24 Hour Fitness 11/9/2005

I have not used the day care facilities at any of these gyms, so I don't know how good they are, but I know they exist. In general the gyms are good and offer a variety of classes. I really like the yoga class with Astra at Northgate Express. I have been a member for 10 years and have never had the price go up on my membership. However, since I joined before 24 hour fitness existed (it was Family Fitness back then) I have an "active" membership and can't use the "sport" clubs. I tried to upgrade but it was way to expensive, and definetly did not seem worth it. Check out a club near you and see what they have to offer. www.24hourfitness.com more

This is a great fitness arena that has every thing that you would every need to get in shape...the hard part is fighting your way on the machine. Sometimes it gets a little busy after work hours but for the most part, you can hop on a machine and work you way out to a new body. It is very nice to have the options of going at three in the morning if you can't sleep and there are always friendly people around to help you with anything you will need. more

Great personal training/Fitness/Health program 3/9/2005

This is the Northgate location. After trying to stick to an exercise schedule on my own and failing over and over again. I joined a gym and bought 5 sessions with a personal trainer. My trainer is named Steve. I did the GEM test which determined a very accurate read on my metabolism. I know how many calories my body would burn if I sat on the couch all day. We also did the dreaded caliber test to determine my body fat (yikes). They evaluated my body alignment by observing my squats from different angles and recommended my myiofacial-release exercises. We developed a menu based on the nutrition labels of the things I like to eat. And finally, a stretching, cardio and resistance training program. I learned alot. It may not be for everyone - but if you are stuck and prone to finding every excuse not to exercise this may help. I have been sucked into buying some things. more
