Best

I really don't know what I can say about this place that does it justice. Bottlerock is hands-down THE BEST wine restaurant in the westside...forget being the best in culver. ...

Worst

My husband and I came back from Napa and decided to continue our magical wine country experience by trying a wine bar near our home. There was a lot of buzz about Bottle Rock, so ...

The best wine bar in culver city 4/10/2007

I have to say that bottlerock is the best wine bar in culver city for several reasons. For starting got waited on by nino who rocks the place and explains the wine like it is a poetry by itself. We have never been to a place where the wine guy who talks about wine is a true wine poet and knows wine and really takes time and energy to explain each wine with lot of depth.Oh my god wine is sacred to me but i guess it is more sacred to nino who manages the place flawless. We had a lot of questions and boy he has the right answers for all the wine questions.Nino was so gracious in his wine knowledge and explaing each wine like it was a perfect science to me and my friends.Nino who are you and please tell me you are not the wine god which i think you are.bottlerock is a great place and is packed on a tuesday night and although they were short staffed nino gave us a great education in wine which even a wine class cannot teach me.i love wine but now i would drink it more the way nino described it.His exact words for a california zinfindel were as god himself spoke to the grapes and made the wine himself were very unique and genuine and boy we loved it.My god nino you are a true wine lover and we shall return to hear your next description of a new wine which you can intoduce to us.Bottlerock you are great to have a true wine afficinado like him taking care of your customers.Thank you mr nino the wine poet. more

worth the trip, great selection 4/6/2007

Really cool hangout. I go to this place not really foor its wine but the beer. My brother and I go here about twice a month to try out the selction of brews. Its not the widest selction I ever seen but eclectic to say the least. Only bottles, though I heard from one of the guys that they're going to have beers on tap in the future. Upon reading the reviews on citysearch, I have to wonder if this Nino guy posts his own reviews? Either way, check this place out, totally worth it. more

bottlerock is heaven 4/6/2007

I read about bottlerock in the los angeles magazine and also from one of girlfriends who happens to be a regular at bottlerock.Bottlerock has a huge wine list and amazing wines from all over the world.I love the concept of opening any bottle as long as you order two glasses of it besides the list by the glass.I love this place and love the cute guy who waited on us whom all of us wanted to take him home. The service is very good and above all he was charming and cute in explaing each wine how it taste. We finally had to ask for our bill since we had dinner reservations at the fords filling station. On the way out we asked the hostess for his name and she said nino.Oh my god i love this place and love him more so we are coming back soon for the wines and to see him.my only complain at bottlerock is the music a bit too loud for our taste. Pros: Cute waiter and wines Cons: Music too loud more

Eye candy 4/4/2007

I went their with my girlfriends the other night. It was packed! But we got a seat quickly and got to have a glass of wine while we waited. The wine was great, good service. The biggest plus are the servers. Those boys are so cute! Especially the one with the shaved head! Pros: Where the BOYS are Cons: nothing really more

great wines and awsome service 4/2/2007

I went to bottlerock with my girlfriends last saturday for the first time.We were seated promptly by a sweet hostess and was waited on by a very handsome person who later told his name nino.He explained the concept at bottlerock and answered all the questions about wine and why wine should be enjoyed instead of making a big fuss.Nino was great in explaing all the varietals of wines and different wine regions that we were flabergasted by his knowledge and his humbleness. We ended up getting costentino st helena cab franc and ended with a red car syrah which was phenomenal.I have to say lot of places dont have people like him who really explain wine in depth and not push you wines which you dont like.We had a great time and later on found out that he is the main man who manages the place.Nino thank you so much for your time and taking good care of us.We will return soon and will tell more people about bottlerock and you. Please make sure you ask for him because he knows wine and he knows service. more

wines and gracious owner 3/31/2007

We love bottlerock because of nino who manages and owns the place. He is the master sommelier of wines by far with his knowledge and his english charms to customers. We love you nino and bottlerock because of you.Bottlerock is astounding because nino is there otherwise we would not come here.Nino knows his wine, his customers and above all has great style of dressing as well.We love you nino and love your place.I am bringing a date for you nino you handsome brit.See you saturady and love your choices. more

Horrific!!!!!!! 3/21/2007

The owner is rude, the service is horrendous and don't ask about why certain things are on the menu (such as fois gras, which is being outlawed in California) because the owner will tell you to do other, better things with your time. more

nel vino cerchiamo al menon piacer 2/26/2007

I went for the first time to Bottle Rock last week with a couple of buddies, and had a blast trying different wines. We must have drunk four or five glasses each, but different wines. The manager Nino told us what to try, and we drank some Bordeaux wines from France and from California. The place has a huge selection to choose from and he explained a lot about each wine. Nice guy. I only wish there was more food on the menu, but for a bar, their cheese etc. was enough. Good crowd, everybody pretty sociable. I enjoyed it and my buddies and I are definitely coming here next week. good music too, but not opera. more

My fav spot 2/23/2007

My boyfriend saw Bottle Rock one time and told me about it (I love wine), so we stopped by one night...and have been going pretty much every week since then. It's a chill place that's great for unwinding after work. It has a relaxed atmosphere and good music to keep you relaxed, but upbeat and in a good mood at the same time. They have a great selection of wine and the waiters are knowledgable, so they can help you select a wine. They also offer a weekly flight of 3 1oz glass of wine for $12. I love the yummy selection of cheeses and other snacks to munch on while I'm there. Although the service can sometimes be slow, it's nothing to sweat if you have a glass to sip on while you wait! Pros: Music and wine Cons: You may wait for ahile more

our new hangout 2/22/2007

The room is modern and roomy, there are lots of hip customers and it?s a sociable place to enjoy good wines with your friends. Even if you don?t know much about different wines, they have a huge selection, with wines in every price range from very cheap to ?bring your daddy? prices! Plus, you can get an education from the waiting staff. Nino served us and practically gave a wine appreciation course at our table while helping us choose what to try! He?s full of information about lots of wines, knows all about the different wineries and has been to many of them himself in various countries. We had a few laughs with him too. Nino is a clever guy, and made us feel very welcome. This is our new hangout! more

great place 2/21/2007

I read the reviews on citysearcha lot and love the feedback on this site. Bottle Rock came highly recommended and had to try it out. I was completely impressed with this place. Wine selection was impressive and the food complimented it well. The only thing that bothered me was the owner, Nino, was charming but duped us into some glasses of wine without telling us the price and was quite out of our budget. I mean the wine was great just wished he would have told us what we were getting into. But check this place out, you will definitely have a great time. Pros: great selection more

Bottle Rock On! 2/17/2007

""BottleRock"" is an interesting name. I was walking by one day and wanted to know what it was, so I walked in. The first thing you see is a wall of wine bottes lying on their sides. Hey, a wine place! A wine bar it turned out. I love wine - let's try it! I got the menu, lots of choices, though not much food but plenty of cheese. I expected high prices, and whereas there are plenty of choices of wines for $50 a glass, I was surprised to see whole bottles offerd for half that price and wine by the glass is very, very affordable. I think I saw several for $5-10 a glas. The man who served me Nino, the Manager as it turned out, was un-be-lievable as to how much he knows about wine! He dressed sharp, his wine knowledge was sharp, and his service was sharp. I liked his friendly way, and he gave me a mini-wine class when discussing the choices of French bordeaux wines which I love. Nino is a character; he said ""wine is life, it's a journey of self enjoyment"" or words to that effect. I think he's obsessed with wines, and in his job, that's not a bad thing! He has traveled all over the world, and started talking about wineries in various countries, and when he described the characteristics of the wines, it was like wine poetry! Nino was gracious with his time and made sure he thoroughly described all the wines we were tlaking about. I asked a lot of questions, and his knowledge is so superior that in the end I just asked him to select something for me and I'd go with his choice. Well, he sure knows what he's doing! The wines he brought were delicious! I've been to some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and some of the best in France and Italy and Germany, and I never met someone like Nino with so much knowledge about the wine regions of the world, and so much willingness to spend the time and share his obvious enthusiasm and information about wines. You won't go wrong letting Nino choose your wines! I'm definitely going back, and asking for Nino. Pros: large selection, Nino is very knowledgeable about wines Cons: not much food, but enough to enjoy with wine more

So this guy walks in to a bar... 2/14/2007

...and looks around and see's a partially packed house with wines on the wall, something smelling delicious in the air and conversation buzzing all around. We were greeted by a well dressed gentleman and take our seats. We look over the menu that has wines by the glass, tapas menu, cheese list and a beer menu. Not to mention a binder of all the wines in the store for drinking or take home. Our server, really not that typical in a wine bar, with his nose pierced and tattoo's, patientley guided us through the process of ordering the start of many glasses of beverages and helped us with getting some food to go along with wine and my friend, some beer. Now the food here is totally underrated. The caprese, salami, grilled cheese are down right, how do I put this...yummy yumsters? And also the cheese?! Manchego, gouda and newly introduced to me, robiola. (I wrote them all down) Amazing. The crowd was pouring in slowly as the night was moving along, so my friends and I people watched, tried a few new glasses and our server, who we now know as Todd, worked hard to fight through the crowd to make us feel comfortable. We ended our night at Bottle Rock with a suggested moscato to satisfy our sweet tooth along with the apple tart. This place will be seeing our faces again. Hope to see yours there too! Pros: Drinks, food, service! more

McBottleRock 2/13/2007

These people at BottleRock should put up a sign saying: ""Over 22,000 glasses of wine served!"" (whatever the right number is) and keep increasing the number, like McDonald's did with burgers, because I think this place could really take off and become a chain of wine bars, the place is so good! I don't know about you, but I keep coming back to a restaurant (or bar) because I like the owners (or managers) and enjoy the fact that they recognize me and are friendly and are even entertaining. Nino, the manager of BottleRock fits that bill to a ""T""! I'll keep coming back to enjoy his wine wisdom, his joking sense of humor and his friendly personality. And the guy knows so much about wines! It's an education to listen to him. He recommended a couple of wines we loved, a merlot and a cab. BottleRock has a great location in Culver City, intimate and upscale, and they serve good food too. The selection of wines seems vast and the prices are definitely reasonable. Check it out! more

SIMPLY FANTASTIC! 2/7/2007

The wine selection is very good, The price is amazing. The food is to die for (try the caprese!) Nino's attentiveness is worth the very long time it takes to get the food, but liek I said the food is very, very good. It is so refreshing to finally have a REAL wine bar in Los Angeles. Pros: Food, Wine, Prices Cons: Slow food service. more

Great Concept!!! 2/6/2007

My wife and I recentley went to this place and was very suprised with the selection of their many wines and competative prices. The owner of Bottle Rock, Nino, was very busy overlooking his bar but took the time out to come over, introduce himself and make a suggestion of wines to pair with our favorite cheeses. The layout was charming, service was great and the food and wine were excellent! more

great decor, great wines, great service 1/31/2007

I recently went to BottleRock and had a great time! Everyone was very cordial. Because of the catering business my wife and I had for 15 years, we have eaten and partaken of wine in some of the best restaurants in France as well as Los Angeles. For example, we?ve drunk some fantastic St. Emilion in the town of St. Emilion. At BottleRock we had the pleasure of being helped by the manager Nino, who is one of the most knowledgeable wine experts I have ever met. His ability to describe wines and his upbeat personality made the whole experience fun! He helped us pick some really great wines. You can have them by the glass, and when they sell you a bottle, they charge retail prices, not restaurant prices! If you don't take it home but drink it there, corkage is only $10. Great concept! I loved the modern decor with a wall of wines. I plan on taking my friends and business colleagues to BottleRock and look forward to more of their great wines! And great service! more

I liked it! 1/27/2007

My girlfriend and I went to BottleRock last night after dinner for a couple of drinks. It was extremely busy but the wait wasn't too bad. We waited by the door with a glass of wine and when we were seated, we were greeted by our server and got started. The cheese menu was amazing, perfectly paired with our Pinot's. The crowd was cool and the music was great. A wine bar playing rock? Who knew? The staff was knowledgeable and our waiter Todd was real cool. Check this place out and have a few. more

An Illusion 1/21/2007

I was looking forward to having a wine bar in the center of town. After my first disappointing experience, and giving the benefit of the doubt to the staff and their hospitality, I must say that I am still disappointed. Bottle Rock has a wide variety of quality wine, but we were treated poorly each time we went there; to drink a glass and to purchase bottles. The staff acts as if we are doing them a favor by giving them business. They are not warm nor hospitable. It is a shame to know there is such a noticeable difference between the quality of wine and the quality of service. Pros: wide variety of quality wines Cons: service more

culver city's hot new place 1/15/2007

We went to bottle rock few nights ago with my girlfriends for the first time.Although they were quite busy,we put our name on the waiting list and got seated within twenty minutes.Let me tell you this place rocks, with wines and food and the hippest music on the background.I am a certified sommelier myself and was very impressed with the gentleman who waited on us.I asked a zillion questions about wine and food, his response was prompt and on the ball.Bottlerock's wine prices are hard to beat as well and they do not over push expensive stuff.Me and my girlfriends were amazed at this cool hot place which will be my favourite wine bar to go to from now on.I did not remember our server's name but he was wairing a cool t shirt with mr wine logo on it.Bottlerock has every thing perfect going for them, especially for a new place.Bottlerock you are the best wine bar by far to me and my girlfriends.See you soon. Pros: Service, wines more
