A great night out 5/14/2007

My fiancee and I went to BOKA last week and it was definitely an experience. The atmosphere gives off a very trendy vibe and the happy hour is well worth it. We started with one of their signature cocktails, which was delicious. and then decided to stay for dinner. We ordered a couple of the urban bites which were small but were perfect for tasting. We then had the rib eye and the lamb and both were superb. They were coupled with very original sides that brought out very interesting flavors. The service was very attentive and the sommelier helped us pick wine that went very well with dinner. I have to say I will definitely add BOKA to my list of top Seattle restaurants. Pros: Menu, Happy Hour, Service Cons: Can be busy so I would recommend reservations more

Cool cocktails, hot patio! 5/8/2007

I recently went to Boka during one of our rare sunny Seattle days and was pleased to see that the patio was already open! Hardly anyone in the city has a nice patio this time of year, but Boka was rockin! We sat outside all night and they turned the heaters on for us when it got dark. The staff was so courteous to even reserve a table inside for us in case we wanted to move. And i have to mention their signature cocktails. I had the Fresh, whis has gin, mint, cucumber and soda. It was so refreshing I must have had at least three. Pros: Great food and people more

Great service, superb food 5/8/2007

I went to BOKA with my family a couple weeks ago and had a great time. We arrived early for our reservation so the manager bought us a round of drinks in the bar while we waited for the table to be ready (which only took about five minutes). We started with these little appetizers called ""urban bites"" which are actually ""bite"" size but delicious. especially the oyster poboy. Our server sold us on the pork belly BLT which we were a little nervous about, but it was amazing! Probably not the healthiest but we all wanted more. I had the crispy salmon for an entree. YUM. It was so fresh and very simple. The scallops my mom had were great too with gnocchi and basil butter. We ordered everything our server reccomnded which was a smart move. He really seemed to know the menu and didn't just say that everything was great which is a pet peeve of mine. I will definately be back, especially when the weather warms up enough to sit on the patio for cocktails! Pros: Great service and food Cons: Not close enough to my house more

Great Interior, So So Food, Not Good For Large Parties. 4/20/2007

My friends and I made reservations for this restaurant a month and a half before our dinner. There were 8 of us. We got there, the service was great, the food was about a 4 out of 10, then the bill came. They would not split the bill 8 ways, only two ways. When we asked why not, they said it would take too much time. This is something that should have been told to us the over the phone when we made our reservation. I've never been to a restaurant that would not split the bill, and we go out all of the time. The hard part was we all had cards to pay with. We actually had to get up and use the ATM in the hotel next door. No one should ever have to run to the ATM at a restaurant that nice and that price. Pros: Nice interior Cons: Not good for large parties. more

Great for cocktails 12/22/2006

Went to BOKA for Happy Hour this week and had a great time. The cocktails are delicious! A little on the sweet side but very tasty. We had a few nibbles and found them to satisflying. The service was pretty slow. The rooom is beautiful- very modern yet comfortable. I look forward to returning to try them out for lunch or dinner. more

beautiful place, odd to bad service and blah food 12/13/2006

When my girlfriend and I walked into Boka we were pleased with the beauty and decor of the restaurant. We started the night off at Joey's bar on Lake Union and were excited to try out Boka's. The waitress took our drink order but brought us the wrong drink. She apologized and then took 15 minutes to bring it back as she stood there lost in space. The drink was great when we finally got it. We told here we wanted to wait for the late night happy hour to order food, and when it came, she was nowhere to be found for another 15 minutes. We changed seats to the bar and ordered food from the bartender. The crew was nervous and strange, not professional at all. The bartender was obliviously picking at his beard?!? No kidding! The tomato bisque was very bland and the grilled cheese looked great but tasted awful. We both love cheeses but this one was way too much. The pigs in a blanket almost made me gag. The pork was ok but the biscuit tasted like it was made with bad butter. Both the lobster croquettes and the dungeness crab cupcakes were ok. The lobster was the best but neither was anything to write home about. I reallize this review was harsh, but if it keeps someone from having the same experience then it was worth it. We both eat out quite a bit, both for fine dinning and casual. If you are looking for an elegant place to eat this is not it. Pros: ambience, location Cons: food, service more

3 visits, no issues 11/22/2006

I live in the neighborhood so was keen to have a new place to hang. I've had dinner once and three times for drinks and apps. Dinner was on a Sunday night, so pretty mellow and very attentive service. Getting the food to the table was on the slow side, but everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. I agree the portions are small and the overall ""concept"" seems a little on the ""precious"" side, but that's what they offer as do other restaurants of this ilk. If portions are a great concern, head to the Cheesecake Factory or Claim Jumper. more

Unimaginative, weak taste, bad waiter SKIP IT! 11/20/2006

This was our first and last visit to Boka. We went on a Monday night and it was only about 1/3 full. The restaurant had a nice chic atmosphere, but that's where the good comments stop. The waiter was cranky and condescending. None of the food ordered between three people was even close to being good tasting. Basically, the food at Boka is without flavor or imagination. Money wasted and we won't go back. If you're thinking of trying Boka, try everyplace else first. Pros: Cool hotel. The rooms are great. But this is supposed to be about the restaurant, isn't it? Cons: Poor service, bland food. Our drinks went dry more than once. more

Amazing cocktails & fantastic food 11/4/2006

A very cool bar & restaurant, the food is different and the cocktails fresh and fabulous. Pros: Cocktails & unusual food Cons: none! more

Best of Everything I have ever seen in Seattle WOW WOW WOW 10/19/2006

Most amazing space in Seattle with snappy staff and superb small plates!! Will go here again and again. The girls were superb and the wine list long and fun. Pros: Cool Place with cool people Cons: none I could see more

Great bar, below average restaurant. 10/13/2006

This is a snazy place, no doubt about it. The bar and the hotel have very hip decor. The drinks were good and the bar servers very friendly. more

Original Decor and Fabulous Food to Match 10/10/2006

Enter BOKA and you are escaping to an unique dining experience. We found the restaurant to be very private. The original decor, alternating lighting and even clever dishware made the experience memorable. The waitstaff was cheerful and attentive and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. But the food, it is all about the food! For starters, we tried the delicious lobster croquettes and the crab cupcakes followed by the Thai chicken lollipops which were imaginatively presented. For dinner, our halibut and lamb earned raves. It was a fabulous night out. more

Great drinks and atmosphere but don't go if you're hungry. 10/4/2006

This restaurant/bar has a very ""New York"" atmosphere with regard to the decor but the night we were there, which was a Thursday, there were very few people and the place seemed a little empty. The decor is VERY cool and the drink menu very creative. Pros: ambiance, drinks, service Cons: small portions more

Most Unusual Restaurant with a Japanese Cheff but not Japanese food. AMAZING is all I can say 10/3/2006

The staff are switched on. No other way to describe it. The Roasted King Salmon was nothing short of exquisite. The cesar was wonderful and the Spanish White Anchovies as a side were wonderful. The wine by the glass, Chateau Bel Air , drinks like a $125 wine for the low price of $9 per glass or ??. Reasonable prices with over the moon quality, quality, quality, qualit, Pros: Unusual atmosphere and ambiance, great staff, really enjoying the task at hand Cons: Not enough money in the world to go around, lovely place and staff and exquisite food more

Take her on a date here! 9/17/2006

We had a great experience! Our server was fun, and great with recomending personal favorites. The husky beef tenderloin was phenomenal!!! The drinks were a must have! Try the white peach cosmo or the lemon drop. Both great choices, not too sweet either. I think this is a great date place, for dinner or just for the bar. The portions are perfect (quality not quantity) and the flavors were wonderful. The food is neatly arranged and well thought out. I will be visiting this restaurant again. Pros: Romantic environment, So easy to valet, great food Cons: If on a date, be sure to sit in a booth for privacy. more

Great Attention to Detail- Creative, Wonderful Food! 9/10/2006

We recently enjoyed a night of cocktails with friends followed by dinner at BOKA and had an incredible experience. From the individual touches of the staff, a personal table visit by the chef and constant attentiveness to our needs, we had a great night! The New York steak and ""Tongue and Cheek"" special were amazing. The innovative combinations of ingredients combined with the upbeat, creative design of the restaurant made for a great experience. Great wine and drink list add to it all while the ambiance constantly changes and delights your evening. Don't forget the Red Velvet Cake to finish off the evening... more

no good 9/1/2006

dinner at BOKA was really bad more

Bad Mojo at Boka 8/14/2006

I was in a group of 5 people who visited Boka in August 2006. We were very disappointed with this restaurant. It was not crowded or busy when we arrived, but it took 15 minutes for us to get a server over to take a drink order. He was very distracted (by what we could never tell) and we had to order again after 10 more minutes. He claimed the bartender was ""very busy"", yet we could see the two bartenders standing behind the bar just yakking it up. The drink order, when it finally arrived, had several mistakes. The cosmos were warm, and one of the ""signature"" drinks tasted horrid. more

Cool ambiance! 8/4/2006

Pros: Ambiance, decor, service Cons: small happy hour portions more
