After seeing an ad the Vet had for kittens, we purchased two kittens from their office for our children's Christmas gift. Immediately upon bringing them home, they had horrible bowel problems and watery stool. Since the office made us sign a contract, only guaranteeing their health for three days, we rushed them back to find that they had Coccidia (a bacterial infection), Dr. VanderPool gave us medication and said it should get better in a few days. Which worked out well, because included in our initial cost was a kitten ""well-check and next vaccines"". So we combined a follow up with the well-check. The kittens seemed a little better, so the Dr. said just continue the medication. The kittens had severe flee infestation, so the Dr gave them flee medication. After 21 days on the Coccidia medication, these kittens still had severe bowel trouble. We had to quarantine them in our house, because of the mess they made. These were sold to us as ""healthy"" kittens! We decided to get a second opinion. After paying nearly $150. the other Vet stated they have never seen such poor condition of kittens. They stated that kittens that you get from the Human Society are in better condition then these, in which we paid for! The kittens were full of tape worms and had severe ear mites. Thankfully, the new vet felt bad for us and discounted the service. The next day I phoned Blue Cross to request a refund for these kittens that were sold to us as ""healthy"" and instead have been anything but! Our kids love the kittens, but with all that we had to do to get these kittens healthy we wanted a refund for what we paid. The office said ""no"". Only if we return the kittens... who of course are now healthy. They never performed the so-called ""well-ness"" check or they would've found the tape worms and ear mites. We thought purchasing from a Vet would surely be a safe place to acquire a kitten, boy were we wrong. They could never tell us where these kittens came from and we never got to see their cage. My guess, based on the health of the kittens, is that it was very unclean. Please do yourself a favor and don't chance purchasing a kitten from this office. Save yourself the pain in your heart.
