Best

We have great clients who care. Many people understand that dealing with public is not easy. There is value for everything you buy. It you get something very cheap is either stole...

Worst

DO NOT take your pet here! They are only interested in charging exorbitant rates, often for services you don't need. If you question them in any way, they refuse to take care of...

Rude, gruff, and overpriced 7/16/2008

I took my cat in to see Dr. Basilious, because he specialized in felines only. My cat has never had any serious medical issues, and so I was quite concerned about his welfare. Dr. Basilious was very gruff and rude with me when I asked questions about my cat's condition. I wanted him to fully explain my cat's prognosis, but he seemed to take that as me being difficult. He charges double what most vets in the area charge. After visiting him, I ended up having to take my cat to an emergency clinic anyway, where they actually charged forty dollars LESS than Dr. Basilious, and yet it was emergency care. I definitely would not recommend Dr. Basilious to anyone. Pros: Felines only Cons: Way overpriced, rude, unhelpful more

No Mystery . . . Just Lots of TLC 6/11/2008

I'm writing this positive review because I found a few bad reviews mixed in with the mostly excellent ones on a couple of sites. I've been taking my cats to Bastet Cat Hospital for nearly eight years and I couldn't be happier with them. Dr Basilious is excellent with my cats; he knows how to calm a cat after a ride in the car and he is always gentle while examining the patients. This is the only vet I've known who regularly takes the time to explain his diagnoses and always discusses treatment options, as he realizes that everyone has different priorities and financial situations. He gives his recommendations and leaves it up to the client to decide how they can and want to proceed. I have never been charged for any service I didn't receive, and in fact the doctor has often reduced or eliminated fees to thank me for my continuing loyalty to the hospital. Just an added bonus to my allover good experiences here; I gladly pay slightly higher fees in exchange for a cats-only environment with up-to-date equipment, medicine, and veterinary knowledge . . . and a caring, considerate doctor! I recommend Baster Cat Hospital to everyone who loves their cat. Pros: Extremely gentle, caring, considerate doctor Cons: Turnover in office staff lately more

Avoid at any cost 5/20/2008

Wow, where do I start? I usually don't write negative reviews about bad businesses, but if I can prevent someone who loves their cat from going to Bastet, I will. The doctor is beyond rude and unprofessional. Made us feel stupid when we asked him simple questions about our cat's health (this was a routine exam), and has absolutely no bedside manner when it comes to his feline patients. Maybe he had a bad day but this is no way to treat your clients. We also found out he charged us for services that weren't performed (alerted to us by one of his staff) and grudgingly removed it from the bill. Avoid like the plague. Pros: Cats only Cons: Rude vet, turnover of office staff, charges for services not performed. more

Excellent Care 5/19/2008

We've been taking our cats to Bastet for years. Through cancer, heart disease, irritable bowel disorder, and just plain check ups. Dr. Basilious is thorough and compassionate yet understands minimizing pain to the cats and cost to us. We've lost two pets while going to Bastet and, although our kitties eventually died, the care that they received during their health problems was excellent and the doctor and staff were extremely caring towards our babies and us. I could not recommend them more highly. Pros: Caring, thorough, very knowlegable. more

Great Vet! 5/9/2008

Bastet Cat Hospital is the best place I?ve ever brought my cats. I would tell anyone in the entire area to bring their cats to Dr. Sam Basilious. Dr. Basilious is a warm, caring and a responsible veterinarian. more

Love this Vet 4/30/2008

i love this Vet! They always take great care of my cat, and I would not trust anyone else with her care. Pros: Great care, very knowledgeable more

Completely Unprofessional Behavior 5/25/2007

I brought my Abyssinian to Dr. Basillious for a possible urinary blockage-in cats, potentially fatal. The Dr. said he would have to anesthetize my cat in order to do x-rays and catheter his urinary tract-in other words, he had all ready diagnosed a problem without the x-rays. I was then given an estimate by one of his techs for over 850.00-most of which was not even mentioned by the Dr. beforehand. My main complaint is that he said he would get right to it.. He said to come back in 45 minutes and he would be done. As I was leaving, 2 people arrived with another cat. I came back in an hour (15 more minutes than the Dr. asked for). My cat had still not been treated. I could hear the Dr. talking to people in one of the treatment rooms. These were the people who came in after me. He was clearly not discussing the health of their cat. I was upset but not loud or angry when I asked the tech why he was just talking to these people and not treating my cat. I said I would have come back in 2 hours if you said 2 hours. The Dr. must have overheard me because he came angrily storming out of the treatment room and yelled at his tech to get my cat out of here-he would not treat him and how dare I tell him what to say to his clients. Suddenly my cat came running out of the back obviously scared and the Dr. yelled-""put him in the carrier"". I said he will not let anyone but me go near him at this point as the cat was very tense. He repeated no, ""I don't want to treat your cat, and you can't come back here to get him!"". Finally, the other clients left and he allowed me to put him in the carrier. By now, I was in shock-I had never seen anything like this. I did not know where else to bring him. The tech (the one who was shocked as well), gave me the # and address of a place about a mile away. I called them (VCA Pet Hospital on Olive in Burbank) and Jill, the office manager told me to bring him right in. Night and Day. They took him in and treated him with care and compassion. Pros: Near my House Cons: Uncompassionate, over estimate of charges-rude temperment more
