Sesame Chicken tastes like Fish! 8/14/2011

Sorry Beijing Wok. I've lived in this neighborhood for 15 years and have eaten at your establishment many times. On my last order the Sesame Chicken tasted like it had been fried in the same oil as the Fish had. Most of the time it is great but not the last time. Good thing Ocean China is close by! more

Used to be a good restaurant.... changed owners now BAD 3/9/2010

This restaurant used to be one of our favorites. The old owner Paul used to make excellent dishes and really good customer service. When this place changed ownership in 2007 or 2008, the quality of food WENT DOWN THE HILL and the service is way BELOW the ground! We hate to eat there so for one last try we order a delivery so that we don't deal with bad service at the restaurant but we are WRONG! My mom tried to place an order on the phone, she hasn't finish saying all of our order and the lady (manager/owner) was rushing her and said ok it will be there in 20 min then hanged up..... So how would this MANAGER know that our orders will come in 20min if my mom has not finished ordering???????? HORRIBLE! So my mom automatically called back and asked why did the manager hanged up..... she (manager) said bec they were so busy and the other phone lines are ringing. IS THIS A JOKE???? This owner is in a wrong business! So they finally completed the order and got my mom's credit card #. My mom always wants the person taking the order (manager/owner) over the phone to repeat all the items on the list and know the total amount that they are going to charge her, but even before she ask the manager to do that, she had already hanged up AGAIN! So this time I was the one who called them back and fired out my mouth and told them to credit any charges to my mom's credit card and cancel all the order and we will never ever ever eat or order from their f**** restaurant! Pros: nothing Cons: Bad food, bad service, bad manager more

They Cheap Out On Ingredients What A Rip Off 5/3/2009

I ordered KungPaoChicken but was delivered KungPaoPeanuts. When I ordered delivery a second occasion I asked for less peanuts but and was given KungPaoCarrots. There was less than a half of cup of teen tiny bits of chicken pieces. I wish I could have shown you a picture of that hugh mound of orange, cubed carrots. What a jip. Also Sweet&Sour Pork was good but the veggies that accompany the dish, bell pepper, onion and pineapple were of very VERY stingy proportions. Beijing Wok Delivery Orders Is A Major Rip Off!!!!. Pros: Sauce is tasty and delevery is fast but that's all Cons: Dishes are misrepresented more

unfriendyl supervisor and terrible food 4/9/2009

i ordered number 7 item on the seafood menu section which said ""shrim in garlic sauce"" when i asked the watress who took my order what came with this dish , she said mashrooms and rice, then i asked her to put the mushrooms on the side. when i went home and opened the container all i saw was a bunch of water chesnut with tiny 9 pieces shrips barried under the chesnut and nasty brown sauce, and hard/raw/dry mushrooms on the side which i did not dare to touch, i ate only the rice and mushrooms which did not fill me up, rest of it went to trash can, and i am not a big eater. When i called the supervisor (chiness woman) and told her that they should chane the name on the menu, she said shrimps are expensive, you only get ten, i attemtped to explain to her my consern was not the number of shrimps, and was trying to tell her that the menu statement about my order was incorrect, i dindn't even finish before she cut me off and said ""u ask for mushroom on the side and now u complaining"". then i just hung up. 5 minutes later she called my house after seing my number on the caller i.d. , which surprised me, and she said , ""mam, we give you what you ordered"", then i was frustrated, but maintained my cool and attempted to tell her why i was not happy with my order, she then had the nurve to yell at me and say, "" you stop, you stop, you making me upset"", at that point, i knew i had to stop taling to this psycho Cons: never again more

Don't waste your money. 8/4/2008

We have tried their takeout a few times and been consistently disappointed. Steamed dumplings came overcooked and so dried out I couldn't even chew them. Lo mein was very greasy, pepper beef was tiny hard fried pieces of meat that were mostly fried flour. The egg drop soup is thick and goupy. We won't order from them again. For the money, Hao Hao is much better takeout available in the same area of town. Pros: They deliver quickly. Cons: The food is poor. more

Never Again 5/1/2008

The delivery was messed up which I could excuse if the food had been worth waiting for. All three of our entrees tasted the exact same, bland and covered in brown sauce. As hungry as my husband was he could not eat his and opted for a ham and cheese sandwich instead. I'm not sure how they are still in business. If you would like to try it, come on over, its all sitting in my fridge. Pros: The delivery guys was friendly Cons: Nasty food more

First time to try... 12/3/2007

This was our first time ordering from Beijing Wok. Food was piping hot, but the sauce was very greasy and amazingly bland for spicy dishes. A previous reviewer had mentioned about the brown sauce thing, and it's true. Close to my house so it is quite convenient. Will try again in the future. Maybe I'll find the dish that is their best... more

Good Service / Food got Better 8/22/2007

Just went there last night to get some Sesame Shrimps and Seafood Combination plate. The food quality has gotten much better since the last time I have visited (couple months ago). \r Also, you have to understand that the food is cheap here.. you can't really expect to have the top notch quality of food when you dont pay the top quality money. Pros: Value / Food Great Service Cons: Myabe the atmosphere more

Low Quality 8/4/2007

The service was excellent, but unfortunately the food might be the worst Chinese since I've been in Austin. They like to use the same brown sauce on everything, and while a sauce based on beef broth would be ideal on beef with broccoli, it certainly doesn't do well on duck. The ribs were mostly fat and drowning in sauce, as was all of the food. You would be better off microwaving something that proclaims itself Chinese food than eating this stuff. Pros: Fast Delivery Cons: The Food more

Best chinese food around that area 4/11/2007

I usually call for delivery and they are always on time and the food is still HOT! Also, I really liked their services. Waitstaffs were great and the manager always visited the table to check customers satisfaction about the food! more

Fast Deliveries 4/8/2007

Fastest in the area. They also come in an insulated carrier so the food stays hot until we put it on the table more

Great food! 7/17/2003

We've never actually been to the restaurant, but we order from Beijing Wok all the time. The food is consistently good and the delivery is always prompt. The orange chicken is awesome--and they have the best egg foo young I've ever had! more

One of the better Chinese food in South 4/30/2003

Service was good, food was decent, but location is bad. They serve good quntitiy for its price. Pros: service Cons: rice is dry, location more

Fresh & Spicy 1/17/2003

A more imaginative menu than most restaurants of its type. The food tastes fresh, flavorful and spicy. The interior of this eatery is a pleasant surprise and take-out and delivery are also available. Try the curried shrimp! Pros: inexpensive, good parking, fresh more

Kick A$$ Chineese food 6/27/2002

Not only do they serve great food but they have a really good record with delieveries. Its not very expensive and is always hot and tasty. :) Well worth calling or dropping by. Pros: tasty, quick, lots of food more
