Great food & wine selection, comfortable and friendly service!

Yummy Toasty sandwiches 10/23/2007

I recently started working downtown and I've come to Banquette a couple of times and loved my food each time. All the toasty sandwiches I've tried, I've really enjoyed! I really like the Coppa (artichoke hearts, salami, arugula, pesto). The staff was pretty friendly and the service was decent. I haven't tried happy hour yet, but I'm looking forward to checking it out. Pros: food, price, quaint atmosphere Cons: parking more

Best French Toast 10/15/2007

I agree with both ratings. On one hand they are quite great...but the ""negative"" remarks has a lot of honesty in it. The good news is today they shut down to really do a ""spring"" cleaning of sorts. I frequent the establishment because I feel I am having my meal in an old European cafe. Not to mention I am extraordinarily addicted to their French Toast made of croissant...you can enjoy it as a dessert as well. more

better wine cafes downtown 10/7/2007

Banquette looks charming, and the space is, but keep walking to other wine bars / cafes downtown. By 1pm , they were already out of soups, their oven was out of order so the menu was severely limited, I was surprised to see filth under their pastry cabinet, and there was a food and grease covered trash can sitting on the dining room floor. Service??? The person who took our order walked across the street and never returned. The one waitress left never checked on us, asked about our food, or offered more wine. She was much more concerned seating her own friends and socializing. We waited 30minutes for her to bring a check and finally we had to approach the bar and ask to pay for our brunch. I would not recommend this this cafe and if I knew how to contact the owner, I would convey my concerns that his charming establishment is going down the drain. Pros: charming interior Cons: horrible service, deli-style food more

Bruschette with Eggplant, Caramelized Onion, Dolce Gogonzola... Yummy!!! 2/9/2007

Great Place After a Long Day at Work 2/9/2007

We keep finding ourselves coming here again and again on a Friday night- what a great place to relax, drink, and graze! A surprising assortment of wines by the glass, great nibbles, and very friendly service. This is a wine bar in the classic sense, with a great open-air vibe. Pros: great value, relaxed atmosphere Cons: parking downtown (easiest after-hours) more

A Little Downtown Jewel - if service was better 2/8/2006

Great food, beautiful little French bistro-style cafe and wine bar. Nice neighborhood-feel. Fresh selection of sandwiches, pastries, and awesome apple toast. They seem to need more help in the kitchen though. The food comes out very slow. Service is laid-back and even a little testy - the lady make us feel we were troubling her and she served us a little attitude. This place would be much nicer if service was more friendly and accomodating. Pros: Good Food, Beautiful Little Cafe Cons: Slow Kitchen, Slow Service more

The smells will get you through the door 1/21/2005

We were having lunch over at Pete's (which is next door) and I smelled the pastries... divine. The baked goods are fresh and homemade daily. The wine selection is varied and the music was relaxing. They were in the mist of changing their menus and when they are through with I will be back because I took a look at it and it seemed quite delicious. Cost were in line with the area and the neighborhood is still ""shady"" but all in all it's worth the trip. They also expanded their hours of operation until I believe 1:00am Bon Appetit! Pros: Quality of food, variety of dishes, Hip Hang Out Cons: , parking isn't easy more

Go to Banquette! 7/14/2004

Banquette is one of the coolest, most unique restaurants around. Hidden in the old bank district of downtown LA, it is hidden slice of a Parisian bistro. I was able to share a pitcher of wine with friends over great music and talk the night away. Can't wait to go back! more

Great food! 1/22/2004

What a find! I was very pleased with the healthy organic options. It was a little pricey but the food was delicious and creative. The decor is funky and fun. Parking wasn't bad either - one time we parked on a meter and the attached lot is cheap. Pros: Good food, Healthy more
