Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I found Bogart's to be average steaks at best, with prices equivalent to the best in the Chicagoland area. You certainly get a decent amount of foo...

A once great steakhouse run into the ground by new ownership 5/1/2009

This place used to be fantastic until it was sold to a group of psychos who quickly earned a reputation among clientele for being rude, and business suffered. I had the displeasure of having an encounter with one individual who came to me to build a website for the restaurant. It became clear early on that I was working with an individual who wasn't playing with a full deck. He eventually stiffed me after several hours of work on a website that never got published, and told me "shame on me for trusting him", his exact words. Also, it's nice to hear that they sold a bunch of gift cards to people around Christmas of last year before closing their doors shortly after. That sounds about right for the group of characters who ran that joint.. Pros: Used to be among the top steakhouses in the Chicagoland area Cons: Was sold to some unsavory characters and earned a bad rep more

Nice, glad that made it known 12/5/2008

Bogarts Is the best its ever been 5/26/2008

As a long time resident of Tinley Park I have been everywhere. Although the food is a little pricy at least its finally getting cooked right(this is my 20th visit or so). The new owners are doing a great job, to me it feels as if the food here is finally edible! I had some kind of grouper and my guy had a strip, both were delicious. So all in all I'd be back anyway but now I'm excited! Only one problem were was / is Justin?! Pros: Good Food, Nice Place Cons: The name and theme could take a hike more

The overall ambience of the restaurant...the filet is excellent! 4/25/2008

When I go out to eat, I'm looking for a fun place, with great food. Bogarts has it...and then some. Very little wait, once our name was submitted, followed by propmpt service. The wait staff allowed us to talk, laugh, and just have a grand ole time, while visiting the table just the right amount of times. One of the owners visited the table, and was extremely personable. I've been there several times, and it's one of those reatsaurants that I just can't see myself getting tired of...Great Job! Pros: The filet...ambience...wait staff Cons: Have not experienced any! more

The place for superb food in the southwest burbs of Chicago 4/13/2008

I visited Bogarts this past Saturday (4-12-08). This is the first time I've been there since the new owner took over. What a great improvement. The waitstaff was very warm and inviting (esp. Justin). This waiter made the evening great. He had an excellent sense of humor. The food was terrific. Everything was done perfectly. The ribeye was awesome, the filet mignon was butterflied and melted like butter in your mouth. The ribs were cooked to perfection. The new owner is readily available and assists in serving her customers. Kudos to the new owners!!! Keep up the good work. BTW. Justin is a waiter and does not cut the fruit in the back.LOL Pros: Food and serice was outstanding Cons: None more

Horrible 3/29/2008

we ate here saturday night it was the 29th of march and let me tell you it was horrible first off the decore in there is horrific they have these fans that look like the chains on bikes they use paper table cloths with all black napkins this place is in need of an interior decorator asap. They had a display case full of meats that were brown also you can see inside thier cooler where whole meat was displayed but also next to the raw meat was bread and cooked items. iam no expert on sanation but isnt that called cross contamination. after we got our table it took the server 25 min to come to our table and ask us what we wanted to drink we ordered and an hour later we got our food i never knew it took that long to cook a med rare steak (it doesnt). when we got our food finally there was this garnish that was a joke its three carrot slices , a cherry tomato and a sprig of rosemary according to the culinary experts a garnish must be edible this one is not you cannot eat the sprig of rosemary it tastes like youre eatting a piece of bark, the steak was served with your choice of potatoes and pass on anything but fries the rest of the potatoes are kept in a hot box and you can tell the steak was very burnt. my wife ordered the giambotta wich was flavored with no salt and very tasteless the garnish on this one was very sloppy it looks like the chef had three squeeze bottles in his hand and just started pouring it all over the rim of the plate and when the server brought it i could see her fingerprint in it. we had a couple of apps. the calamari was tough and not fresh and the brushetta was flavorless. after all this disappointment came our bill. no problem i thought i have a gift certificate well they dont except them at all. so if you have one you cant use it. after arrguing with the owner for awhile (shes very rude) i had to pay with cash and throw the certificate in the trash. my recomendation if you want to have a bad meal then this is the perfect place for you. Pros: there were none Cons: the entire place more

Bogart's different locations - different owners and managers 2/21/2008

Good to hear a couple positive reviews for the newly-managed/owned location in Tinley Park. We've been patrons at Bogart's in Homewood for years, and the quality hasn't slipped a bit! The food is still excellent and the service is usually very good. They also have karaoke on Friday nights, and it gets crazy but fun--get seats by 9:30 if you don't want to stand. I haven't been to the Bogart's in Tinley for years, so I can't comment much but wish them well, of course. Just wanted to say that apparently there's been NO CONNECTION between the two locations for several years. If you liked Bogart's better years ago and don't like the changes at Tinley Park, just go to Homewood! more

Yummy! 2/13/2008

This was our first time at the infamous Bogarts. Our food was excellent. The Bruschetta was the BEST bruschetta I've ever had. Our service was great, drinks were flowing and the food was phenominal! We were especially surprised to see Kareokee on Friday nights, we stuck around for a few songs. Lots of fun! The new owners are doing a great job. We will definately be going back for more! more

What a Difference!!! 2/5/2008

My husband and I have been going to Bogarts for years. The last few years, we went out of habit - the food was not wonderful. After hearing Bogarts is under new managment. We had to check it out. WOW, what a difference! The menu is fabulous - they have some very unique and tempting appetizers. The menu is much more diverse. The food was incredible!! Our service fantastic (Thanks to Bonnie). The presentation of the food was excellent, almost too good to eat. This is NOT the same Bogarts. The new owners have done a fabulous job of revamping an old establishment. In camparison to Chef Paul's...prices are about the same. Bogarts offers a more interesting menu, Chef Paul's is more classic charhouse. Each have their own specialty dishes and both provide a great steak. If I had to choose between the two, I would choose Bogarts only because of their new menu. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. more

Worst Service EVER!!! 1/2/2008

The server (i did not catch her name) was very unprofessional and flat out rude. The food was tasteless! We sent 2 steaks back to the kitchen so that more salt and pepper could be added. It came back well done and still nasty. It looked like someone stuck them in the microwave. We had the waitress remove the steaks...we could not eat that! She still had the nerve to try and charge us for the steaks! I ordered a cocktail that was not on the menu. When it came it was undrinkable ...I had to send it back. I ordered something more traditional. When the check came the management refused to take the price of the first drink off of the bill. I had to pay for 2 drinks when I only had one! The night was horrible. I beg you not to waste your time or money at this venue! Pros: It was so empty that there was no problem getting a seat. Cons: Everything was bad...everything more

Horrible Restaurant 12/12/2007

This etablishment is no what it used to be. I took my girlfriend out for a nice dinner since it was our one year together. I got the Filet medium rare and it came out med well and it had no flavor. my girlfriends dish came out to her likeing but it also tasted like rubber and it was tough. Best food in the south side 12/2/2007

It's been years since I've been at Bogart's. My mother insited on taking me there for my birthday last Sunday afternoon. I was reluctant to go to just another steakhouse on the south side since I've been spoiled with fine foods in the city for the past 8 year. But I went nevertheless. My mood sparked up as soon as I walked into the dining room, beautifully decorated for Christmas. The atmosphere was relaxing and our server delightfull. I ordered a ribeye steak and Mom the potroast. The presentation of the food was very pretty and we both agree that it was one of the BEST restaurant meals we've had in a long time. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the potroast was phenomenal. Turned out to be a pretty great birthday lunch afterall. more

The steaks are like rubber 11/1/2007

We ate here last week and the $28.00 steak I ordered was the worst piece of meat I've ever had. I ordered it medium too. It had no flavor and was eating a piece of rubber. There are so many other better places in the suburbs to have a good meal than this place. Avoid this restaurant. Pros: good relish tray Cons: very bad meats more

It's a shame! 10/5/2007

It really is a shame that a once Tinley Park landmark restaurant has gone so far down hill! We have not been to Bogart's in a few months and we were very surprised on our visit a few weeks ago. When we walked in we noticed an unpleasant smell like mold or sewer and it seemed in general very dingy. The food was mediocre at best. I can get a steak that's just as good or better at just about any other restaurant in Tinley and for cheaper. The service was slow and not very friendly. I read the review about a costumers encounter with that Kathy lady and the management had changed (that may explain things). We did not have an encounter with her but, some other customers did. We couldn't hear all the details but, it seemed like quite an argument about their food. After the encounter she proceeded to storm around the restaurant giving bad looks and snapping at people. It seems to me having an attitude like that in the service industry will put you out of business in no time. In general just an unpleasant experience. Even if they were the only game in town we would not go there again. It really is a shame but, I don't see them lasting much longer. I remember when you had to wait 2+ hours to get a seat on a week night! We went on a Friday night and there were only a couple tables filled in the dining room and bar area. I guess Bogart's hay days are over. Oh well I guess things have to change sooner or later. Good luck!!!!!!! more

Poor Customer Service 9/14/2007

We will never go to the restaurant ever again. The six of us went to Bogarts for lunch on Saturday. We ordered quite a lot of food. Most of it was mediocre. My mom and I had the ribs. The waiter told us they would fall off the bones. Instead, they were a little tough. Bennigan's makes better ribs. In addition, my niece ordered the porkchop. She took one bite, said it was tough, not seasoned well, and had no flavor. She did not like it and told the waiter so. He took it away. She had to get back to a meeting so she left before the waiter returned with the check about 25 minutes later. When we got the bill, we saw the pork chop was still listed. We summoned the waiter over and told him the problem. He said he thought "she (?) had taken care of it." We didn't know who "she" was. About 5 minutes, "she" came over to our table. She turned out to be Kathy, the owner. She was looking for the person who had sent back the pork chop. We told her my niece had to leave early. We added that my niece had not liked the pork chop, that she thought it was tough, not seasoned well, and had no flavor. Kathy went on to say that "they" had tasted the pork chop and "they" thought it was fine. She also added that "they" had been able to cut it with a butter knife. She also said that just because someone didn't like their meal was not a good enough reason not to pay for it. We countered by saying again that my niece thought the pork chop was tough and did not taste good. Kathy again said that "they" thought it tasted fine. She finally relented a bit and told us she would charge us 1/2 price for the pork chop. We spent almost $200 at this place. To have someone tell us, the customers, that our thoughts about the taste and quality of the food didn't matter was insulting. Thank you, Kathy, for taking $10 off the bill and thank you for saving us, our friends, our familiies, and anyone else who will listen from ever spending another dime in your mediocre restaurant. Pros: None worth mentioning Cons: Bad attitude of the owner more

Best steaks 7/6/2007

Love the steaks. Abundant servings, you always have plenty to bring home for leftovers. Love the relish trays, nice touch. Great service all the time. Love when they have their rollback prices on dinners. Ambience is great....casablanca! more

Avoid at all costs 6/26/2007

New management once again, outrageous prices for quallity of food. Service is horrible. Drinks are priced for downtown dinning which this is far from. $11.00 for a tasteless burger, are you kidding?? more

Worst Steak I Ever Had! Rude management. I've had better steaks at Denny's! 10/10/2006

Here is my story. Me and a group of friends went down here one night. We were told that these steaks were excellent. Me and another friend ordered the New York Strip steak. The others had steak as well. Now we had a group of 6 people. Of the 6, 4 did not finish their steaks (including me). Not because they were full, but because they disliked them. When we were finished eating, the waitress asked us how our meal was. I spoke up and said that I was dissappointed. I informed her that it wasn't her fault, and that I had just expected better. I also assured her that I fully intend to pay, but that I was dissappointed. I never once asked to see the manager. Well about a minute later the manager comes to the table. She points to me and asks if I was the one with the bad steak. I said yes. She says, "ok, we don't guarantee any of our steaks that are cooked medium well". I said that is fine. I also let her know that I thought the steak was dry, charred and had no flavor. She got smart and said "well, this is a Charred steakhouse". Well, I didn't know charred meant pitch black and rock hard. And 4 others were dissappointed also. My friend's fiance was about to speak up also but he held her back. I also let her know that I fully intended to pay but that I will not eat here again. With a rude attitude she snarls, "well I'm sorry" and then turned quickly and walked away. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will never set foot with anyone else in that restaurant. She was very rude and the steak was horrid. I've had better steaks at Denny's. Scott more
