Unprofessional and unreliable 1/27/2011

Shipped an overnight letter fedex 2 days later the package did not arrive at its destination (los angeles to burbank) very close.. so i go to see what happened. I walk in the store with a friendly but concerned attitude to find out what is going on (this letter is a legal document and very important). I stand at the counter, 2 guys are sitting there listing to music, they do not approach the counter to help me out. I ask, ""can you help me?"" The guy still sitting down says what? (still doesn't stand up or approach the counter.. I can hear him ichatting people and switching between songs very unprofessional and rude) I explain i need some help with a letter that hasn't been received. He finally comes up to me, I explain that I payed extra money to ship a package overnight and it has not arrived. The guy tells me he has no idea how to check on that, and maybe his friend does. They both stare at the computer and keep telling me they have no idea whats going on and they would have to call another employee.. As they are doing this I notice a large box filled with fedex envelops... I ask if my letter is still sitting in the box on the floor, they say ""no sir, it would not be in that box"" I look in the box and it's right there... It still hasn't shipped out!! Three days later! So iI pick up the letter (a bit annoyed at this point) the two guys hang up with fedex and with the offsite employee and say... ""woah i don't know how that happened."" I let them know I would like a refund because I paid extra $ and the letter never went out... They tell me they don't know how to give a refund. I told them look its $33.. its not a lot of money but it is the principal, I paid for a service that you failed to complete. Please give me a refund.. they say no... I leave... My girlfriend calls and reasons with one of the employees and she texts me to say ""go back in 1 hour and Kimberly will give you your refund.. I was happy to hear it had been resolved. I don't mind an honest mistake, but dont make me pay for it... I walk back in. When they go to give me the refund they open the cash register and there is only about $7 in the whole register... The guy says... ""Oh we don't have any cash right now. I don't even really work here... ask the other guy""... the other guy leaves the store on the phone.. I wait for him to come back in... I politely ask him how long i need to wait until they have cash and i can get my refund.. The employee then tells me ""I don't know man, I just got out of jail 2 days ago."" I stand there for a few more seconds shocked at the lack of professionalism and also awaiting him to follow up with an answer to how i can get my money... they don't say anything so i leave. They gave me a card with the owners number... As I left i realize i forgot my receipt with them (damn.. now this will be even harder) I call the owners number and Kimberly answers (the girl i shipped with) I let her know im getting frustrated with whats going on.. and she says she can't do anything till the owner Manny, comes back.. I say when is that.. she says maybe two days from now... I let her know that i think they are acting unprofessional, she tells me i never paid for it... I start to get mad and tell her about how i feel they are running their business in an unfair and unprofessional manner... she interrupts ""you don't have to be rude"" I say I am not being rude but i am frustrated... she hangs up.. I walked down to the big fedex store on wilshire and i mention to the girl behind the counter about the experience I had... She said ""I hear that all the time... she said, i guess they mainly hire ex-cons and I have heard several complaints"" I still don't have my refund. I Hope Manny the manager is more friendly than others he has working for him. Very frustrating experience I WOULD STAY FAR FAR AWAY. more

Shady 10/17/2010

I went in on a Friday to have a one-pound package shipped from Los Angeles to Northern California. I requested next-day (Saturday) delivery of the package. Merchant quoted $90+ for delivery before 10:30am and $47 for delivery before 3:30pm. I opted for the $47 delivery, only to discover later after tracking the package online that it would not be delivered until Monday (three days later). I was shocked. I have unsuccessfully attempted to resolve this issue with the merchant only to be told that ""Everyone in business knows that 'next day' means 'next business day.'"" Why would anyone pay $90+ or $47 to have a one-pound package shipped in three days?? That's insane when I easily could have shipped it via the post office for much less. The price quoted to me was reflective of a Saturday delivery service, as evidenced by a price search I conducted online at UPS, which revealed that Saturday delivery for a one-pound package mailed on Friday would be $50. Merchant was arrogant, condescending, and blatantly misrepresented the service as Saturday delivery. It is my belief that merchant purposely chose slower delivery in order to pocket the difference for himself. Avoid this place at all costs. more
