As good as it gets 12/11/2005

I am Italian by birth and education and while now Minnesota is my adoptive home, can still recognize Italian food. Arezzo is as good as it gets here in the Midwest and while pricey and not without flaws it is much closer to what one would get in Italy than most other supposedly Italian restaurants in Twin Cities. Another reviewer complained about the gnocchi. Maybe he should know that gnocchi are actually made from potatoes and are not meant to taste like pasta! Arezzo gnocchi are actually quite decent and reasonably close to the real thing (incidentally good gnocchi are difficult to get at a restaurant in Italy too). Unfortunately, when restaurants try to get close to the real taste, too many people seems to be put off by the fact they are eating something different than the fantasy food of places like Buca and Maggiano's. more

Great food, okay service 2/14/2005

Restaurant is great. Very authentic food and atmosphere. Food service was quick, but getting a refill on water or some parmesan cheese took a bit. more

One of the best Italian Restaurants 9/10/2004

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have eaten at. The Gnocchi melted in your mouth, the spinach ravioli was awesome, and the chocolate dessert was decadent. Would highly recommend this place to everyone. more

One of the Best 5/19/2004

This is one of the best retaurants in the Twin Cities. I travel all over the world and live in NYC, this place is a jewel in an otherwise bland restaurant city. Pros: Food, Food, Atmosphere Cons: too popular, needs to be twice the more

ask and you shall.... 12/17/2003

I recently visited this restaurant and received excellent service. I was greeted promptly at the door and had a great server who let me swap sauces on my pasta - which is great. I reccomend the home made kind....yum The middle tables are tight, try to sit around the edge of the restaurant. Pros: wait at the bar more

Disappointment 5/15/2003

I met a couple of friends for my birthday dinner and was really looking forward to this restuarant. It was a huge disappointment. There was a strong seafood smell when we walked in. Our appetizer - the bruscheta - arrived burned and the tomatoes were very poor quality. Our waiter did bring a replacement, but tomatoes were still bad. I ordered the knochi and it was the worst knochi I have ever had. It had the consistency of mashed pototoes - not pasta. I mentioned this to the waiter and he did not offer a replacement or take it off the bill. One friend had a pizza that looked awful and the pizza was soggy. I have had pizza in Italy and this did not even come close. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not return. Cons: Strong seafood smell, Terrible food, Waiter oblivious more

All Right Guys... Steep it UP!! 1/31/2003

Unique and Authentic Fine Dining 1/31/2003

Arezzo offers an extraordinary and diverse menu. They have the best Italian in the Twin Cities. Their menu is diverse enough to please food lovers with more sophisticated tastes and those who will only eat pasta and red sauce. Nothing about Arezzo Ristorante is average, it is an exceptional restaurant. Pros: Wide Variety of Food, Quality Ingredients, Great Service Cons: Many Fattening Foods more

Good Restaurant 12/2/2002

Had dinner here with 2 friends - we did a lot of sharing. The pumpkin soup was good, a little bland - could have used more lobster. Our entrees were good - veal, seabass and gnochi - not great. The wine recommended by the waiter was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant, it's got good atmosphere and good food at good prices. more

Magnifico 11/16/2002

We waited a bit too long for the food to be served after ordering. The presentation was very good. The food was excellent. Desserts were excellent. Service was good. This is a very good fine dining experience for a group of 8 or under. Pros: atmosphere, service, location Cons: waiting area more

A-ZERO 10/24/2002

This restaurant is horrible. The food is bland, comes out 45 minutes after it's ordered, and the service is blah. There is no sense of caring about the customer. My wife and I went here twice, because it is in such a neat location - but someone tell me WHY I would ever go hear again, when exceptional food and service is available at Ciao Bella, just down the street a few miles. Pros: Atmosphere, Location Cons: Food, Service, Seating more

And thank YOU for coming 9/3/2002

Just got back from Arezzo. Thought the food was very good, especially the polenta appetizer and the table side bread. The veal and a chicken dish were good, as were the desserts, custard and torta ricotta. What really bothered me was that we were hardly acknowledged by the staff. The place was almost empty but we were studiously avoided. The waitress was competent but devoid of any affect. (It's ok to smile, dear.) Three guys were roaming around (owners? bartenders? managers?). None of them ever stopped by and asked how was the meal or said thanks for coming. more

who's zooming who? 8/15/2002

Are the reviewers of this retaurant trying to convine themselves that their visit to Arezzo was a good value? And who are the reviewers that claim to be from Italy or know Italian food? Maybe they are thinking Eye-talian. The atmosphere was fine but the prices were high for food that had about as much taste as the menu items at Macaroni Grill. A tortellni slopped high with unremarkable red sauce? Squid-ink fettucine that achieved most of its flavor from the parmesan cheese sprinkled (not grated) onto it? A Neapolitan pizza that was soggy in the center and supposedly had basil, bufala mozzarella and red onions on it? No basil, no taste to the cheese (except for the Parmesan sprinkled on it) and the onions seemed to have been boiled. I'll be throwing my entertainment dollar to the east in Broder's or Pane Vino Dolce. Pros: atmosphere, location Cons: bland, expensive, unremarkable more

Fantastic!! 8/7/2002

Arezzo has it all - atmosphere, service and incredible food. All of their ingredients are flown in fresh from Italy weekly, which, combined with an amazing chef, is what makes this the absolute best italian restuarant, if not best restuarant, in the Twin Cities. I have had better food at very few other restuarants. more

Best Italian 7/31/2002

This place is one of the best Italian Restaurants I have ever eaten at. By the way I'm from the east coast so I know good Italian food. Pros: great value, authentic italian, great atmosphere more

Great bread is just the beginning! 7/19/2002

Great bread was only the beginning! The bread is baked in the wood-fired oven, with salt and rosemary rubbed in. Yum! Excellent variety of wines, fantastic pasta, and a helpful waitstaff. We plan on going back! Only possibly negative note is that while there is a host to greet customers, there's no list to put your name on, so the host relies on the honesty of the customers at the door to determine who was there first. Thankfully, those of us waiting were very nice and everyone was seated within 10 minutes. Pros: Excellent Food Cons: Confusion at entrance more
