Best

This place is not a cafeteria, don't let the name fool you. Great spot for brunch, but it does get crowded. They will do call ahead seating. Pros: FOOD is Great! Service is...

Worst

I went in on a weekday afternoon at around 1 pm to check out this new cafeteria in my neighborhood. Presumably, they would be expecting people at this time of day.

Great atmosphere & food 11/13/2006

I had heard about this place, driven by many times, but had never been in. Decided to go last Thursday and it was excellent! The restaurant looks great inside, very hip. Food is priced moderately. For vegetarians, I recommend the grilled vegetable bowl, VERY good! Pros: Great food & atmosphere Cons: Some items were a bit pricey more

I'll go back 11/12/2006

Wait staff was attentive. Food was good, and there're a range of options to choose from. Hard a hard time choosing actually, and ended up ordering the Reuben, which didn't have your standard ""death by pastrami"" quantity of meat, but was good and filling none the less. pricing is a little high for the neighborhood, but I think a good value overall. Pros: nicer alternative for neighborhood dining more

Incredibly noisy, even at 50% capacity 10/31/2006

Menu is limited, but has several classic diner dishes. Cloth napkins and decent flatware. Service was attentive. The major drawback was the noise level, just from ordinary conversations. I really couldn't hear my companion speaking. Good place if you're alone and can immerse yourself in a book. more

Unfortunate treatment 10/15/2006

To be perfectly honest, my companion and I did not eat at this restaurant. This is because we were treated so shoddily by the waitstaff that we had little choice but to leave in order to retain a modicum of dignity. Cons: Some of the worst, most insulting service I have ever experienced in my dining-out life. more

The Worst Dining Experience We Have Ever Had 9/16/2006

This restaurant is a huge disappointment in the Rosedale area. With the renaissance of this downtown area, The Blue Star Cafeteria is not a desirable addition. Most important is the shabby treatment of patrons by the staff and the blatant disregard for a young person with disabilities who was refused access to the restroom after asking for assistance due to a locked door. The person was rebuffed three times and then completely ignored. A person claiming to be the manager refused to help and smirked at the people in need. When asked to dialogue about these concerns, the patrons were chided, dismissed and then heckled by the staff. This took place in the presence of the young people being treated in such a cavalier manner, along with other patrons observing in disbelief the inappropriate series of events. I believe the staff may wish to educate themselves regarding the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition to this the food (hamburgers) were served raw, service was terrible - a drink was spilled and was wiped up with a filthy towel - and then the ticket was in gross error. Overall, we do not recommend this establishment to anyone and it is not an asset to any neighborhood. Cons: Everything more

Not Kid Friendly At All! 8/25/2006

I noticed that ""Kid Friendly"" was listed under ""Special Features."" Read the ""Blue Star"" posts on Craigslist in the ""local news and views"" section, to find out just how untrue the ""Kid Friendly"" claim is. If you have kids, if you want kids, if you know kids you like, send a message and DON'T go to the Blue Star Cafeteria. more
