Best store for nursing bras and baby carriers! more

Can not try on slings/carriers in store 6/29/2010

I went to this store this afternoon specifically to try on (and buy) a particular carrier. However, when I got there, I was told by the clerk that I could not try the carriers/slings on with my daughter. I would have to attend a session that is held once or twice a month (for a fee, I think she said $30) to try on the different carriers. I already have a sling and another carrier, my daugher is one year old, and I am 99% sure I will be buying this particular brand carrier, so the ""session"" idea doesn't really work for me. Just want to let people know about this, since I traveled over 45 minutes specifically to get there. more

Great store for new parents 7/6/2009

I went to Boing Boing this morning. I got a sling and some nursing tops, and Boing Boing will definitely be my first stop when I need any more stuff for me and baby. (They were so nice, they even let me feed her right in the store :)!) They have a great selection of merchandise, and I love the idea of supporting a small local business. Five stars!!!! Pros: Great service, so helpful and nice, two locations!!! more

Joining a New Mothers Group is the Best Reward!! 7/6/2009

They opened up a new shop in the south slope that is even more amazing. Boing Boing was always the go to shop for creative, inexpensive and local gifts. Then I became a mom! Now I live closer to their second store; which has saved my life. The owner helped me find the most comfortable nursing bra-helped me with my sling, and even sat with me for half an hour while I nursed my newborn! She is a lactation counselor and her stores are wonderful because of her integrity and compassion. The new shop has a baby scale, a back room just for nursing moms, and I joined a moms group which was the best decision I've ever made. Sign up for a moms group! It will change your life!! Pros: Informative, low pressure, intelligent selection, Cons: the new store isn't open on weekends more

I Want Products NOT Made in China! 2/25/2009

I really wish they'd carry something like Bobux baby shoes. I've looked all over the internet and they are eco friendly, baby friendly & NOT MADE ION CHINA!!! more

Karen the owner is so helpful 2/19/2009

I was having so many breastfeeding issues (low milk supply / baby with reflux). I worked with a lacation consultant and nothing seemed to help. Karen listened (without judgement) and really helped me. She told me about the SNS and let me try it there showing me how to use it. She also helped me pick out a better pillow for us. Needless to say this REALLY helped bring in more milk in a few days and allowed me and my baby to work out a feeding system that worked for us. more

Best Baby Stores in Park Slope! 2/11/2009

I have been shopping at Boing Boing since my 1st daughter was born almost 11 years ago. This store is more than just a store, it is a community resource. Hundreds, more likely, thousands of moms have met and started support groups by meeting through the ""Group Registery"" at the site on 6th Ave, and now there are ongoing nursing groups and sing alongs and other various parenting related support groups at the newer shop on 7th Ave. And since you don't need another $800 dollar stroller, they really do take up too much space...you can find a fabulous silk, fleece, or solar veil sling, starting from $65. I had 2 weddings to attend a week apart this summer out of town and along with the 10 year old and 7 year old had my 10 month old to carry. I was able to find the perfect sling to wear with both dresses and dance the night away with Karen's help. The sling packs well and makes baby happy! (If I had to do it again though, I would buy 1 dress and 2 different slings, as I would get much more value with 2 slings I can use daily for years rather than 2 dresses I only wear on special occasions). Pros: Green and organic items and beautiful slings! Cons: I spend more money than I plan every time I go because there's so many great things there! more

Boing Boing is awesome! 12/8/2008

Karen at Boing Boing saved my life. I gave birth to my baby 6 weeks early and was having nursing issues and feeling pretty awful. I went to see her, and not only did she totally fix my problem by recommending a supplementary system and showing me how to use it as I was clueless, she was warm, patient and just amazing. In addition, the store has great slings, adorable clothes and everything new moms need. Thanks, Karen! Pros: Great selection, caring staff Cons: None! more

Slings Make Life Easier! This store can help. 7/22/2008

This shop has the best selection of slings anywhere. The girl helped me pick out which one was best for me, and since my baby was born in June I got a really light solarveil pouch sling. They have sling classes at their other shop, and I found it really helpful to get one on one help. It is now July, and I cannot imagine carrying my baby any other way! I also got my nursing bras there (love the bravado bodysilk!) and other essentials, but mostly, I will remember this store for converting me into a sling user. It does make life easier! Thank you Boing Boing! more

Cool kids store 4/23/2008

I have to buy lots of presents for my freinds kids, and this place always has something cool. Their prices are much better than area (I wanted to return the onesie I got after I saw they had it for $5 less@!) It's an easy place to shop, no hassles, lots of cool new parent books. Get the ""Baby's 1st tattoo"" book, it's always a blast at baby showers. Pros: cool kids stuff, not pretentious. cheap more

The new store is even better! 4/23/2008

I wanted to write about their new store, but it wasn't listed. Boing is an awesome place to visit, the owner is so helpful with your nursing problems. They have a ""nursing sanctuary"" where you can sit in the beautiful back room and take your time with your baby. I love their relaxed atmosphere, and would highly recommend it to any new parent. They have everything you need, lots of carriers to try on, and are as patient as can be. Pros: The most slings anywhere, patient staff, nursing room, more

More fun at the new Boing 4/4/2008

Boing! as much fun as it's original - Boing Boing on Union St. I was introduced to the first one, when I needed a present for my first grandchild, and wanted to keep up with the times. Hip is one word for both Boing Boing, and Boing, but it is more than that. It is also practical, organic, handmade and LOCAL, especially the new store. I personally find it to be an energy booster, which is surely needed, no matter what your generation, when interacting with newborns. As for gifts, there is an endless supply of creative and yet practical ideas, and that saves the time of shopping around, even if you are not so lucky as to find the owner, Karen, around to help you out. If you are in the neighborhood of Park Slope you are indeed fortunate. But then one would assume that the owner of Boing Boing would have figured out what Brooklyn neighborhood is the newest, hippest neighborhood in Brooklyn. I'd expect nothing less. more

A Brooklyn Landmark! 4/3/2008

I thought after my second child I wouldn't have to go back to Boing Boing. I""m there every week! They always have what I'm looking for; like the NoseFrida, which my doula recommended. (I'll review this product later) Their prices are great, but you can also find really beautiful nursing gowns there if you want to spend more. I still have my maya sling from my first child, and the same woman who helped me out 2 years ago was still working there! They're so helpful with those who can't figure out the gazillions of slings on their own. I'm always amazed at their patience. IT would be great if they had the sling lady there every day. It's a warm, loving, and welcoming environment, and I am happy they are still around. Pros: friendly, helpful, welcoming place to nurse your baby Cons: could use more staff more

Great neighborhood store in Park Slope 4/3/2008

I read about this store on a Brooklyn blog, and couldn't disagree more with the negative review below. I've gone in there with a list a mile long and the salespeople were patient and helpful. They had an excellent array of slings. I had heard great things from other parents in the neighborhood, and am happy to report they were right. Pros: Friendly staff, great selection more

Check out Boing in the South Slope! 4/2/2008

As a South Slope resident with a young child, I was relieved when the owner of Boing Boing opened a branch in my neighborhood. The selection is less plentiful, but she can get things if you need them. I like this space much more than the Central Slope one, because it has a large back room that's open if you need to stop in during a rainy afternoon to nurse or just allow your child to walk around and play with some toys. She also allows small groups of moms to meet there. It's an amazing addition to the community -- check it out! Pros: Good selection, lovely space for sitting in the back Cons: Fewer items than main branch more

ok products, but the service stinks 3/28/2008

I called to see what time they were closing, and we got there ten minutes before, cold march day three month old in tow, to exchange something. The lady at the counter told us they were closed and that we could not come in door was locked. I was really ticked off but my wife didn't want me to make a scene since i have a tendency to sob and pull my hair out at the slightest provocation. So we left, but i have always harbored a resentment for the people of that locale ever since. They are the epitome of park slope stroller nazis. Uber-Mommies, everybody else is doing it wrong-i know how to raise your child better types. Blahh! Pros: good products Cons: wretched people selling them more

The first and only store for new parents! 12/17/2007

I am so glad this store is still here--and they recently started carrying wool diapers again! It seems that whatever I need; they have it! I bought my pump there, and then got spare parts for my friend. I got my beautiful belabumbum lace nursing bra there, as well as some glamourmom tops, organic nursing pads, and tons of other stuff. Let me just add, that even though I shop there as a mom, I would recommend this store for anyone who wants to buy a gift for a new mom! Just get them gift certificate--because nursing bras are soooo essential--and their selection is amazing. I love this place! Pros: Low pressure sales, wide selection of goods, great pump prices Cons: they could use more staff sometimes to help with the slings more

A great store for new parents 11/27/2007

This is truly a great store for new parents. I just had my first child a few months ago and have been able to buy everything from my nursing bra to baby clothes here. The salespeople are really helpful and are always able to show me what I'm looking for. The selection is really good too. Makes it much easier to be able to shop for everything in one place rather than go to several different stores to look for what I need. My sister-in-law has two babies and recommended Boing Boing to me and I'm so glad she did. Every new mom should know about this store! Pros: selection, helpful salespeople more

A True Resource for New Parents 9/25/2007

You will not believe how much stuff you need when you have a baby! They had everything I needed, and didnt' try to sell me anything I didn't. I love variety of things the store carries for mother and baby, and also got some great gifts there. I got my Pronto from there, for less than they sell it on 7th Ave, and so many other things I could not find anywhere else. This store is a must have for new parents. Sign up for a new mothers group while you're there. We don't meet at the store, but that's how it started. Pros: Great selection, competitively priced, very helpful staff Cons: not enough sling selection more

More than just a store, a real community service. 9/24/2007

When I first moved to Park Slope, I heard about this store from all my friends. They told me how they met each other tthrough there, and how I would be going there every when I had my baby. They were right! I got my first nursing bra there, my first sling there, my first everything there! They are very service oriented, and will always give you the information you're looking for, or be able to refer you to a specialist or book. It gets a little crowded, so sometimes youhave to wait, but it's a very pleasant atmosphere to wait in. They even had GQ for my husband to read. More than just a store, it's a real community center. Pros: Very helpful, large selection of nursing bras and clothing, Mothers Groups Cons: only 1 fitting room, needs more upscale maternity wear, more
