Not at all impressed with this place. I came in the other night for the very first time because my gps spotted it. I thought this would be a good stop on my way back home up north. After 10 minutes the bartender nor waitress came by and I had to go to the bar to order my drink. The drink was good. The tall blonde guy made it. The blonde woman however had such a scowl on her face you think I was trying to sell her crack. Not a very clean place either. My table was dirty when I sat down and the tab from the last customer and dishes were still there 15 minutes later. It wasn't busy but I still had to go back to the bar and order my second drink and paid and left. Next time I'm in Des Moines I will be sure to check out other establishments. This one is sorely lacking in customer service. But I left a tip because I'm not a bitch like that female bartender seemed to be. more

great place in spite.... 1/7/2012

Great place in spite of the cold blooded old crab bartender that insist on keeping it a hundred degrees in the place. Don?t go in on Thursday or Friday afternoon and you won?t have to deal with her. Unfortunately she sticks around after shift and makes the rest staff and customers sweat their ars off until seven or so. The rest of the staff are a hoot and are the reason I go there. more

This place is awesome! The inside is enormous, pool tables, several tvs, fireplace, tons of pull tabs and pull tab machines. Everyone is real friendly, staff and customers. Get the burgers! 6 bucks, the cooks grind it themselves from steaks! If you're not a big burger fan, try one of their specials. It changes each night, and the it's set by the cooks. YARDARM WORSE BAR AROUND 4/27/2009

They pour heavy untill your wasted, then water down the drinks. It's true the cooks dont wash their hands after using the bathroom. The urinals havent been fixed in years. Some staff have 'ISSUES' And the bar is used as a motel after close, if ya know what i mean. I should know, I worked there for a year. RED ROBIN IS THE PLACE TO GO. Feces Burgers 4/1/2009

I was in the pub on a Friday and the cook was in the bathroom with me and did not wash her hands. I watched her walk into the kitchen and ignored the sink in there also. It was a bowel movement not urination if you know what i am saying. Pros: Skimpy Outfits Cons: Food is overpriced and the cook doesn't wash her hands. more

It's bad DONT GO 12/28/2008

The bartenders are rude! always shorthanded, messed up bar tab at the end of the night, their food is tasty but no worth being served by amaturs. Crowded, not good much. I couldnt play abr tabs because they were ""too busy"" the place is a joke, im telling you go else where!!!!! Pros: Great Food Cons: Waitress and bartenders more

I really like the RC factor, myself -- ""oooooh yeah"" :) 12/28/2007

Well, the regulars (myself included) may indeed be an acquired taste, but I have put in many an hour acquiring and refining that taste, and I love this bar. The food is inexpensive and great. The drinks are friendly. The staff are amusingly eccentric, interesting, funny, and entertaining. Come in and get to know us, and then judge for yourself. If you have a seat at the bar, you'll make friends, guaranteed (whether you want them or not). :) Pros: Stacy, Dennis, Erick, Jeeter, Jen, Justus, Barbara, Katie, Kathy, Angel, DD -- and RC :) Cons: they sometimes close for the night more

How do you spell annoying? RC 12/20/2007

The atmosphere is great and the food is spectacular. The only problem I had was this clown. He introduced himself about 5 times and kept changing the sports channel on me and my husband. I believe his name was RC and he wouldn't stop flirting with my husband. He was falling all over the place ranting nonsense. The little blonde gal was helpful but heavens cut that guy off!!! Dennis is the bartender at the Yardarm, I have been there many times and he ALWAYS has a smile on his face. Dennis is a bartender with magnitude and enthusiasm and is Pros: great beer selection, good food, great bartender (DENNIS), good prices Cons: inexperienced bartender (Erick) and he talks way too much about his private life. more

This place has it all. Better than the Metropolitan Grill's steaks. World famous prime rib. The best bartender in the seattle possibly west coast area. Pros: great service, best bartender, best food in the west more

this is a negihborhood pub. because of its size the wait staff is stretched during peak times. the room can be quite smokey also. but as a non-smoker, the taste is worth the smell. Pros: best burger available, decent prices, good beer selection Cons: slow service, smokey, crowded fri./sat. pm more

GREAT Beer selection! 2/25/2003

The Yardarm is one of the best bars in the Des Moines/SeaTac area. One of the best microbrew selections around, great food specials (along with the typical bar food), pool, darts too. It does get rather crowded Fri/Sat, so it pays to get there early. Quite a mix of people are in there.. from 21 year olds to 60 year olds. Makes for an interesting evening. :-) Pros: Beer Selection, great Halibut fish and chips! Cons: Never any spots at the bar! more
