Great dining option by the ballpark! 3/18/2010

Small 2 story restaurant that is warm and inviting, yet in an industrial way. (It is in the SOMA / Ballpark area after all) But if you live in the area, it's conveniently located on Brannan, it's usually sunny, and it's casual with your standard American faire, including burgers, beer, and a brunch menu. It's close the ballpark, so if you want to spend the day in the area or get together before a game, this is an option. \r \r I'm not wowed particularly by the food, it was good but nothing stands out of the ordinary to me in memory. But what does stand out for me, is that for a group of 9 girls, we were treated with horrible service. They mixed up our group and separated us when seating us, the waitress was slow in bringing out drinks whenever we were out, and she NO patience in taking our orders, she was actually snappy to us. \r \r Really? 9 nice girls that are just there to catch up, munch on some food and have a good time. Also these 9 girls are more than generous tippers. \r \r But oh no she was rude. And when we mentioned it to her colleague, another waiter he got on the defense right away. (As he should defend a coworker.......) But we weren't mean, why so sensitive? more

Brunch 5/4/2009

The Brick House Cafe is a great place for brunch. They have great eggs benedict and they have $3 mimosas and $5 Bloody Marys. more

Fresh bread and ingredients equals good place 4/29/2009

Just experienced my first lunch at the Brick House and was very pleased. I chose the Brick House melt and the sandwich was super. Sweet sliced tomoatoes, fresh lettuce, juicy turkey with bleu cheese was the best. From the menu, it seems like this might be a good spot for Happy Hour as well with many good promotions.\r The side salad was ok. more

Fun place, fun people, good food 3/18/2008

I work nearby and met a friend for a quick lunch during the week. Neither of us had the burgers that have received rave reviews but our sandwiches were very good, reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly. I'd definitely go back and try a burger next time, or have a drink after work. Pros: Staff and Food Cons: No table service, order at counter and they bring your food to you more

BEST burgers in SF 1/8/2007

We finally made a point to eat at the Brickhouse Cafe after driving by it many times and wondering what it was like. I called to make sure they were open, and the person who answered the phone was nice and courteous. When I asked if I might need reservations on a Friday night, the woman said that I must be thinking of ""Brick"", a fancier restaurant in the Tenderloin.\r \r The Brickhouse is very warm and inviting on the inside, somewhat reminescent of a colonial brick house that's been transformed into a restaurant. Dig the large, potted ficus tree in the middle of the first floor and the table with a hole in the middle to accomodate it. The room is ringed with cozy booths and some small table seating. The bar area is very convivial and inviting, and it appears to be a popular happy hour after-work destination. They have a full bar and we enjoyed some creative pint margaritas.... but we came for the kobe wagyu beef burgers. .. and we weren't disappointed. This place has the best burgers-- especially for the money-- we've had anywhere in the City. And we've tried, Balboa Cafe, Joe's Cable Car, Slow Club, etc. We got the three-cheese burgers with bacon and it was divine. We WILL go back. Also, the table service was good and friendly. It's a good value, great food, and fun atmosphere. Check it out! Pros: GREAT burgers, good service, good atmosphere more

Great ribs, beer and burgers 12/14/2006

I was walking by this place and decided to drop in... very glad i did. I had the ribs which were awesome and sucked back a number a good cheap beer... the owners were there and i chatted with them for an hour... i wish i lived close so i could call this my local bar Pros: Overall great experience Cons: not near my house more

Airy Bar/Restaurant with good drink specials 10/25/2006

We went for happy hour one Friday ($3 for pint draught). It has a lot of windows and dark wood, that gives it a cozy, warm feeling. It's a nice afterwork place to have a drink or have a casual meal. more

I read the reviews before I went - my waitress was awesome...I had the chicken brie hot melt and it was fabulous. Pros: delicious food, unassuming atmosphere more

Great Food / HORRENDOUS, RUDE Service 6/14/2006

I've eaten here MANY times as I work around the corner from the restaurant. There is one server who was exceedingly rude to me recently. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and decided that she was flustered and a bit overwhelmed because it was so busy. However, the next time I went back, she was yelling at everybody and just being RUDE as HELL. This is a real shame considering the food is so good, but this server ruins it for me. she's got to go.... Pros: Food Cons: Service more

Delightfully untrendy 2/16/2006

Unlike so many bars in SF, the Brick House is quiet and spacious, with nice wide booths to sit in. The wait staff is cool, laid back, and helpful. Beer prices are very low, with some $1 or $2 draft nights. The kobe beef burgers are enormous, a good deal for the reasonable price. This place will make transplanted Midwesterners (and anyone else) feel right at home. Pros: Easygoing atmosphere, Great prices, Great service Cons: Not enough big tables more

Great Lunch 10/27/2005

The Brick House Cafe serves great food, everything looked good. The employees were a different story. They were indifferent at best. But I definitely recommend eating here for lunch. The sandwiches and burgers are delicious. Because of that, this place can get crowded at lunch so try to get there early. Pros: Great Food, Full Bar Cons: Poor Service, No Parking more
