Editorial review from Citysearch 4/20/2013

I have a family member that resides in Russell County that is a little larger than most folks. There is not ONE hospital that can accommodate any of her needs. They have NO LIFT large enough to lift her and they have NO bed large enough to hold her..She is 22 yrs old and has lived in the same area all her life. She has numerous medical problems as she has spina bifida and is confined to a wheel chair. She can not even get into some medical buildings doors as they are too small. Does anyone have any suggestions at all?? I feel she deserves the same medical care and options as the next guy. If it seems I am writing this with a bit of an attitude, I am. On more than one occasion she should have been kept over night for observation but they sent her home instead because they could not accommodate her. My fear is that someday she may need some real medical attention and not one facility will be able to treat her effectively. more

Incompetent 5/19/2012

Most docters there don't know what they're doing! I have seen only 1 docter there that is thorough and takes his time with you. Dr. Dennison is a wonderful dr. But the center now has a new policy that you can not switch docters anymore within the center. So if I have no confidence in my dr. it's too bad for me I just have to grin and bear it. My dr. there is to busy elsewhere to attend to his patients. He's never there, for one and when he is he leaves early! The lab is just is bad I was just told my c-diff specimen is ""pending"", what the hell does that mean!???? SHE didn't know I would have to call back on monday!! You call your self a MEDICAL center?? I don't think so!! Negligent is what I call them!! more

Wonderful Resource 7/8/2011

I wanted to address the other two reviews because I am very familiar with this facility having been treated by doctors here my whole life. I can't speak for the nurse that ""treated badly"" saw, but I do agree that the doctor you saw does have an unfortunately rigid and unfriendly bedside manner. He is also well-known for refusing to prescribe painkillers for anything that isn't visibly agonizing. I also injured my back a year ago and got the same response from this doctor. So know that you are not alone, I have known him for years and I got the flexerall too. Know that the other doctors in the practice -- ALL of them -- have a friendlier manner. As for the other reviewer, I have run into the same circumstance with my children. But the reason behind it is not laziness, it's legal. The walk-in is staffed by the physicians in the group, most of whom are not pediatricians. If you go there and get lucky (or call ahead) and the doctor in the walk-in is Dr. Mohlman or one of the other practicing pediatricians, she will see your child. But thanks to our litigious society and doctors' enormous insurance premiums, they can't see kids in the walk-in. I showed up with my son with a fishhook in his finger and was turned away by the receptionist in the walk-in, but because Dr. Mohlman is our regular doctor, we went to her office and she kindly took the time to go into the clinic and take care of my son. Alternatively, the Medical Canter has a Barrington office where I believe they take kids..... Anyway, I have always enjoyed a very high standard of care from the doctors in this group, and the walk-in clinic, while not always accepting of pediatric cases, is a wonderful resource when you want to see a doctor without waiting for yours to be available or going to the hospital and sitting in the er triage for the day. more

Great walk-in if u want to be treated like a drug seeker!! 11/12/2009

It is Thursday ,November 12th 2009 and i just got home from the Bristol County Medical Ctr, and once i walked out that door i was in tears for the way i was treated, or should i say ""not treated""!! . It began with the nurse saying ""oh you have done this before. The last time i visted this medical center was 1 yr ago after i was in a car accident. Since then i have been diagnosed with 2 herniated and 1 disk tear. My cervical 2-3, thoracic 5-6, and the tear is l-5-s-1. Arthritis in my thoracic, djd dz, and spondylosis. Ive been in rehabilitation for this problems. I injured my back 2 days ago, unlike what is already going on. I was on the bike path in Barrington with my daughter, which was in an elmo walker. I saw a biker coming fast so i quickly turned bent over and quickly picked her up. As soon as i did i heard and felt something in my lower lumbar rip, or something for 2 days i have been in serious pain. I was trying ice , and anti-immflamatories, but it is getting worse as time goes on. On a scale of 1-10 the discomfort is a 9. Dr Howard Perrone came in the room never examined my injury, did no vitals. I explained what happened the past year and his response was welll i can give you flexerall. He said "" is that good enough"" immediatly the way he said it was as if i was a drug addict lookung for drugs. I was shocked, and horrified. He wrote the prescription for a muscle relaxer without even examing me, and walked out. I nicley asked the nurse when was the last time i was seen here and for what. She replied ""Oh a while, a year ago, 1 week after you were in the car accident"". I walked out and broke down in tears, because i was painful, and the way he looked and spoke to me. A YEAR! i Felt dirty. Im now going to RI hospital, because unfortunatly this state has a HIGH ratefor drug abusers and seekers. It's not right to ASSUME that with a patient that has legitmate chronic back problems. Pros: its in BRISTOL Cons: The inconsiderate DR'S more

Neglect 5/6/2009

My son fell off of his scooter and cut his hand pretty badly. I brought him to the Bristol Medical Center where we were told the doctor thought it was too much work for her. We were told he could not be treated there. I was informed that they are only obligated to treat adults. Ridiculous, just plain ridiculous. Good to know I will have to call 911 in the future if I have a mild emergency with one of my children. Basically, the doctor was too lazy to treat my son's wound, but she wasn't too lazy to treat what appeared to be a hypochondriac who came in because she had a small lump in her arm. Just another reminder of how little the people in Rhode Island think of children and their well being. Pros: Hmm.... Cons: Incompetence and laziness by the entire staff more
