This place truly delivers great bar food. The ingredients always taste fresh and delicious. All special instructions are well handled and the food is at our door in under an hour....

Worst

Disappointing--I ordered the goat cheese salad. It came without the goat cheese, which was basically the highlight of the salad.

Better than Average Bar Food 5/27/2006

Really good bar, both salads and sandwiches. The Cardinal Sandwich (steak with a horseradish sauce) overflows with good taste; good with any fries flavor: regular, chimichurri, and fire...or tater tots or a side salad. Other sandwiches feature burgers, chicken and fish. Extensive list of draft and bottle beers, a short wine list and drink specials (i.e. PBR) Outdoor seating in warm weather, and on a side street, just off Lincoln Ave., so the noise level is a a minimum. more

Brownstone 1/12/2006

At Brownstone, located on Lincoln Avenue just south of Irving Park in Chicago, you can find outstanding bar food. They have a great menu and that is why I return time and time again to this establishment. My personal favorite at Brownstone is the hot pretzel appetizer. If you are a fan of hot pretzels, you will like what Brownstone has to offer. In addition, you can find any of their salads very substantial. Another popular favorite is the fish tacos. This is a great place to go with friends order some appetizers and drinks and simply just hang out. The bar is clean and well managed. All of their staff can described as friendly and considerate. In addition there are several screens scattered around the bar for your viewing pleasure. Be careful, when certain football games are on, the Brownstone does get rather crowded.     This spacious tavern takes on a turn-of-the-century guise amid exposed brick and tall windows with a colossal, curving, mahogany mirror-backed bar, Tiffany-style stained-glass chandeliers and tufted black-leather seating. The contemporary twists come in the exposed ductwork and the five plasma and four large LCD screens showing an endless stream of sporting events. Loud alt-rock and hip-hop plays on weekend nights when an upbeat 20s to 30s crowd predominates.

    The Draw
    Enhancing the joy of wide-screen athletic action are 16 drafts (including Belgian Bolleke, Boddingston's and Woodchuck cider), 38 bottled beers and 18 wines. But the Brownstone's menu is a potent off-season draw itself. In-demand apps include the mini-wich sampler (beef, barbecue pork, turkey) and Reuben wraps. Salads, sandwiches, hickory burger, and entrees such as Thai chili salmon and Australian lamb chops set a higher standard for American bar food.
