Davis Optical X-Press

I have been a patient at Davis optical for a couple of years now, and I am extremely pleased with their service. They are very flexible and have always been courteous. Doctor Tom, the optometrist, is nicest and kindest doctor I have ever met. The receptionists are always willing to help, and have always been patient with me, even though it took me a while to figure out how to put in contact lenses!! I even had to change my brand of contacts a couple of times because of irritation, nevertheless, they were always willing to accommodate my needs in quick and respectful manner. If you need an optometrist or contact lenses....Davis optical is the place to go.... more

Going to get your eyes checked is not something that people look forward to. Therefore it should be easy, comfortable and a somewhat enjoyable experience. At least that is how I have always felt after getting my eyes checked, until I decided to go to Davis Optical X-press in the University District. This place has been known to make their customers feel underappreciated and frustrated, and believe it or not it was the first Davis Optical store that opened! Before I totally influence your opinion about this place, I want to be clear on what I am ranting about. The 'contact lens' section of the store is the problem, not the 'glasses' section of the store. I do not want to send the 'glasses' department any bad exposure because the people over at the 'contact lens' section cannot seem to keep their bad attitudes to themselves. Regarding my personal experience I had the unfortunate pleasure to visit this place more than once because this doctor did nothing in his power to help me find the kind of contacts that were right for me. Every time I had to go back, every time I wanted to cry. It seemed like I was bothering the receptionist anytime I asked a question or needed her help. The doctor's superior attitude makes you think that you are less of a person. There is only so much rudeness one can take. To get an objective view on this treatment, I asked a few friends to go to this place and to see how they were treated. Without surprise, I was not alone. I want to warn all of you who are in search of a decent optometrist to keep this place in mind and never go there unless you like being mistreated. more

I used to work at Davis Optical on University Way and I have to recommend them for anyone looking for eyeglasses. I know from experience that their customer service is very important. They depend on refers and repeat customers and as a result have been around since 1955/ They will always order a special frame or color if you want to try it--with no obligation to buy. They'll consider your prescription and help you find glasses that work best for you. In fact, they won't let you buy a pair of glasses that you look bad in (unless of course you insist), because it as a reflection on the person that helped you. Everyone is trained on what sort of glasses and colors look best on different faces. When you go, feel free to take your time and ask for help. They'll give you a genuine opinion, not a sales pitch. more
