Best

Good: Out of the myriad number of steakhouses that I've been to in NYC and elsewhere, I found BLT Steak to have the BEST steak, and that's not even counting the Kobe steak that th...

Shots fired, and missed! With the mixed reviews, we decided to try this place out and hope for the best. What we got was a rude server and food that was not worth anywhere near wh...

Can not go wrong 12/21/2004

Everything is fantastic! The bread will get anybody off adkins and the dessert will get you off weight watchers and both are well worth it. I was there to ask my fiance's father if I could marry her, would go for a romantic dinner and have also sent clients. Good for many occassions. more

Something for everyone 12/6/2004

Not your typical steak house. The food is inventive but basic. The selection is big enough that even meat eaters will be satisfied. The presentation was first rate and the service was attentive. Notables included the Filet, the brazed short ribs and the veal chop. more

a new favorite! 11/27/2004

This is a terrific place. The food is wonderful, and the menu is so varied and interesting. The room is chic, modern but comfortable. The waitstaff is a little stiff, but not at all unpleasant. The kobe beef steak sandwich at lunch is incredible. The portions are huge...be forewarned, go on an empty stomach! I had an amazing dessert here...a crepe souffle thing...I can't remember exactly what it was called, but it is worth picking your waiter's brain over...sooo good! Pros: great food, nice looking crowd more

Great dinner 11/18/2004

We didn't show up until almost 11:30 without a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated promptly. Our server was excellent and quick, since we told her how hungry we were. The appetizers and dinner were fantastic. We all tried a variety of meats and sauces with sides and enjoyed just about every one of them. A great place to go for a steak or bbq meal! Pros: great service, nice lounge/bar more

Steak Paradise 9/21/2004

The food was great, although the prices are abit high for such a casual place. Jeans and a button up would do fine. The popovers that they serve for free are to die for! and the complimentary bread and spread are delicious! The restaurant is on the noisey side and but so far it is the best steakhouse I've been in NYC! And I've been to alot. Go here for a casual dinner but great steak. Pros: Steak, Service Cons: , Not Near Subway more

last night 7/24/2004

My waitress was sweet and helpful in selecting wine for my taste and didn't balk when my dining partner declined to drink alcohol. Lots of yummy freebies. Steak was cooked correctly and nicely seasoned. Lots of money dines here. Pros: service, free app, cookies more

Best meal I've had in a while 6/27/2004

I went this past Saturday night and thought it was great. There were 3 of us in our party and I tried everyone's meals. The braised short ribs were excellent - so rich and tasteful and too much for one person. The new york strip was a large cut as well and seasoned nicely. The special - red snapper was a good sized piece served with vegetables and was really good. A steak place can have great seafood too. We each orded one side dish which were all excellent - I would recommend the carrots or the parmesan potatoes. I thought the portions were enough and their wine menu is extensive. I thought it was an overall very nice meal. The service was not top notch but everyone was very friendly and helpful. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: , communication bet, servers more

For the UES Post-Botox set 5/29/2004

BLT Steak is neither a steak house nor a chic destination restaurant -- it is lost somewhere in between. This is not the place for an intimate dinner for two. When it got very loud I couldn't even lean across to speak to my date since the tables were far too wide. Being foreigners from the Upper West Side, we added the only diversity to the clientele. The food was certainly adequate, but at $40 for an a la carte entree, you'd expect more than adequate. The fawning sommelier, obsequeious manager and vacuous hostesses could not make up for the poor wait service. more

rip off 5/16/2004

We had a drink at the bar first. It was basically vodka and bottled Pom beverage (which you can buy in bodegas next to snapple). We sat, did our ordering and were given these overwhelmingly large and gooey chessey popovers... delicious but about five times too big(maybe trying to overcompensate for what was to come.) Our food was good but I felt it was uninspired and a bit lazy. I can find lemon caper butter sauce anywhere! It ended up being abou 110 per person with only one bottle of medium priced wine, regular apps and entrees and one dessert. I felt ripped off. I also felt like it was a blatant ripoff of Craft. Maybe if the LT in BLT weren't so busy making rounds and shaking hands in the dining room all night and stayed in the kitchen a little longer, he could concentrate on his own menu. Cons: , unimaginative food more

Delightful 5/8/2004

The excellent experience began when we arrived 30 min. early and were seated immediately. The complementary duck liver mousse was very tasty, the popovers with gruyere divine. Sommeliere made a wonderful recommendation. Crabcake was a dream, but the shredded celery root threatens to overpower it; eat them separately. Tuna tartare was heavenly. NY strip steak was too good to put the nice, tart red wine sauce on. Marinated chilean sea bass created a totally brilliant alchemy with the soy-ginger sauce and parsnip puree. Mushrooms (hen o' the woods, with garlic and butter) and asparagus (char grilled with a little salt) perfectly simple and lovely. Desserts were nice (crepe souffle and lemon meringue) but avoid the greasy little brown discs that come unbidden. Coffee was uninspired. Service was helpful, attentive and appropriately obsequious. Only complaint about the ambience is the noise level. more

Not too impressed 4/22/2004

I take clients out on a regular basis and many are out of towners. I always ask in advance what type of food they prefer. If they say Steak I always go to Bobby Vans on either 46th & Park or their new location on E. 54th between Park & Lexington. I must note that I have been to all of the rest. Regardless I decided to try something different and I was not very pleased with the barely warm meat and slow service. Although my clients were happy with their meal I will stick with Bobby Vans who know how to churn out perfect steaks consistently on a daily basis! more

Awe inspiring 3/5/2004

I attended the soft opening of BLT Steak last night and I'm still pinching myself. It was simply incredible. The wine, the food and atmosphere where all remarkable. Most notable was the Tuna Tartare, Foie Gras BLT, Rib Eye for two (one of the few steaks I've had in a while that was done as I had requested: medium rare...why is it that so few NYC restaurants, aside from a notable few, can prepare a steak correctly?). The sides were a heavenly compliment to the meats. Mashed potatoes, braised carrots and creamed spinach were rich, flavorful and delicious. Oh, and do yourself a favor: save room for dessert when you go. BLT Steak opens to the public on March 9th and I urge you all to go and enjoy the latest addition to New York's short list of finest restaurants. Pros: fantastic food, attentive service, great atmosphere more
