Not a good experience. They forgot to order my grout with my order and then it came in but was in the wrong color. No apologies were given. I will never shop here again.

Well, the pro is that they have nice tile. The con is the atrocious communication and customer service. We are now 8 weeks late on our 12 week project, and they are responsible for the delay. We are organized and knew what we needed months in advance. Our tile was ordered with a buffer of two weeks more than Art Tile's estimated delivery date. It didn't arrive, and they never notified our builder. This was a shame for the tile installer who was scheduled and waiting. THREE weeks later it was supposed to arrive. But again, it didn't and again they did not call. Inconvenient for the tile installer again, as well as the plumber and painter who were waiting for him to finish. Did Art Tile apologize? No. Did they offer any other solution when I went to the store in person to discuss the situation? No, but they were darned snarky and rude. The THIRD time the tile did not arrive when promised (another several week delay) I requested a call from the owner. Did I get one? No. At that point I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. That was a month ago, and they have failed to reply to two notifications from the BBB, although our tile finally did arrive. Art Tile does not seem to care about their customers, and apparently does not care about their accreditation status with the Better Business Bureau either. I would shop elsewhere! more

Beware of Art Tile advice 7/16/2012

I like the feeling of Art Tile and interactions with the staff were pleasant, but they resulted in a very poor choice of tile. A recent experience there has me swearing off the place because I feel like I can’t trust their recommendations. We are building a shower stall in simple white tile with a colored, textured band running around the stall at about eye level. The Art Tile salesperson I worked with knew exactly what we were planning. One of the sample tiles looked intriguing—an interesting sculpted pattern from a company called Local Dirt. The salesperson raved about what a nice young man the owner was and how she hoped they would make it. I noticed that the tiles seemed to vary in color shade significantly, and I was concerned about that, but felt we had resolved it so we ordered the pricey tiles. Big mistake! Unfortunately that salesperson didn’t warn me that Local Dirt tiles are highly variable in terms of warping/flatness too. The samples I saw in the showroom weren’t warped (carefully selected for marketing purposes, I imagine). If I had known that 8 out of 33 tiles I ordered would be so warped that one or more of their corners protrudes 1/8th of an inch off the wall—very noticeable next to the standard tiles on the wall—I never would have selected that brand. Now my tile band doesn’t look intriguing, it looks unfinished and amateurish. With the right project—one where everything is rough and uneven—these mutant tiles could work. But not on our project. The Art Tile saleswoman knew what we were planning and didn’t say anything. Maybe she is just too enthusiastic about the young company. But personally I feel like I was sold a bill of goods. Later, when I talked with her about it at the store, she really didn’t much care much. And when I wrote to Art Tile I got no response. Seems like they feel it’s not their problem. Fortunately for us there are other tile shops in town for future projects. more

Beyond Dissapointed and frusterated.... 6/7/2011

Just don't do it...or, at least don't use the installers. We had a small area in our one bathroom house, that needed tile. Nothing fancy, but because it was the area around the toilet and shower, the bathroom was rendered unusable until the tile would be installed. We were quoted that the tile would take two weeks to get in, and that they would come the following thursday, and it would be a three day job to get the tile installed, set the grout, and seal the job before we could shower in our bathroom. We agreed and planned on showering at the gym or our parents' house for those 2 1/2 weeks. Well, the day before they were supposed to come and install our tile, they called and said that our tile wasn't in yet...in fact they had not ordered it yet!!!! Then, after we paid extra money (on top of what we paid 2+ weeks prior) to get the order expedited, they said that they were overbooked and had to reschedule for another week out. When that week came, they called again and said they had to reschedule....this went on for about 2 months (!). After explaining that not being able to use our own restroom for two month was unacceptable, they appologised, and credited us back some of the cost of the bid, and sent someone out who at first, seemed to do a good job...however, he did not clean up after himself, and when we lifted the tarps on our brand new sink and marble counter top, and our newly installed tub, we found that he had cracked our sink and broken the drain on the tub!! And ran off planning not to tell us!!! What crap!! We have since noticed continuing issues with the installation that should have been addressed beyond these problems. We have every intention to make sure that everyone we know will avoid Art Tile like the plague!! more

Art tile - NEVER 1/16/2011

I'll never go back to Art Tile - they underestimated the amount of tile I needed for my project - not by a little by by a lot, delaying my remodel. The price they charged was 45% over what my tile person could get the exact same tile. They wouldn't replace broken tile etc. etc. etc. NEVER AGAIN. more

Art Tile Co/ Too Busy and Not Enough Help 7/19/2007

While I visited the store on a Thursday, I saw people wondering around with no one bothering to ask if any assistance was needed. Additionally, two people in addition to myself, left the store after being left just to wonder around. The phone was ringing off the hook. more

a nice little store 6/29/2006

I have been remolding a 1930s house and have been happy with this store. It has a nice selection of tile with some fun ideas. I have bought some of my tile here. The marble hexagons that I got for my floor were significantly cheaper only $23 a sf compared to $35+ that I found in other places. I also got my soap dishes here and could not find them any where else. However that is all I bought at this place. After searching all the stores I found cheaper tile at Dhal, Pental, and Contractor finishing mart. These four stores along with home depot and lowes were where I found my best selection. However I must say the the tile store a couple of blocks up from Green lake, On 65th is well worth looking at. They have a unique selection. I have also been told from a few people that they are the best tile layers in town. I used my own tile guy and so never found out what their work was like. more

Art Tile--Great Selection & Helpful Staff 3/19/2006

We have purchased from Art Tile numerous times & have always been very pleased. The store has a large selection of beautiful tiles, from natural stone to glass to metal to ceramic. It can be a little overwhelming, but spending time browsing and checking out samples helps. The staff also are willing to provide helpful how-to advice as well as design ideas (Brenda was especially helpful last time). It can get crowded on Saturdays, but don't let that keep you away--they are typically fast & efficient. Highly recommended. more

The best tiling advice and selection 8/17/2005

Art Tile is a bewildering place to step into—there is just so many varieties of tile, and patterns, and colors, and where do you put it? That’s where the Art tile employees come in. they are more than willing to hand hold you thru your entire tiling process beginning to end. If you want to install it yourself, they’re okay with that. Or, you can let their pros do it for you. Their tile runs the gamut from cheap to down right expensive with everything in between. As usual with this kind of thing, the installation ends up costing as much as the materials, unless you chose that really expensive tile. more
