August 2010 Bodean visit and review 8/28/2010

OK, folks. The truth. I've seen elsewhere someone commenting on the customer demographic, the food, and the service; old, great, not so good. I agree with this assessment. This part of Tulsa is kinda run down and young folks don't really hang here. So what? Nothing. Just agreeing that a lot of old folks like this restaurant. The service? Couldn't ask for any better. Our waiter was excellent as was the general help that kept the waters topped up and the bread basket full. How about the food? Ugh. Awful. Crab cakes and shrimp starter; cakes tasted super fishy and the shrimp tasted like mud. Spinach salad with blue cheese dressing which was flavorless. Halibut main dish where the fish was obviously frozen as it tasted like the back of a freezer. The bottled Guinness was a delight. The price? $50/plate. Going again. Uh, nope. Sorry, Bodean's. I wanted to believe but the food is just terrible. more

Watch out! 3/7/2010

I went with my wife based on a couple of recommendations. The filthy decorative fish tank near the entrance was a bad sign. Our waiter was trying to be sophisticated, and clearly did not know what he was doing. We send back both of our entres. My wifes scallops had a lot of sand, and my sea bass was not anything like Chilean. It was listed as bluenose, but the waiter should have advised that it was more like halibut than the buttery/oily fish that I was looking for. Disappointing!! Pros: Fresh Seafood Cons: Terrible staff/management, Poor Chef!! more

Lovely New Venue! 2/28/2008

We went this week to Bodean's to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The staff was so kind and very professional. Our food was delicious and prepared perfectly. It really was the perfect way to celebrate our very important event. They even gave us each a desert of our choice to help celebrate our day. I cannot say enough praise for this beautiful new place. I admit the old location was cramped and stuffy, but they have really done it up right and everything was supurb! Don't miss a beautiful place for a special occasion or any occasion really! Thanks! more

Amazing seafood 2/15/2008

Bodeans is a wonderful, relaxing place to dine. Their crab legs are more than huge. When my husand and I ordered a pound and a half, three legs came out of the plate. That was how large the legs were. The service is wonderful and be sure to try both their crab cakes and seafood bisque. To die for. Pros: Absolutely delicious Cons: Pricy more

Seafood in Tulsa 7/7/2007

Terrible service, average food. Their menu advertised prosciutto wrapped shrimp stuffed with goat cheese. They used bacon instead of prosciutto and it had no goat cheese in it. I asked my server where the prosciutto was and she quickly corrected me that the bacon would do. Not the type of response that you would expect from a quailty resturant. The ceasar salad was subpar as it was overly fishy. The clam cowder was watery and the halibut was average at best. It was moist, but lacked any type of flavor. For a place that is supposed to specialize in seafood, it was very disappointing. Pros: None Cons: Poor service, average food more

Fresh selections,fantastic service 2/4/2007

Are you kidding me mdparrish21!?! Bodeans is by far one of the best seafood restaurants in town!! they offer fresh, flown-in once to twice a day seafoods and many other delicacies. The Wine list is equisite and very extensive. I in fact took a wine class in college by a wine coinnosieur from bodeans. He was not only knowledgable, but quite precise. it is a wonderful and romantic place to dine and right next door is a fresh deli offering fish from all regions of the world so you can take home and prepare yourself! Anyone who doese not like this local restaurant, which has been in business for over a decade and owns several other favorite eateries, is better off sticking to taco bell, red lobster, and whatever low class joints you are Obviously use to! Pros: Knowledgable staff and wine buffs, fresh seafood, organic ingrdients Cons: small dining capacity more

Very average... 5/30/2005

I have not found a good seafood restaurant since I have been in Tulsa. This one was average at best. Not much room for seating and the atmosphere was horrible as I was forced to breathe all the smoke. Don't waste your time. more
