By far my favorite restaurant in Atlanta and I love to eat out. I think it is wonderful from the appetizers (the heirloom tomato salad is so good) to the Three Little Pigs entree...

2008 Restaurant of the Year 12/5/2008

We had a lot of good restaurants open in Atlanta this year. From gastropub perfection at Holeman and Finch to Asian street-eats at Spice Market--foodies certainly didn't suffer in '08. Gotta hand it to Jay Swift for giving us a classic though. Being outstanding and simple is... to me... the golden standard and Swift hits the nail on the head. Decor is elegant without being stuffy, the menu is interesting yet comforting, and the service is hip yet respectful. Even through the tough economic times, this one's worth the splurge. more

Not great, but a solid place to try... 11/19/2008

I thought 4th and swift was good, but not great. The food was very good, but perhaps a little overpriced. I have had food as good or better but with cheaper prices. I feel that you are paying more for the atmosphere, which I felt was lacking. This restaurant is in a old factory, which was loud and drafty. Worth a try, but there are better restaurants in atlanta. Pros: Food Cons: Ambiance more

Great Food, Great Service, Great Fun! 11/17/2008

Highly recommend this restaurant! I recently ate here with a group of friends and had a wonderful time! The waitress was very attentive and gladly answered all of our questions about the menu. No one was ever without water or wine and during the meal both the manager and chef came over to make sure everything was to our liking. The food was wonderful...butternut squash soup was delicious as well as the scallop dish with pumpkin risotto. We had a later reservation and were the last table to leave but never felt rushed through our coffee and desserts. Good for groups or a couple looking for a good date spot. Will definitely go back again and recommend to others! Pros: Food, Valet parking, Friendly staff more

The quality was amazing! 10/3/2008

My husband and I recently visited 4th and Swift while on vacation from the Northeast. I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, which I thought was very comfortable, yet interesting. I really liked the arrangement of the room and cannot wait to try out one of the tables near the kitchen on our next visit to Atlanta; I thought the curtains were really intriguing. Our server was very friendly and eager to please. Pros: Quality, Service, Price Cons: None! more

amazing food, beautiful atmosphere 9/23/2008

I came to 4th and Swift for the first time a few nights ago. I was completely blown away. Right off the bat, parking was easy, and the hostess was warm and helpful. The environment in the restaurant was warm and inviting. The space has been beautifully utilized. It's nice to see a real loft space so perfectly stylized. Pros: ambience, amazing food, helpful service Cons: no compaints! more

Nothing special 9/20/2008

Four diners, nobody excited about the meal. Two had the ""three little pigs"" and one had the scallops -- these are the dishes billed as house specialties, but the reactions were just ho-hum. I had the brisket, and I didn't think it was prepared well. Maybe they rushed the cooking? I know it's usually a fatty piece of meat, but when it's slow cooked, that renders and makes the meat tender and tasty. This was just fatty and unpleasant, and the waitress didn't bother to ask why I was leaving more than half my entree on the plate. Atmosphere reminded be every other ""loft"" restaurant in town. Nothing special. more

Service was good, the owner was rude 9/19/2008

I went to 4th & Swift last night for my birthday and I will never go back. I have never been so insulted by a restaurant. We sat down 30 minutes before the restaurant was to close, so my guest and I ordered all three courses with in 10 minutes of being sat. We did not get our entrees until 10:45, 30 minutes after our salads. After we finishing our entrees, the manager came by for a table check and offered us three desserts for having to wait so long for our entrees. We thanked her for the offer but only wanted one dessert to split between us. My guest suggested to manager that the restaurant take care of the my entree instead of the two desserts for the long ticket time on the meal, the manager kindly accepted the offer. We ask our server for the bill and she tells us that everything has been taken care of, meaning we do not have a bill. But then, five minutes later she brings us a bill for $75.00. My guest gladly pays for the champagne but the server never brings the change, $25.00, back to the table. So, we ask for the change and an email address to contact Jay Swift, the owner. My guest was going to write the owner about our dining experience. Then owner comes to the table and asked us what was the problem in a very a accusatory tone. Then he proceeds to tell us that we have been rude to his staff, which was completely untrue. He cut off my guest in mid-sentence and would not let her finish her comment. Then he looks at us said that we came in looking for something for free, we got it, and it is time for us to leave as he walks away from our table. My guests and I were floored by that statement. Needless to say, that ruined my birthday dinner. Pros: Service Cons: Long time on entrees, the owner's attitude more

Disappointing 9/7/2008

I am hoping they simply had an off night with poor reservation management, but the evening of 9/6 was a debacle for the restaurant. Apparently a private party that ended at 8pm resulted in a terrible experience for those of us dining that evening. To seat 150-200 people at one time is simply stupid, and maybe a little greedy. We waited 30 minutes for our reservation and were only seated when we went to the manager. Then they were out of the beer and wine that was ordered. Later we found they were out of Jack Daniels - a Saturday night in Atlanta and you have no Stella, no Sweetwater 420 and no Jack Daniels - the purchasing person should be fired. Our poor waiter had been there 3 days and two of them for training - but he tried. The food - once it arrived was very good, so I can only slight them for the things they did not have, not what we ate. The scallops were outstanding. The problem was it was 2 hrs before the entrees came out and it wasn't just our table. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed. The management was apologetic - even offering to bring us back on their dime - and hopefully learned a lesson from this night. Know your limits, b/c everything else is spot on! Pros: good food, cool setting Cons: service, seated late, supply lacking, food very late more

City Comfort Food Plus ""Three Little Pigs"" 7/30/2008

Oh man, has Jay Swift got a winner on his hands. It's located on North Ave. across from City Hall East, in an old coverted loft style dairy building. This is what a big city, hip dining scene is all about. The place has legs, and has the energy to boot. Farm fresh ingredients, beautifully prepaired new Southern Style. He has taken his experience from South City Kitchen to the next level. You don't have to be Southern to enjoy his cuisine. We started with the smooth Summer Sweet Corn Soup w/Oysters Rockefeller. Did you hear us say ""wow""? George's Bank Diver Scallops Seared w/Warm Bacon Dressing, was perfect for this hot Georgia night. My partner had ""Three Little Pigs""-Loin, Belly and devine Homemade Sausage w/ incredible Mac N' Cheese. It really dosen't get any better than this. Excellent portions, and we did not leave hungry, as I have several times recently around town. No I won't name names, They know who they are, and should be ashamed at those inflated prices. Great wine list, and great service by local college students. We will be back, real soon, for a real meal. Thanks, Jay! Pros: One Of My Top Five New Restaurants Of The Season? Excellent Food! more

Thanks so much Jay! 7/30/2008

Fourth and Swift is a magnificent addition to the Old Fourth Ward, whether you are looking for a good stiff Martini mixed with love, a meticulously pattied burger of Hall County grass fed-organic beef and hand cut French Fries, or best yet the most succulent Maryland Diver Scallops.....you cannot go wrong at Fourth and Swift. The portion are as big as they are scrumptious...and there are actually great wines to be enjoyed there that are in the $20-$30 range. Pros: Food, Drinks, Food, Drinks!!!! Adorable wait staff! Cons: The liquor, beer and wine could be better arranged at bar...looks like a house party set up...but I am being too pickuy more

Delicious! Great Spot for Happy Hour Too! 7/30/2008

4th & Swift Restaurant & Bar has a modern take on american comfort food and is all-around delicious! My favorites are the Shrimp & Grits and The Crab Cake, you just can't go wrong there. And for the main course, try the Roasted Amish Chicken it is sweet and savory or the Flat Iron Steak that has a little ""kick"". The menu has something for everyone. The space is warm and cozy and the service is fantastic. The bartenders definitely know how to pour at this bar. more

Beautifully balenced fine dining/casual atmosphere. Best service in ATL 6/29/2008

Stopped in during its opening week and enjoyed every minute. Very good menu selection of seafood dishes, duck, lamb, chicken ect. Price is great for the quality and portions of their food. But the one thing that stood out the most was the great service. If you're not in the mood for a four course fine dining meal, order a burger just to experience awesome service. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT Pros: Service, Casual/Fine Dining Ambience, Amazing Food Cons: Hard to find. more
