Best

I plan all of the corporate dinners and events for an international restaurant chain. So I am privy to the ins and outs of the industry and have had comprehensive experience with ...

Worst

Decided to try Belanotte before going the the Guthrie. Arrived a bit late for a 5 pm seating as we had difficulty locating the entrance! The address on the web site indicates 600 ...

Wonderful time 9/10/2006

Went there on Saturday night with a group of 9 ladies and we all had a great time. The food was delicious and the service was pretty good. I loved the lofty ceilings, dark setting, and orange lighting that was everywhere- its a very seductive place. We had reservations at 8:30 and were seated immediately. By the time we left (10:30) the bar and patio was filled up with well dressed adults. I will definitely go back! Pros: Ambiance & Food Cons: Parking (and a little $$$) more

Something for everyone... 1/26/2006

As a firstimer to Bellanotte, going on a Friday night during a Timberwolves game (quite by accident), turned the evenings already amazing Seared Rare Ahi Tuna w/ Buckwheat pasta, into an entertaining parade of thick furs, diamond earring clad-extra tall men, and well dressed women-following in tow. This apparently is the place to be seen! I was surprised to find the bar crowd in their late 30's-40's, most of the night. Our waitress was AWESOME (always request Lisa), and I ended up making reservations again later in the week! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Loud, Crowded, Parking Costs more

Would be nice to get in... 1/21/2006

We got there at 11:00 and waited in line for about 45 minutes. During this time, many ladies and wanna be rich-guys passed us by. Seriously, this is Minneapolis and not New York. Been there before and definitely not worth the wait. We left and found somewhere much less pretensious that wouldn't charge us $10 for a drink. Pros: unsure Cons: long lines, long lines, long lines more

The Ultimate place for great food and fun 10/6/2005

I was visiting from out of town and loved this new concept for a resturant. I had a fantastic meal of Halibut and a salad. The Service was friendly and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. Once our meal was finished we noticed how the resturant slowly turned into a cool lounge atmosphere...the music was turned up and the crowd was hot! A see and be seen kind of place. I will definitely tell business travelers and friends who visit Minneapolis that Bellanotte is a must! more

Bella-SUCK 9/10/2005

Mediocre service, went there for Sunday dinner and all the entrees were tasteless, nearly no herbs or spices, I thought I was just eating shrimp and noodles. The primavera was horrible and the only thing decent ordered in my party was the chicken, which is hard to screw up I guess. Pros: location, ambience, .... nothing else Cons: poor food, mediocre service, no food for the $$ more

O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D! 8/26/2005

Space is cool. Food is alright but not worth the price! Server was great although followed a typical ""fine-dining script."" Which I just find annoying!! The weekend bar crowd...AWFUL. Ugly people getting dressed up and acting extremely pretentious!! Seriously, we are in Minneapolis, not L.A. Factor in being at Block E; enough said! more

Definately Bella 7/21/2005

I was truely impressed by this resturant. From the moment I had the front door opened for me to the last bite of Bella Chocolate heaven I was shown an amazing time. I was dinning alone so I decided to eat at the bar. A smiling, well dressed. and knowledgable bartender greated me and guided me through an expirience that started with fresh oysters and salad, moved to filet and finished with a chocolate lovers dream. The service was promt and energetic. I left full and uplifted. I will be back to dine again! Pros: Exceptional Service, Amazing Food, Warm Ambiance more

It's Average 7/7/2005

Have been a couple of times and I'm not impressed. First, the Copper River salmon special was great ... but everything else was only okay. The menu isn't particularly creative. What's scary is the half of the items on the menu can be found at Culver's. Service is fine, but not up to the standards of other fine dining options nearby. The bar scene is fun and the live music is nice ... but LOUD. It was hard to have a conversation with a table of six unless the band was between sets. Pros: Bar Scene Cons: Boring Menu more

Don't Waste Your Money 7/5/2005

Bellanotte failed on many levels. The bottom line is the food. The pasta bolognase had been sitting under a heat lamp too long. For close to $20, it was disgraceful. I asked for some more sauce, and the sauce arrived 15 minutes later - after I had to remind the waiter about it. The service and the food were overpriced and over rated. I suggest skipping this over priced over rated restaurant, and going to Cosmo next door instead. Pros: sorry, none more

Beautiful Night Indeed 3/29/2005

I walked in and was transported to another city. This restaurant is unlike anything in Minneapolis and a ""must"" when entertaining family and friends. The food was outstanding and I find myself still thinking about the butternut squash and spinach ravioli. I will definately be back! Pros: great food, beautiful atmosphere, good service more

Bad Experience 3/6/2005

had a wonderful meal with friends, settling the bill was a NIGHTMARE! we left more than enough to cover the bill, but turned out the waiter divided the bill wrong (his error) and stopped us on the way out to make sure he got his tip; it took over 20 minutes to re-run our cards, and in the meantime we were stranded at the host desk looking like we couldn't pay our bill. complaint to the manager resulted in her asking us to come back, an offer to hear our issues, and free appetizers - we went, willing to forgive and forget. the manager really didn't seem to care at all about our frustrations - we felt resentful that we had been lured back to spend more money with no satisfaction our experience with the staff soured us all on what was truly a great meal (if a bit overpriced) more

Bad Service 2/28/2005

Forget the Valet. Spent $500 of dinner which wasn't worth it and was kicked out into the cold with my female fiends and my wife. They left thier coats in the car. Valet says twenty minutes, yeah right more like 1 hour and 45 min! We froze and security would not allows us to stay warm inside til our car was brought up. No service and treated like dogs. Forget this place and spend our money where you are the customer. Pros: Ambience, Good looking people, Location Cons: Valet, Serivce, Food more

Horrible. 2/3/2005

Everything was horrible -- the service, the food, and the ""scene."" Our table of six -- all of us in our early 30s and fairly well versed in Minneapolis' restaurant/club scene -- agreed that it was our worst night out in a long time, and vowed we would never go back. Cons: Service, Overpriced food more

Disappointed 1/7/2005

It was my suggestion for our group to dine there, and of course it was my dinner that went wrong. I ordered Chicken Picatta, the rest of the group ordered various pasta dishes, perhaps that's what caused the problem, but my chicken was raw. I notified my server, and she brought it back to the kitchen, and brought it back as the rest of the group was finishing their meals, I wasn't compensated at all for the inconvienience. No, I didn't ask for something off the bill, but I don't think I should have had to. I don't think it's up to me to beg for something off of my bill, the servers should be empowered to make things right for the customer without an ackward scene. I expected more. Pros: ambiance, location more

bella not so much 12/9/2004

Hmmm, I had to wait over an hour, over 60 minutes to get a drink. I waited and waited, went up to the portable bar set up on the patio, and was told they did not have the ingredients for my drink. I ordered a Southern Comfort on the rocks! They did not have it! Finally, when I got the drink from the waiter, there was lipstick all over the cheap plastic cup. After requesting a new cup, the waiter told me he needed to get the drink made inside, he would not just bring a new cup out for me. So, now waiting over 90 minutes for a drinkable drink, I asked that it be removed from my bill. He refused, stating the delay was because it was busy. Pros: huge patio Cons: , poor service, horrible service more

Beautiful night, little food 11/14/2004

Yes, this place is beautiful and the food was delicious. Service was less than par. When paying $34+ for a tiny filet, no one should have to wait to place a drink order or to have their water filled. And this $34 filet -- absolutely mouthwatering but that's all you got -- no asparagus spear, nothing. Just a small filet in the middle of a big plate. Thank goodness for the Happenings discount or we'd still be hungry!! We'll go back, only with a coupon. Yes, we're frugal, but we have no problem paying for a perfect meal. Pros: Great food, Funky Atmosphere, Great location Cons: , Small portions, Don't validate parkin more

Bellaterrible 9/27/2004

I brought a friend there for his birthday. I made a reservation in advance thinking that I might get better seating than someone coming off the street, but was instead seated right in between the bar and the dining area instead. I do admit that the place is beautiful, but extremely loud. It reminded me of the sound level found in a cafeteria. The service was spotty at best. There were many lags between courses. Everything just seemed to be out of sync for the waitress and she seemed to act as if she didn't care. While the food was very well done and delicious, the other factors such as the loud noise and the innatentive service made it an unmemorable evening. I would definately not go back to this overpriced restaurant. Pros: beautiful restaurant Cons: , inattentive service, loud more

Bella-LetDown 9/21/2004

With all the hype surrounding this place, I expected to be wowed. Instead, I found this place to be lousy. I was only there for drinks on a Friday night, so I cannot speak of the food, but late nights here are terrible. They begin shutting the place down at about 11:30. Everywhere we went, it seemed we were constantly being asked to move so they could wheel out some portable bar or put chairs on the tables to shut the section down. THIS IS BEFORE MIDNIGHT ON A FRIDAY! The place is way too crowded and loud (for now, while its new), the $10 glasses of ice with a splash of alchohol are not worth it and its attempt at being a chic club is mediocre at best. Cons: , Overpriced, Overrated more

fred 8/31/2004

It is about time, minneapolis finally has a place with great food and awsome ambience. love the steaks and the salmon. Pros: great food , great atmosphere more

Plenty of other restaurants downtown 8/24/2004

I agree with the person who said ""good place to go if you don't like your money"" I would add that our server should have stayed in South Beach with his attitude. Items were either forgotten or brought late in the meal and know one from the staff seem to notice or if they did they seemed to have more important things to worry about besides our table of eight. Food was OK at best. more
