Do Blue Line Bike Lab or anyone else 10/26/2011

I was in the market for a $1,500 Trek & found BB in Rice Village the closest dealer. I called to ask about color availability, & though I don't specifically recall the conversation I was so offended by the rudeness that I took my business all the way out to BB near Dairy Ashford (& I live about a mile west of downtown!!). Out there they apparently don't consider themselves pre-madonnas of either biking or the area they do business in. This ""ain't New York City & I don't appreciate establishments that are determined to provide customers with that type of experience. I've heard this same type of feedback from many who've stepped foot in the RV BB. I take my business to Blue Line Bike Lab now, they are good folk up there, not to mention closer to my house (thank God). more

Don't buy a bike here 2/6/2011

Once they realized I wasn't buying the most expensive bike in the shop, they lost interest. I went back once because of severe neck and back pain-I was told I would just have to get used to it. Surprisingly, it went away when a friend noticed that my seat was too high. more

I found the staff to be friendly, easy going and knowledgeable. I was professionally fitted on my bike and have been comfortable ever since. I did not have a lot of time and went there the other day to pick up brake pads. The pads were in stock and the service was quick with a smile. I asked what I could do to upgrade my bike and they suggested the tires. I put on some lighter tires and have increase my speed 1-2 mph. They have a great Fun ride on Sunday mornings. We meet at the store at 7:30 am . John one of the Managers is usually there and is super friendly. He is committed to everyone having fun and being safe. You can ask him any questions regarding your bike. Pros: Quck service with a smile, names brands, knowledgeable staff Cons: Construction on Kirby more

Red Carpet Service 8/3/2009

Went there with my girlfriend Sunday, 30 mins before closing. They must have been reading these reviews, because they rolled out the red carpet and then some for us. When the original sales guy got swamped, he passed the baton to another sales rep (Melissa), she didn't miss a beat. Very responsive to my GF's questions and concerns, Melissa let her test ride several bikes, stayed late to close the sale, even stayed 30 mins late, helping her fit and select a helmet (w/o rushing us out the door). Just when I thought service was a dying art.... Pros: good selection; courteous and knowledgable sales staff Cons: can't think of any more

Horrible customer service 7/20/2009

My husband and I stopped in to the Bike Barn off Kirby in Rice Village. We were greeted promptly when entering the store and directed to the rear of the store since we were searching for a new chain and cassette to replace on my bike. After standing at the counter for several minutes while one employee was browsing the lunch menu and the other looked over at us but ignored us, we began getting irriatated. After a few minutes, two guys walked in with a bike and immediately the guy behind the counter acknowledged them. We couldn't decide if it was that he was too lazy to help us, he didn't like our look or that we were hispanic. The two guys who walked in and immediately got help were white... I have never experienced anything like that in my life and I've been hispanic my whole life. I will tell everyone to give some of these smaller bike shops the opportunity to earn your business, apparently Bike Barn doesn't need it since several of the these reviews complain about the poor customer service. Try DANIEL BOONE bike shop, they earned my business! Cons: Ignorance is bliss more

Best Bike Shop Experience Ever!!! 7/16/2008

I've been to alot of bike shops in Texas, but I have never had such a good experience as I had when I went to buy a new Trek at the Bike Barn on Kirby. The staff was informed and very friendly and the prices were the best that I had found. Spending as much as I did, I had alot of questions and the staff was eager to answer each one. The guy who did my fitting took the time to make sure that I was really comfortable and happy with everything he did. I would definitely recommend Bike Barn to anyone who need to buy a bike or get some accesories!!! Pros: Knowledgeable Staff Cons: Limited space to test more

Shockingly bad experience 4/26/2008

I haven't ridden a bicycle in decades, but my boss, who's a bicycle racer and enthusiast, recommended the Trek Lime. I found the nearest dealer, the Bike Barn in the Village on Kirby, on the Trek website.\r \r Wow. It's like they've never heard of customer service there. I wandered around for a few minutes before someone asked me if I needed help, and luckily, I found one of two employees there who are actually interested in helping customers. Alessandro seemed to be new to the store, but was very interested in helping me find the bike I wanted and answer all of my questions. He and Nathan are the only reason I gave this store two stars instead of one.\r \r During my first visit to the store to test ride the Lime, the other employees either ignored me or regarded me with barely disguised disdain. If you haven't heard of the Lime, it's the automatically shifting three-speed that Trek developed specifically for people like me -- haven't been on a bike in decades and am looking for something fun and easy for pleasure, short commuting, and errands. Bike Barn clearly doesn't want customers like me. \r \r I asked Alessandro to special-order my Lime in the color and model I wanted, which he did happily with Nathan's help. When I went to pick up my bicycle, the other employees' disdain was justified by my non-serious bike with basket and bell. Not realizing that my bike came with a bell, I had special-ordered another one. Alessandro didn't make me buy it, but the irritation on the part of the other employees that they had an extra piece of merchandise to sell was clear. \r \r If you can find Alessandro or Nathan to help you, I think you'll be pleased, but I wonder if there are other stores in the area that actually practice Bike Barn's stated mission of sharing their love and enthusiasm for biking with customers. It's posted behind the cash register, but it's lost all meaning to them. Pros: Alessandro, Nathan, huge stock, lots of choices in both bikes and accessories Cons: staff isn't interested in helping customers more

Bikers beware 3/12/2008

After reading the previous negative review of bike barn I went against the popular, as well as my own judgement and decided to give them a try. What a mistake that was! I was recently given an old unicycle by a friend that needed a new tire and tube and a little ""elbow grease"" to clean it up but was in otherwise good condition. I've wanted to learn to ride one since I was a kid but never had the opportunity. Well now I did and boy was I excited. After a brief search on the internet and no prior knowledge to reputable bike shops I settled on Bike Barn on Kirby dr. I was actually greeted warmly and promptly directed to the repair area. The assitant there (I won't mention any names, I'm not that vindictive and don't want anyone's job to suffer) was glad to look the wheel over and recommend a new tire and tube. I agreed and he proceeded to look up the size and specifications in an order guide. Well guess what? Yep, special order. This IS the BIKE Barn right, with you know, TIRES and tubes and pedals and little tassle thingy's that hang from the handlebars? Oh well whatever, special orders do occur and I understand. I was told it would take about a week. Fair enough order away. Well after a week I called them , not the other way around and was told that the shipment was showed as received but noone knew where it was. LOST! He apologized saying that this only happens 1 out of 200 times and I WAS THE ONE! So it was reordered and I only asked for my trouble to have it cleaned and detailed upon it's return, the service man eagerly obliged. When I was called to pick it up he forgot that it was even ready and it was still dirty. He asked me to give him a few minutes for the clean-up so I told him to take 30 and would return. 30min later NOT DONE. I wanted it anyway. So when payment time came it took THREE employees to figure out the computer system. This took another 10min. Long story short got it home, CLEANED IT MYSELF, will soon learn to ride and don't go to Bike Barn! Pros: Lots of bikes, clean showroom Cons: Incompetant floor staff, poor customer service, no apparent management more

Poor Employee Quality 7/10/2005

I have been a dedicated customer of Bike Barn for seven years. I have visited the Kirby store for any bicycle maintenance, part or accessory for my family - we have five bicycles all purchased from there. Over the years I have noticed that the quality and generosity of customer service has gone downhill. When I enter the store I can stand at the service desk for 15 minutes before anyone asks me if I need help, even on slow days. The employees talk amongest themselves, eye customers and ignore most walk-ins, and I don't sense any feeling of genuine concern or business-like manners. I don't see it beneficial to remain a dedicated customer of Bike Barn and I urge others to find a more customer oriented bicycle shop. You can find a better price on all bicycle accessories because Bike Barn overmarks almost everything unless its a sale weekend. Pros: clean atmosphere, lots of accessories Cons: poor service, poor employee quality, overmarked more
