I am sooooo glad I found an Andronico's near Mountain View. For the past few weeks I've been searching for an acceptable grocery store. The Albertson's in the San Antonio Shopping Ctr is ok, especially in conjunction with the Trader Joes, but why go to two stores when you can get everything you need and the quality you want from one? The Andronico's at the Stanford Shopping Ctr isn't as big as the one in Berkeley, but it still seems to have a good selection of high quality produce and other items. The deli is great too. The only downside would be fairly narrow aisles so when it's busy, it's pretty irritating. Try to go on off hours to avoid that. Overall, this store is fantastic! more

Great quality but you pay for it 11/3/2005

I have to admit that I love gourmet grocery stores, Andronico's certainly doesn't dissapoint. In addition to a full bakery, deli and butcher shop, this store offers beautiful flowers, a salad bar, wonderful gift wrap and cards, and a nice selection of housewares. When I take my 19 month old son shopping there the bakery usually offers him a free cookie. They have a nice selection of pre-packed deli items and entrées you can take home and heat up. They used to have a lot more but cut back recent;y for some reason. The entrées are pricey, and sometimes mediocre, but it is a nice choice if you need to pick something up after work. more

Gourmet Grocery Store 8/3/2005

Yeah Andronico's sell a lot of organic, gourmet, specialt, and foreign foodstuff. Like the other reviewer said, it really is a fun place to wander around. When I'm bored and feel like I want to treat myself a little I'll go there and buy some weird food I've never tried before. And maybe one of those bottles of water from Italy and those milk in oldschool glass bottles. Trying new stuff is sort of a hit and miss, but isn't everything? The process sure is fun though. PS. Whenever a recipe calls for some weird stuff that you can't find in your neighborhood Safeway, I can almost guarantee you that you will find it at Andronico's. more

Upscale but good stuff 7/16/2005

Known as a upscale market with a lot of variety of organic and specialty label items, this family-owned grocery store has several locations but has not lost its neighborhood charm. It’s a fun place to wander the aisle and see what sorts of products are there. The longer you stay the more will end up in your shopping basket however. Lots of imported items, too! more
