BLT Steak

In general, steakhouses to me are ""cookie-cutter"" throughout all of Manhattan. This one stands out as the exception, except that it can be extraordinarily loud which is pretty commonplace. The ambience is warm, the food just delicious, and the service was excellent. One other noteable was the significant representation of young women in the restaurant, many eating in groups of 4+, without the company of men. This speaks volumes, I believe. went to BLT steak last night in a group of 4. everything was great from the service to the decor and of course the food. Our waiter was very attentive and answered our questions with no problems. we started off with the complimentary pop-overs, which i think i could eat everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner. i considered askign for more but i knew that we were about to gorge ourselves. apps: the oysters were great, the scallop special was amazing, and the tuna tartar was also really good.\r then the steak....i ordered the ny strip which was perfectly charred and peppery on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. 2 of my friends had the filet. one thought it was a little fatty which shouldn't happen with filet, but it tasted really good anyway. my other friend had the rib eye, the biggest steak on the menu, which was also perfect. i would rate these steaks up there with any other great steak that i've had.\r sides: we had the asparagus, potatoes gratin and gnochi, which were all great too.\r desert: the bread pudding and sundae just put us over the top.\r all in all, this was a great meal and i would highly reccomend this place. Tuesday and Wednesday are the best nights to go. The crowd is a mix of suits and sophisticated looking women (you'll definitely see someone famous stroll in around 8pm) It's perfect for client dinners. The wine list is solid and for the most part comparable price wise to other steak houses. Definitely get the tuna tartare or the Lobster Cobb Salad. The 14 oz Strip is delicious as is the Skirt Steak Wagyu. Try the Red Wine or Horseradish sauces. If you are deciding on fish then go with the Dover Sole. It is a bit pricey. The potato gratin or mash potatoes is a MUST! As for dessert, go with the peanut butter mouse for dessert. We get it every time. Finally, don't be shocked when you see the bill. The porterhouse for 2 was cooked to the perfect temperature and the bevy of servers we had were right on point. Highly recommend this place for drinks, dinner, and special occasions. My wife took me here on a Saturday in December for my birthday as I am a huge steak fan and it was perfect. Everything from the bartenders for an apertif to the desert was done just right. The porterhouse for 2 was cooked to the perfect temperature and the bevy of servers we had were right on point. Highly recommend this place for drinks, dinner, and special occasions. My wife and I visited BLT for lunch this past week and it was a great experience. The staff was polite and the service was excellent. The meal started with popovers that were great! A petite filet for the wife and tuna for myself and they were both very good. We had an order of onion rings that looked like a stack of Krispy Kreme's. The sides are big, so you can certainly share. Prices are on the high side, but knowing that going in, I felt, it was worth it. Make a reservation, as we got there at noon and it was full by 12:30. Went back to BLT again recently and I am always reminded how much I enjoy the experience of perfectly prepared steaks and great service. This meal will not come cheap, but nothing good ever really does. The wine list is deep and our server was educated on the different varieties available to us...always good. more

My friend and I had a wonderful lunch at BLT Steak. The service was prompt, and the staff was available, but didn't hang all over us. We ordered appetizers, and shared a steak with sides. Everything was great. We were totally stuffed but still got dessert. I've eaten at Peter Luger's on Northern Blvd a few times, and I think BLT Steak has better food, better prices, and is just a nicer place to go. more

And they are great at it. Would hate to see the typical Smith & Wollensky or Mortons crowd overwhelm here. When I enter a restaurant with such high ratings I often find my self disapointed, not the case here. Everything was as good if not better than I expected. The amuse that was sent out was fantastic, not to mention the famed popovers. My boyfriend and I shared the porterhouse and enjoyed every bite until we couldnt possibly continue.
