Bloom Brothers

I bought what I thought was a nice recliner from Bloom Brothers for $400 on sale. I have only had the chair a year and a half and it has broken pieces of wood and it sinks almost to the floor. It doesn't recline anymore and since it is so low to the floor now it doesn't rock either!!! About 6 months ago my daughter and I were in Big Lots furniture and saw the exact same chair, made by the same manufacturer for $179!!!!! I was floored, I could have gotten this cheap chair for half the price. I will never go to Bloom Brothers again! more

After looking at several stores on the Blvd we found the set we were looking for at BB. My wife also found an ottoman to go with the sofa through the mfg website; we asked if the could be included in the purchase. Pros: Great locations. Never crowded! Cons: Horrible service. Would not return phone calls. more

Unfortunately, We bought a full living room and dining room there last year, like everyone else trying to save some money, but we did still spend a good bit. Well anyway, the Sofa and the loveseat both seemed like they cave in within 6 months. I mean you sit on them, you hear wood cracking then you feel like you're sitting on the floor. Well the customer service people in the store and at their main office were are no help. They told us because we did not purchase the extended warranty that there was nothing they can do. I did not even ask for a refund, or swsap just help or even a 50% credit towards something else, just to take it off of our hands. NO...Now, maybe I'm slow, but the only warranty they offered me was the stainmaster warranty. To me that means upholstery warranty against stains and tears. NO, the stain warranty also covers workmanship and breaks in the frame and padding. This was not explained, or I obviously would have got it. So long story short we are stuck with slide out of your seat, onto the floor junk. With no help in sight. We decided that we are going to buy a new sofa and loveseat from somewhere else and take this stuff and put it on there front door with a note. more

I purchased furniture in November 06 but have not received the remaining pieces and it's now been over 3 months. I've spoken numerous times to the Store Manager and I've been promised the furniture would be in the next month. I believe this is just a guess. There doesn't seem to be a good explanation why the furniture is out of stock. We've requested to return the funiture that we had received and puchase something in return of equal value but have not been successful. We are still waiting for the furniture from our original order. I would highly suggest you purchased furniture elsewhere. Pros: Store is not crowded but now I understand why! Cons: Furniture is not in stock and a reasonable ETA has not been determined. more

Don't expect to ever see your furniture! My wife and I just built a new house and was trying to furnish it. The furniture we purchased at BB was nice quality stuff for the most part. I can't judge all of it because it has been FOUR MONTHS and we still don't have all of it. Now when I go to the store (because they won't return my phone calls) they tell me MAYBE March. I can't get a refund, they tried to give me a damaged floor model, and I have no recourse but to wait. Never shop there! And if you do don't pay cash and don't pay in full until your merchandise arrives undamagfed. I won't even go into how many pieces were damaged, albeit minor (mostly, only one piece was replaced) with scratches and nicks. Bottm line: GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! Pros: Can't think of one Cons: You never get your merchandise. more

We were shopping for a new dining set and had been everywhere, I was tossed up between 2 tables 1 at Bloom Brothers 1 at the room store. I decided to go with the set I liked at blooms brothers to save a feww hundred $$s, BIGGGG MISTAKE!!! I love the table , don't get me wrong, its just that after we said we wanted the table and paid for it I think they should have given me a realistic time frame as to when it would be in, not "" the table will be in Richmond by friday hopefully, but we're not to sure when the chairs will arrive"" ,I DON'T LIVE IN RICHMOND, I want to know when it will be in virginia beach!!! And all of it not just the table. Pros: very helpful upfront, don't fall for it once they get your $$$$ you won't see any more assistance Cons: prices don't matter any if your product is broken and you can't get anybody to exchange or refund or anything it!!! more

I recently went to Bloom Brothers and picked out the bedroom set that I wanted. Before I could even get in to the area with bedroom sets I was being hounded by several sales people. I finally picked out the set that I wanted, my only problem was that I didn't think that my room was big enough to purchase the night stand with the set. The sales person went on to tell me that any other type of night stand wouldn't look right because this was a very large bedroom set. In her opinion my only option was to purchase the nightstand.I found her comments to be rude, to say the least. You would think that she would be happy to make the sale of the bedroom set. We also asked about free delivery and were told that your purchase had to be at least $5,000 to qualify. After adding up the total cost of the bedroom set we found that we were $75 short. We were told that we would have to pay for delivery and the rails that go with the headboard. This sales woman was so terrible that we wrote down the name of the bedroom set we wanted and who it was made by. We then went on the internet and found another store that carried the Kinkaid set we wanted. I found the staff here to be very pushy and very rude! We ended up purchasing the set we wanted from Esprit Decor in Chesapeake. All I can say is the staff there was great! We were treated well without being stalked. When I said I couldnt fit the night stand that came with the set the sales woman there said no problem we have plenty of pieces that will be just fine. We ended up spending less money at this store for the exact same set and we were treated so good that we will go back when we are ready to get our new living room set. Pros: They had an average selection of furniture. Cons: The sales staff was terrible. more

I was thrilled with the customer service when I was at the store actually purchasing the furniture. However, when the furniture wouldn't fit up our narrow stairs and part of it had to be returned, the refund process was hellish. It has been more than a month since I have returned my furniture and still Bloom Brothers is withholding my $1,000.00 refund. They have acknowledged since the beginning that my refund is legitimate, so that is not the issue. To be frank, I am not quite sure what has been the issue, since each time I am met with the answer ""We'll take care of that right away."" It has not been taken care of. more

My wife and I had been shopping for our first new set of bedroom furniture for six weeks at every known furniture dealer in Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. We had ""tough"" negotiations at a competitor store that resulted in a fair deal, but an unpleasant experience. I was preparing to make a U-Turn on Virginia Beach Blvd to get to the RoomStore, when I saw Bloor Brothers on the corner. When I went in, Bloom Brothers had the exact bedroom set we were looking floor at a price lower than the one we negotiated elsewhere. The salesperson gave us free delivery without even asking and their finance department was exceptionally professional and courteous. All in all a great experience for customer service and price. Pros: Customer Service, Finance Department, Good Value Cons: No Negotiating more

Five weeks after ordering and paying for a rocker/recliner that was needed for my husband's post-operative ankle surgery, I called to check the delivery status. I was told that Lane no longer made his particular chair. No one bothered to call and tell me this. I was told initially that I could buy the chair that was on display because it was the only one in stock. I asked the salesman could I now buy that chair since Lane no longer makes this style and he said it had been sold. Go figure. Please do your research before shopping at this store. The commercials should have been a hint. more

I was elated to be given more choice when it comes to furniture shopping in HR, however I was sorely disappointed with my experience with Bloom Brothers. Please, please, please DO NOT bother yourself with this merchant. Customer service is worse than commercials. Cons: customer service, mngmnt is cowardly, no return phone calls more

We purchased a sofa, oversized chair and ottoman. When it was delivered all four wooden legs on the sofa were broken. It took weeks to get them replaced and a lot of phone calls. NOW 7 months later the ottoman is broken (we are a childless couple so there is no excessive wear and tear on the furniture ) and again we are getting the run around. We are told someone will call us the next day, days go by no phone call. I will never buy from them again. Cons: poor quaility, poor service more

The sales staff is friendly, courteous and not at all pushy. I highly recommend this store for newcomers to the Norfolk area Pros: Friendly sales staff, reasonable prices more
