Save yourself......don't go here!!!!!!! Horrible service!!!!! The owner of Blazer Automotive., Larry Blazer hung up on me without trying to fix my issue after complaining. It started with me buying a beautiful 06 Passat. A few months into ownership I had an unbelievable noise (rattling) in my front wheel area. I'm a girl and don't know much about cars. I have issues with Blazer Automotive and this is why......I took my car in with a specific request. Figure out what the rattle is. Simple enough. I wish I could show my receipt here. In BOLD LETTERS it states. ""BRAKES CHECK OK"" I actually thought it was a busted shock. I wasn't sure. IF it was the shock I would fix it when I could, not that big of a deal. This was in March mind you. I was worried my wheel would come off on the highway or something. I had no idea, I just know it's not a normal sound. Here it is 9-18-2012 and I finally figured it out. My brakes needed to be replaced and I found a place to do it. I was standing right there watching after the tire was taken off. I wanted to see in there too. The man who replaced the front brakes found the issue in 2 seconds. He actually touched the part that holds in the brakes (I think it's the calipers) They about fell off in his hands as I was watching.TWO bolts about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long was NOT EVEN screwed in. The mechanic pulled them straight out....Both of them!!!!! Not even slightly bolted in tight. Not broken either. He used the same ones again. It could have killed me or made me wreck, had it fallen apart. There is 100% no way Blazer even touched that area!!! NO WAY!!! Larry said only this, ""Sorry we missed it"". Sorry you missed it? He kept telling me they didn't charge me for the the diagnosis. What diagnosis????? Huh? As I'm looking at my receipt I see the $$$(96.00+dollars) they charged me for an oil change. He actually charged me 96.00 for an oil change on an 06 Passat. 96.00 dollars seriously???? When I asked him ""so that's it, sorry you missed it""? He asked well what would you want me to do? I asked for 50.00 bucks back which I thought was LESS than fair. That's when he hung up on me. PLEASE don't go to this place. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!! Way to run a business Larry. I'm a business owner and I would never ever do that to one of my clients. Ever. I do what ever it takes to make my clients happy, no matter what I think about the issue. Even if I thought a did they best job (in my mind) He told me ""You're out of your shitin mind"" and then hung up on me. NIce! Save yourself money and agony DON""T GO TO BLAZER AUTOMOTIVE IN ENGLEWOOD COLORADO I wast to picket this place. more

I came in a few days before labor day and they were swamped. I needed work done on my '64 Beetle. When I dropped it off Larry wasn't sure he could get to it that day, which I was fine with. He called me right after I got back home and said they would have it finished in a few hours. Great service and a reasonable fee on top. more

took in an 1982 Vanagon to have an 1.9 3/19/2012

took in an 1982 Vanagon to have an 1.9 L AAZ engine installed. The engine was a used engine. They installed it and it overheated as soon as I got it home. I had to tow it back and they replaced hoses that should have been originally replaced and then rebuilt a radiator because that was supposedly the cause of my overheating. I broke down the same day on the highway late at night because they left a crumbling coolant hose conncected that blew again. It ran for two weeks and then I noticed that it had a head gasket leak, which may have been a problem with the original used engine I bought. However, it was not until later that I learned that they had thought the engine they installed was an earlier 1.6 L engine and not the 1.9. They were supposed to put the 1.9L pump from the AAZ engine and just attach the pickup tube. They couldn't get this to work correctly so they just used the1.6 Liter pump from the original engine. After I got the engine back from a different mechanic who did the repairs on the head gasket the engine seized. I had an independent mechanic determine that it was not caused by improper timing belt or head gasket repair and was a lower block seizing up. One possible cause for the lower block seizing as it did was putting a 1.6 L pump on a 1.9L engine. They never informed me that they had done this and they didn't take any responsibility for the problem because they believed that the cause could have been the engine to begin with. Even if I had bought a brand new engine, the careless decisions they made would have potentially ruined a brand new engine. I do not recommend this shop. Larry is a very nice guy, but I can't say I am impressed with their costly mistakes in my case. more

Old Mechanics / Not enough Knowledge 11/24/2008

I took my Jetta in to Blazer on a referral from a friend. From the moment I walked in I knew this place was going to be trouble, but I needed the work done and did not know of any other VW mechanics in Denver. First, the shop is a complete mess and is dirty. Second my car set at this shop for 5 days as these ""mechanics"" could not figure out the problem. Third, I had to take may car back three times as the problem was never fixed. I took my car to another VW shop I found online and the problem was fixed in two hours. I spent $800 + at Blazer only to spend $165.00 more to have the problem solved. more

If you have a VW, this is the only place you need to know. 5/6/2008

I've had 4 VWs in my 45 years in the various states I've lived. I worked at a VW shop as a teenager. Blazer is what a VW shop is supposed to be. If you own or have read ""How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive : A Manual of Step-By-Step Procedures for the Complete Idiot"", you will feel as if you've walked into the pages of it when you walk into this shop off of Broadway. (And, if you own a VW, you should own that book). In this day and age of ""McAuto"" shops, it is refreshing to trust my Vdub to Blazer. Pros: Expertise, honesty, and they CARE about your VW Cons: Not a thing more

An honest and knowledeable mechanic 2/23/2008

I have taken my Jetta in a few times now and each time my experience has been great. My last trip to Blazer was because I thought my clutch broke and needed to be replaced. I was all set to shell out quite a bit. Being the honest mechanic that he is (I think his name is Larry), he notified me that it was just a cable and would cost pretty much next to nothing.\r Furthermore, when I needed body work, he gave me an excellent referral: Bill at 720-394-6163, who too, was very thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, and reasonably priced.\r I feel lucky to have found these two shops to service my Jetta! more

Vanagon and older VW specialists -- they know these cars and don't yank your chain 1/7/2008

Ever since I purchased my used '91 Vanagon six years ago, I've brought it to Larry and his crew at Blazer Automotive. While it has been a reasonably reliable van (cross my fingers, knock on wood), whenever something is even slightly amiss, I call these guys. They know these vans SO well that I can usually explain the symptoms over the phone and get an idea of what could be happening. On a few occasions, they were able to tell me what the problem was definitively and give me a price for repair. They have always been accurate with the repair estimate and honest about things that MIGHT pop up in their diagnosis. I recently replaced my clutch on the Van (not bad after 240K miles) and priced it at other shops. They were not the lowest (by about $100), but I took it there anyway because the Vanagon is an odd bird and they know exactly what to do. As the other reviewer noted, the facility is far from white-glove clean. In fact, the waiting room is filled with dirty old car seats, disorganized papers, and van/vw ""art"" -- I recommend dropping of the vehicle and coming back later. Bottom line, they know what they are doing and don't overcharge their customers. Pros: Heavily experienced in VW Vanagons -- know what they are talking about/doing! Cons: Dirty waiting room and facility overall more

Knowlegable mechanics you can trust? 4/24/2007

I do not have alot of experience with repair/ service shops in the US (and the experinces I have had are grim - cocky, arrogant staff who make you feel like you are being ripped off).. The guys at Blazer don't try to charm you but they certainly are knowlegable about all thing VW/ Audi.. I shopped around to see how much my timing belt replacement on my 99 Passat would cost (a big job) and their quote was about $750, the cheapest in a range that topped out at $1100! The quote also matched the final price. They gave me a list of things that could be done and recommended which ones were necessary and which were not (the most expensive one was actually not necessary.) However, if you want a nice clean waiting room and are prepared to pay for it, then you should go elsewhere! This place is old skool and knows it!! Enjoy. Pros: Knowlegable, honest, Cons: no waiting area (for those who want it!) more
