Sometimes you just have a craving for classic dishes prepared well and served with old fashioned service. They have many traditional French specialties but manage to keep the fee...

I went there for Brunch expecting to find great food and service ? given the prices that?s the least you should expect. What I got was OK food and TERRIBLE service. When we were...

What's so great? 3/7/2004

My wife and I may have ordered wrong, but the main course we ordered was par at most. We got the 'steak' which was a thin slab of beef cooked in butter sitting on top of fries. For the price we paid, it was not worth it. Maybe we ordered wrong, our appetizer was good and so was the wine selection and dessert. We looked around at the plates at other tables and they looked better. The service was excellent though which keeps me from giving this restaurant a bad rating, but there are too many other restaurants where I feel I could have done better. more

Go to Jo's 3/31/2003

I have been to Jo's on multiple occasions. I am a picky eater, so the limited menu is a little tough, but everything I have ordered, from the Pork Tenderloin, to the steak tartar, to the burger is amazing...plus save room for dessert! The martinis are the best in town, that is if you like them Shakin'!! And the Service is the best part, make sure to eat at the bar some night and say hi to Michael, Kevin and Cesan. more

good french fare 1/20/2003

Very nice atmosphere, great food. Feels like a cafe in Paris. It wouold be nice if they stayed open later... more

Fabulous 1/2/2003

The food was delicious. My friend had the Skate and I had the Swordfish. Beautifully prepared, both were moist and full of flavor. As an appetizer, I ordered the Pate and my friend ordered the Onion soup. I liked hers better than mine, but we were very pleased. The service had unmatched quality. We highly recommend the profiterol with the chocolate sauce as a desert (yum!). Pros: great food, great service, good wine menu Cons: parking more

Com-frit-ly the best... 11/26/2002

Fries are awesome with the Steak Frit!! Nobody else in town compares. more

Surprisingly Enjoyable 11/18/2002

Surprisingly Enjoyable dinner we had last night at Brasserie Jo's. There were 9 of us and everyone enjoyed their meals and also enjoyed the fabulous desserts. Cons: Parking more

Good Pre-Show Dinner 11/7/2002

Good French cuisine. We dined there before a show at the Huntington Theater. The Salmon was excellent, as was the Scallops. The raw bar appetizer of clams, oysters, shrimp and Crab claw was good, except the crab. I think it was too chilled. Dessert was excellent. The wait staff was superb. The restaurant has a lot of seating, and since we had an early dinner, seemed very empty. Although by the time we left, it was a lot fuller. more

wonderful attentive service 9/15/2002

The steak frites and filet of skate were both excellent! Service and all French wine list were great. Chateau Margeaux by the glass! A tad too much butter on the potatoes, and by the was people, the chocolate sauce on the profiterole tasted like plain old hersheys. Not bad though. We didn't get the cheese trolley (we were too stuffed) but we saw it and it looked very ambitious for Boston. The menu itself is a little all over the place, but service, atmosphere and all around great food are all found here. MUCH better than the hotel. Pros: wine list, location, service, filet of skate wing more

Decent at best. 8/19/2002

I ate lunch here recently, and wasn't too impressed. I ate at the bar, which has diner style quality (i.e. not good). The free loaf of bread with carrot strings is very tasty, but my steak fritas wasn't that great. I've had much better fries at Abe and Louie's, and the steak itself was just mediocre. On the plus side, service was excellent. more
