans with garlic. The seafood hotpot is AMAZING. It is also probably the healthiest thing on the menu and it tastes wonderful. I haven't enjoyed the noodle dishes (seemed flavorless) and I don't like their curries. The curries taste very different than thai curries and it could be that they make them exactly ""right"" and I just don't like the flavor... but I have a hard time imagining that they are supposed to have large chunks of barely cooked onion in them. Pros: yummy food, large portions, good prices Cons: too many canned vegetables more

Unpleasant experience 2/21/2008

Their food does taste good but I found a hair in one of the dishes and when I reported it, they were not apologetic about it at all and even had an attitude with our table after that. Customer service is seriously lacking. I probably wouldn't go back. more

We Will Not Return 5/20/2007

We entered this restaurant. The girl nodded her head our way from clear across the restaurant, to say: ""How many?"" with her eyebrows arching in question. I kindly mouthed the words, ""Two people"". She jerked her chin in the direction of a table. Okay. So it's a ""Seat Yourself"" type of service. We sat down and then cringed as we noticed their walls are in need of some heavy duty cleaning or new paint job. The girl immediately flew over to our table and deposited a glass of cold water for my son, and hot tea for me. I really get tired of these Chinese restaurants assuming I want tea and then adding it to my bill! Anyway, where was I? Oh yes...relating our terrible experience. Wasting no time to greet us with a smile or a "" I'll be right back to serve you,"" we proceeded to read their menu which was crammed underneath the glass tabletop. After choosing two dishes, we waited for her to come back and take our order...and we waited....and waited...and waited....They were not that busy...but still....we waited for someone to take our order. We finally left after 8 minutes (way too long to place an order). I was kind enough to leave some money for the tea that was foisted upon me. We won't return and they won't get another dime of my hard earned money. Cons: Service, Friendliness, Cleanliness!!! more

Good Food (may not be consistent) and Value. So-so for Service. 1/28/2007

Another one of those Chinese eating place where the good are very good but becoming not so good lately. Use to frequent this place on a weekly basis but the quality and portion of the food are becoming inconsistent. It is like different chef on different days. Some day it is pretty good other day are so-so. Portion-wise is the same thing. Overall rating is 8.9 as I wrote. I believe it is overated at 8.7. It is more like 6 to 7. For value and quality. Definitely not for service. BTW: Cash only at this establishment. I have a feeling the previous good chef has gone somewhere else. Pros: Good Food, Good value (most of the time). Fast service. Hungry. Eat quick and go place Cons: Wait person may not speak good English. Definitely not a romantic place. more

Big portions but not very tasty 6/7/2006

Being our second time to this establishment, we tried a few different items but came away unimpressed. Best dishes are the veggies ($8) or the chicken wings ($6). Everything else was just OK Cantonese cooking. Slightly better than I can make at home. You do get big portions however we don't look forward to eating their leftovers. Pros: Portions/Value, Veggies, Fried Chix Wings Cons: OK taste more

Great food at great value 12/15/2005

It's the best Chinese food on Eastside for my family and for my budget. Their curry dishes are the best. Portions are huge and prices are more than reasonable. Since they are so crowded most of the time, we usually call in for take-out 15 minutes ahead and they are always ready. Reservation is recommended for dine-in. Pros: Good portion, Good price, Good authentic food Cons: Can be crowded, Service can be slow more

The food we got was great 3/3/2005

Groups of seven can be difficult to serve, but we felt we had the right laid-back attitude to make everything go smoothly. Yet, by the end, we were debating exactly how little to tip. The food was good, some dishes too oily, but no one was complaining about that. Nor were the prices unreasonable. We had to send a representative from the table to get menus, service, and eventually one of the dishes which they forgot to make. Looking around, it seemed as though there were a number of tables wishing they could get someone, anyone's attention. Maybe it was an off day, but I wouln't recommend this place for groups or anyone in a rush (not that we were). Pros: inexpensive, yummy, big round table Cons: bad service, not enough water more

Best Value on East Side 2/19/2005

The food is excellent, and the prices are very cheap. An excellent place to take family and friends. Very kid friendly. Pros: Kid freindly, inexpensive, great food Cons: crowded more

The most authentic taste from Hong Kong 7/1/2004

This is the only restaurant on the Eastside that provides the most authentic Chinese food from Hong Kong. The selling point of Cafe ORI is the food, the taste and great prices. The specialties including Hoi Nam Chicken, Curry Chicken, Tantan Noodle and don't miss the Hong Kong styled tea with milk. Great prices. Services are fast and decent. Pros: Authentic HK styled, Great tastes, Inexpensive more

Null-satisfaction 5/17/2004

Walking into Cafe Ori, being greeted by someone with their mouth full of food was easy to forgive with my empty stomach. Once I seated myself and my girlfriend, we were approached immediately and asked if we are ready to order. Obviously, we asked for more time so 30 seconds later we were approached once again, being that it was an hour before closing we figured it is best to order quickly. Food tasted great and when it came time to pay, our credit cards were no good there (Cash, Check only). I rushed to the bank, withdrew the cash slapped on the table and got out there. For me, the service can take away from the experience and all of the five words that were said during our time there, no food is worth coming back to that service. Pros: Good food, Cheap prices, Large proportions Cons: , Poor service, No debit/credit more

Awesome!!! 6/11/2003

This is the most authentic Hong Kong style food on the East Side. Affordable and huge proportions, I usually have to doggy bag it for lunch the next day. The rice, noodle, and chow fun dishes are must-eats. Their curry brings a bit of Malaysian twist and it's awesome. They are great with takeouts too, usually 10 mins or so; which makes it great for those days when I get off work late and don't feel like cooking. Pros: Affordable, Huge proportions, Dishes come quick Cons: Wonton soup more

Amazing! 8/13/2002

I just started eating at Cafe Ori a few months ago. I used to drive all the way up to Yen Ching in Mountlake Terrace. Anyways, every time I call Cafe Ori has it ready to pick up by the time I get there ten minutes at the most! Its amazing, and without fail. They also have the best Chinese food in Bellevue (not greasy...sorry), at the best prices, and HUGE proportions! The hot and sour soup is rich in flavors, and the chow mien is very traditional with crispy and soft noodle options. They could offer more vegetarian options though. However, they have been VERY accommodating in the past by not adding the meats. I think Ive had take out there three times this week! Its just so convenient! Pros: Quick, Cheap, Traditional Cons: Needs More Vegetarian more

Simple Amazing 7/26/2002

This is one of the best food that I have ever eaten. I would recommend curry chicken with rice. Just too good and very economic. more
