Best

My favorite is the large serving size of excellent tempura. Then I have to decide -- tasty beef slices, sashimi, salmon teriyaki, ginger pork or the tonkatsu for my second choice....

Worst

After months of waiting for Blowfish in Santana Row to open, I finally went there yesterday for dinner. Service was great and that's all that's great about Blowfish. The sushi was...

Good but too busy 5/1/2012

Long wait, sushi was okay. Me and my friends left hungry and went to in and out burger an hour later. The place is too crowded and quality of service wasn't par. It's good to take out of town guests here if they want something different from traditional good sushi restaurants. more

WILL NOT RECOMMEND 4/4/2011

This is the very first time in my life that I walked out at a restaurant. This just happened last Saturday night 4/2/11. My family came in the restaurant and we were seated at once. We looked at the menu, and we're given 4 glasses of water. Ten munutes has passed and no one has asked if we're ready to order. Gave them another 5 minutes, nothing. Then two people just came in and was seated next to us. And guess what, a waitress came and was taking their order. That's the time I told my family to stand up and we just walked out and no one even said anything to us. We ended up eating at SINO and we had a great time. more

Fab Sushi 7/18/2010

Blowfish has outstanding sushi that is consistently fresh, an innovative and creative menu, fab-u-lous cocktails and a cozy yet modern environment. The staff is chic yet helpful and will often give great advice on your next item based on what you have ordered and what you envision. The potstickers are the bomb if you don't like raw fish and their martinis are always delish! Pros: fresh sushi, great rolls, nice atmosphere Cons: parking/access more

Pretty loud in there 3/25/2010

They used to have a really good teriyaki chicken that I loved since I don't eat sushi, but my friends love it. But it isn't as good anymore.\r The environment is really loud, so be prepared to yell while eating.\r Friends say the sushi is great though. more

GREAT FOOD 2/27/2010

Great food and good service, thanks Pros: Great location Cons: Parking more

Love their bento for lunch 11/20/2009

My favorite is the large serving size of excellent tempura. Then I have to decide -- tasty beef slices, sashimi, salmon teriyaki, ginger pork or the tonkatsu for my second choice. Whatever I select, I know I'll be very happy eating it. The salad is the best looking one I've seen in the Bay Area and both salad dressings are outstanding. The rice is always flawless and they serve two kinds of pickled veggies in the center. I love bringing friends here. Pros: Best looking bento In the South Bay Cons: Two choices; no option for three choices more

HORRIBLE PLACE 9/11/2009

BEWARE OF SANTANA ROW First - don't purchase SANTANA ROW gift cards. They charge extraordinary fees - $2.50 a month.....a $100 gift card can quickly become worthless if you don't use it. I thought this was illegal in California but apparently, there are loop holes like charging a monthly finance fee. I tried several times to get to Santana Row to use my new gift card but could NEVER FIND PARKING...sure, there's parking in the morning during the week but I work so I usually had to go in the evenings or during the weekend....no parking...finally gave up and left. SO BE WARNED! Pros: H&M Cons: Customer Service and Parking more

too trendy for me, and the food doesn't justify the price 3/28/2009

I love sushi. I used to work in a Japanese restaurant. So, I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to good sushi. This place just gets customers based on it's location and the novelty of DJ music and trendy atmosphere. \r \r The sushi I got was nothing special. I feel the quality wasn't any better than some of the other sushi places in the same area. But of course they have to charge a higher price to pay the high rent. more

Blowfish sushi disaster...don't go 12/22/2008

Ok, so you go there and the atmosphere is fine..service is lousy and the best part, the fish is over priced and very small portions. Go here if your just going to drink perhaps, but for a good sushi dinner, try Yuki instead and very close by...I would not go back to this place... more

A bit expensive but good selection 12/10/2008

Interesting sushi choices and the decor is pretty cool, but the prices are on the high side for what they offer. more

Great Drinks, Fresh Sushi , Good Music, Good Vibe 12/9/2008

Fun sushi spot on the ROW! Fresh fish, great DJ, awesome vibe, and good drinks. Best of all its on the ROW. You can stop in for a late lunch or dinner and continue on shopping. Great service and presentation is great! I highly recommend the "" Dynamite Roll"" !! Pros: Service, Ambience Cons: Parking , especially during the holidays more

Not a great place to have fun! 11/5/2008

Bar none the worst restaurant/night club I've been to. The atmosphere is dark, boring, and pretentious. In regards to cougars: u go table dancing cougar.....whether they love you or hate you, you're still gonna shine baby!!! Pros: Can't think of any except good location. Cons: Bad vibe place more

Nothing good to say about this place. 10/28/2008

Nothing good to say about this place.....too expensive, trendy, and terrible customer service. Would not recommend. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Cougars dont dance on the table here!!! 10/28/2008

I was there the night of blowfishblowme's alleged near death drama. I thought the resturaunt handled themselves rather professionally considering they had a wild cougar dancing on the table and acting crazy when they asked her to get down. Get off the juice! Blowfish is a great place to have fun. Pros: Great food, music and normally people Cons: Occasionally they throw out a drunk more

Fun Crowd! 8/13/2008

The sushi here is good..maybe not the absolute best but definately good. The crowd is always fun here. A little more on the yuppy side but willing to relax! I am always pleased with the food and the atmosphere. more

Excellent sashimi 6/16/2008

This place was great for California rolls, fish, and tempura lovers. I was so bummed that such a perfect restarant existed because I can't compare it to anything in Southern California as far as I have found. \r \r I'd heard, over and over again, from some friends, that I'd have to visit blowfish when I went to that area and decided to make a go of it last weekend. The food was rather good, the type of thing one would expect from a high end establishment (so I thought it odd that the servers were dressed down), that part I wasn't terribly impressed.\r \r I did try the three rolls, however, and can understand why people flock to this place. I will absolutely return for another helping of tempura (especially the shrimp, which I only had a bite of).\r more

Overrated 6/4/2008

I'd heard a lot of great things about Blowfish Sushi, but was more than disappointed when I finally got around to going. The drinks are good but slightly overpriced, and the sushi is nothing to write home about. The decor is pretty, but the inside is small and gets crowded pretty quickly. They should also have more waiters because the service was a little slow. And don't go here if you're expecting to make conversation. The music is always really loud. Maybe entertaining for the younger crowd, but don't go here if you're expecting great sushi or a comfortable atmosphere. more

Loud 6/3/2008

It is a good party atmosphere but not really that fun if you are under 21. The sushi is expensive but really well plated and worth the money. The appetizers were good too. more

Great Sake! 5/8/2008

The sake is really good. We went on the weekend and it was late so it was a bit too loud and very crowded. But they had good appetizers and the sushi is very well presented.\r Would recommend to a younger crowd though, screaming above the music is a tad bit annoying after a while. more
