Awesome Atmosphere at Aveda 8/18/2011

I had a lovely experience at Aveda. Though I arrived pretty early for my appointment, the staff was welcoming and offered me refreshments. My appointment was efficient and well done. I was worried about going to a "school" to get my hair done but the fact that the instructors check on each student several times during the process relieved me a lot. Definitely going back for other appointments. more

Haircut 8/18/2011

I always have a great time at the AI. I don't mind that it takes 2.5 hours to get my haircut. My stylist, Stefany, listens to what I need and when I ask that she cut another inch off, she does it happily. I wish the waxing services where a little more affordable... I'd love to try it. Thanks more

60 min facial - Heaven! 8/18/2011

I went in for a basic 60 min facial. My skin was irritated from allergies and hormonal breakout. The facial was calming & my skin looked less irritated when I woke up this morning. The spa atmosphere is relaxing and everyone is always friendly! more

Definitely Coming Back! 8/18/2011

This place is awesome. Don't go to some salon and pay a fortune, Aveda is super cheap and they do a great job. While you have a student doing your hair or nails, they have instructors close by who come periodically to check on how you and the student are doing. I had a great experience here, love the color and cut of my hair. At the end of your visit, the student shows you the products they used on you (they are required to), then you have the option of purchasing any of them you want when you check out (you don't have to). more

The nail polish/ nail services I received were not great. I can see why, clearly these are students, and are not necessarily passionate about giving manicures and pedicures as much as other procedures. Their are no salon chairs or spa baths, just a copper bowl that does not have the same effect. The polish that they use is AWFUL-I have had all natural polishes before but this bubbles up and slides right off. Just skip it if you ask me. The product pushing has got-to-go it is almost offensive, they require their students to fill a basket with their incredibly over priced product line. These people are PAYING the institution to learn how to be beauticians not how to push product! (unless the school discounts tuition with commissions or something). My hair cut is amazing though and was done VERY quickly. I will go back to Ana, and the teacher who helped her cut my hair (Justine) was super nice and talented also. more

One of top spas in Austin 8/17/2011

I've been to many spas in Austin from downtown to Westlake and this one is definitely one of the nicest. The products used for facials is great and the experience was very relaxing. Any longer & I would've fallen asleep. The only thing I wonder about is if use of the steam room is included with a service. A relaxing steam is nice prior to a service. more

Love my haircut! 8/15/2011

I am a repeat customer at the Aveda Inst. of Austin. They are always able to fit me in on the weekends. I try to go to the same person, but I also have 2 back up girls. Everyone is very thorough. I recently went this past Sat. for just a haircut. Natalie was new to me, but she was awesome! She did a great job with my limp, fine hair. Very easy to talk to! Just an FYI...their color treatments are great! I've never left with bronze spots from coloring it wrong, which I have with high-end salons! The deals here are great, but plan to be there for approx. 1-2 hours for a haircut & up to 5 hours for color. It is a teaching school, so they have to be slow and careful, but also have to get approval on everything from the instructors before moving forward. more

I have been going to the Aveda Institute in Austin, TX since it open last fall. I absolutely love the products and the prices. The students do a fantastic job of preparing the clients for the service they are receiving. The services I have received are haircuts, hair color and facials. Love it, Love it, Love it. Good value for money if you have the time 8/12/2011

I had a good experience here, all the stylists were helpful and chatty. My facial went above and beyond- footrub and hand massage to boot and my hair stylist was more willing than your average hairdresser to talk to me about my hair situation and what I could do about it (teaching is the best way of learning after all) which was nice. My only complaint is that I had an hour long wait in between appointments since they schedule extra time for the teaching portion. Otherwise great, and such good prices! more

My hair always comes out looking the best it can possibly be. CC or Christine listen to what I ask her to do with my hair, and provides great advise on how we might proceed getting the look that I am striving for. When I pay professionally to have my hair done it does not look as good as the Institute provides. Thank You more

Great Experience 8/11/2011

I had a hair cut/style and a 60-minute facial at the Aveda Institute. With the exception of the long wait before I got in, I had an excellent experience here. The students were professional and communicative, and the instructors were very concerned about the quality of work they were doing. Will definitely visit again. more

I originally made an appointment to have a 90 minute facial, but once I was there, the student convinced me to change my appointment to a short facial and a back treatment. While I'm not blaming her at all for the change, as I agreed to it, I wished I had stayed with the 90 minute facial. Switching made my facial way too short and I found I wanted more. However, I immensely enjoyed my facial and back treatment. That was my first time getting a back treatment and it was wonderful. more

Priceless, from the start to finish with the appointment through the delivery of service - exceptional. The student is keenly aware of the methodology the practice and delivery with the added benefit of an instructor...priceless. I enjoy the benefits of a color and cut and all the while experience the Aveda culture, I highly recommend it. more
