Overland Veterinary Clinic

I am still numb by the loss of my beautiful dog. What hurts even more is that I missed the warning signs that I could not trust Overland. The unprofessional staff cannot be missed, but I looked past that with the belief that Dr. Schwartz was intelligent and honest. While my dog suffered for months with a treatable disease, Dr. Schwartz fiddled during multiple visits. He recommended no tests and did not seem the slightest bit alarmed when my dog lost a large proportion of his body weight. After a specialist finally diagnosed him during an ER visit and some questions to me, Dr. Schwartz only undermined the diagnosis and confused me in a very emotional situation. The specialist was right; (Dr.?) Schwartz was either amazingly clueless or had some shockingly evil motive to cover his previous error. It might have been too late anyway. My poor, sweet boy is gone. more

I have always had good experiences with the vets and the staff here. Professional, kind and compassionate. more

I Dr schwartz mostly and a couple of time to the other doctors. They misdiagnosed my cat and did all kinds of unnecessary and expensive procedures to my cat. This went on FOR YEARS as the cat suffered. I finally took the cat for a second opinion and he was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney but it was too last as the cat had lived with the condition from two until he died at 8. That cat suffered for 6 years due to this clinics incompetance. He could have been treated if he had been properly diagnosed. more

This clinic is horrible. I had gone to them for many years with several animals and thank god the animals were basically healthy. I had one cat who had cancer that they misdiagnosed for years. They did all kinds of treatments for the cat that were unnecessary and expensive. I took the cat for a second opinion and was told the cat had cancer for years which went undiagnosed and it was too late and he died. They are cat killers. I went to Louis A. Schwartz mostly. I later found out they have a bad rep. more

They did a spay on my dog who later got very sick from the surgery and later died. Apparently they had tied off her bowels when they did the surgery. She died a long and horrible death as she wasn't able to get rid of any of the waste in her body.. I trusted them and they lied to me. I would never have known about their botched surgery but during my dogs last days, they were closed so I went to another vet and when she died, that vet did the postmortem. He found that they had surgically tied off her bowels. He said that he called them and told them what their surgeon had done and they told him that doctor was no longer there anymore. They lied. The doctor IS still there and doing surgery. They destroyed the file on my dog after the vet board investigated them. They were cited by the vet board for not keeping proper files. BEWARE. They are bad news. Protect your dog - go anywhere else but here. more

Speaking of Dr. Metten and Dr. Shane only. Never got to see Dr. Schwartz, and have heard great things about him. more

I have mixed feelings about this Veternary Clinic. First of all, I think they are a bit unprofessional. They're a bit rude on the phone. I scheduled an appointment with them, and showed to the appointment for them to say that I wasn't on their list and the one doctor they have that works out of that office was called to jury duty. I then left (took 1/2 day off work to take my cats in!) to go back home (which is about 20 minutes away) and then they called me saying that the doctor was back from jury duty and that I could come back. I didn't go back... it was too far and too late. Other than that, I guess they are ok. Prices are middle of the road. more

I have taken my two cats to Dr. Schwartz for the last nine years and he is compassionate, professional, communicative, understanding and very kind. He takes the time to really explain what is going on and how he will treat a problem, without being condescending. Has a lovely new clinic at Overland and Palms, treating dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, etc. Fair prices, too. Great vet, great person. more
