The Scene
Like an authentic Southern blues battle, the roster of steely-eyed guitar slingers, harp blowers and "she done me wrong" singers is always impressive. The club itself is three stories high, the second and third floors ending in balconies with a clear view of the first floor stage from just about anywhere. A complete restaurant pulses beneath the club's neon-lit surface, offering authentic Creole dishes and a popular gospel brunch on Sundays.
The Draw
You might assume that tourists leaving Universal Studios would be inclined to stop in and check out the ruckus, but you'd be wrong. Newcomers can feel at ease in the club's fluorescent blue haze, social types share the same air as the dating crowd, and blues musicians congregate to gaze enviously or pick up a few tricks.
