We have always been big fans of the 103 in the past and were elated when we heard they were opening again and keeping it the same as the old 103.\r Yes and no.\r Was nice to see...

Good staff, Nice place, Drink prices are unreal !! 12/22/2010

We have gone here many times. Food is usually ok to good. Staff is very good but 11 dollars for a absolute bloody mary??? I can understand 8 which is high for this area but a well bloody mary is 8.99 and they add another 1.79 if you order absolute??? Sorry that is way out of line and feel ripped off. We wont be back. more

Thanks for the advice! 12/6/2010

I took the advice of the person who said to give the place a try and wasurprised at how wonderful my experience was.\r \r The waitress was very friendly, my food was warm and exactly how I had ordered it, she even made a little brownie sundae for my daugter (it was her birthday).\r \r The restaurant had a nice warm atmosphere, and I loved all of the wall hangings! :)\r \r Everyone there can count on my family and I becoming regulars! more

Better than Most 11/28/2010

I don't know where all of these other people are going, but it can't be the 103 I'm about to talk about!\r \r Everytime I go, the food exceeds my expectations (I suggest the Chicken Marsala or Chicken Fajita) I always get exactly what I ask for, and exceptional customer service.\r \r It is nice to walk in to the place and finally see a staff that knows what they are doing, seems happy to be there. The staff always looks clean and well kept. As for seeing the same people all of the time, I think it is refreshing to see new faces in the restaurant, it give the place a breath of fresh air.\r \r Instead of listening to all of the bad opinions, go there and form one for yourself, you WILL NOT be disapointed! more

unhappy customer 11/17/2010

my husband and have been going upstairs a lot lately but after last friday we will never step foot in that place again. We and everyone at the bar heard the manager screaming at one of the bartenders on the stair well right next to the upstairs bar...it was so loud that another customer went over to see what was the matter then the other bartender went over to inform him that we could all hear it. when he was done yelling the bartender went back behind the bar she looked like she was about to cry. if thats how they treat their employees there then I want nothing to do with the 103. more

Use To Be The Best 10/18/2010

I am saddened by writing this review because my friends and I always carried a special place in our hearts for the 103. It was always more than a restaurant, it was like going home and being with family.\r I am sorry to say the new owners aren't getting that. The closed bridge is not the problem. The food is still good but the staff is always different and the place feels ""cold"" now. I also feel like I am on surveillance with all the cameras that have been installed. Do they not trust their customers? Or the staff? The last time we went, we went to the attic which use to be a fun place. It's a whole different atmosphere there now from the waitresses with pants cut so low you can see the ""crack"" of dawn to the guy who is always sitting at the bar watching them. I assume he is an employee because we ordered buffalo wings from the less than respectably dressed waitress. She must have forgotten she had customers because eventually the guy from the bar brought our order to us, without dipping sauce I might add. He was eerie and I felt totally uncomfortable watching him at the bar while we waited endlessly for someone to remember we were there. Definitely NOT the old ""feel"".\r The 103 was always a hot spot with familiar friendly faces and you could always depend on seeing someone you knew there. Now the place is vacant anytime we go in. Does anyone know where any of the old staff is??\r Sorry, to the new owners, but whatever you are doing isn't working. more

Waste of time and money 2/25/2010

My wife and I were excited when this place was going to open. We have been there 3 times and each time is worse than the previous. The service is absolutely non-existent. We were seated for 20mins before our waitress ever appeared. My prime rib was cold and the mashed potato was like thick paste. My wife's chicken was well overcooked. She ordered a glass of wine that was served in a glass with a lipstick imprint on it! Come on, can't someone at least make sure that the glasses are washed!! We feel that the 3rd time is usually the charm, well, it's telling us not to bother. We will not be back!! Pros: ok atmosphere Cons: Terrible food and absent service more

So Disappointed! 2/16/2010

I always enjoyed the 103 before they closed and was really excited when they opened again. Since then I have been back three times. The first time I ordered the seared salmon on salad...so delicious! I couldn't wait to go back and try it again. The second time the salmon was not seared..it was an anemic pink with no crispy searing on it..and it tasted off. My dinner mates cold, flavorless meals too. We decided to give it one last try and I got the baked stuffed haddock with mashed potatoes...it was GROSS! The potatoes were like gray glue, the stuffing was also gluey and my sons fishermans platter smelled and tasted 'fishy'...the fish was off, and he vomited all night after we got home. I am so sorry...but we will NEVER go back, and we will tell everyone to stay away. I should have listened to a coworker that told me he had tried it after reopening and wouldn't return. Too bad. :( Pros: Location? Cons: Bad food :( more

Pleasant Surprise 2/8/2010

After all the rumors on the street I decided to check out The 103, I was scepticle. I was greeted at the door by Deb, a friendly face of the 103 for as long as I can remember. After a trip down memory lane, I chose to sit at the bar. I was greeted immediately by my bartender & ordered a beer, nice & cold the way I like it. I then opened the menu and thats when my jaw hit the floor, all my favorates are back and from what I can see the prices are back too. Many appetizers $7.00 & under. I tried the Mozzarella Wedges which were fantastic. For dinner I had The Bombay Burger, cooked perfect. I was to full for desert, but my neighbor at the bar was enjoying the Tollhouse Pie, it looked good. The place looked great & felt like home again.\r \r I took a menu home, and after having time to check it out, most all the old time favorates are back. \r \r Pros: good food, service & friendly faces Cons: none this trip more

Cannot please all of the people all of the time... 2/6/2010

My wife and I have now eaten at The 103 a half dozen times since it reopened. I just read some of the reviews and I am not sure we are all talking about the same restaurant. We ate there last night and the food was so hot I actually burned by tongue (still hurts now). The food is all fresh and cooked to order according to the chef who we spoke to a few weeks back in the dining room upstairs -- it is cooked and sent out -- no waiting. As busy as the place is I do not know how it could be any other way. The french fries were new as of this week -- the chef discontinued the hand cut fries because of the complaints about them going ""soggy"" according to our waitress (who was quite pleasant for someone who had a lot of people to keep happy). I think this stinks. Hand cut fries are the best. I would rather eat soggy hand cuts than frozen -- but the onion rings are still fresh and made to order, so I will just skip the fries. Finally, I have never, ever seen drinks like the ones we get at this restaurant. The wine glasses are big and full. The other night when we sat at the bar upstairs (beautiful, by the way) the bartender poured more than half the glass full of vodka before adding a bit of juice... I have never seen anything like it. At least double what I have received elsewhere. So, if you are driving, be careful, because these are not normal drinks. The reviews here may be mixed, but you owe it to yourself to go to The 103, try the food and, by all means, have a drink... I am hooked. Pros: Food quality and very nice drinks... Cons: New french fries more

left alot to be desired 2/5/2010

My wife and I have been dining at The 103 for years. We were very excited when it reopened but.....we have been there twice since opening night and will NEVER return. My prime rib was cold and I sent it back twice and was returned cold each time. My wife had the chicken marsala. She was extremely disappointed. the chicken was dry and tough. She chose the linguini which was just stuck together in one big heap sitting in a pool of grease in her plate. When we tried to express that we may need another chicken dish with our waitress, we were told in a very rude way, that this was not possible. Speaking of our waitress, whose name was Kim, is another story all together. She forgot our drinks and we had to remind her twice, what we had ordered. She didn't bring the sides that I had ordered with my prime rib..she was totally lost. I found that surprising since she had stated that she had been a waitress at The 103 for years. Our overall experience, on both occasions, was horrible!! We tell all of our friends to not waste their time not their money!! Pros: Nothing!! Cons: Never ending list. more

wasgreat 1/27/2010

Just went back to the 103, and we are SO HAPPY it's back! I have read a couple of ""iffy"" reviews, but I would highly recommend everyone who had a negative experience go BACK! Honestly, the new owners/chef had big shoes to fill, so expectations were high. To have only been open a month and have made as much progress as they have--it's impressive. \r \r The food is EXCELLENT, the wait staff is getting back into the groove, and the atmosphere has never been better. Love the upgrades that have been made...bars look amazing. Hang in there folks, the 103 is BACK! Pros: food is excellent Cons: only been re-opened a month--working out kinks still more

Waitress problem 1/26/2010

We have always been big fans of the 103 in the past and were elated when we heard they were opening again and keeping it the same as the old 103.\r Yes and no.\r Was nice to see some of the same old faces, like Deb and Sue, in addition to a very qualified sweet girl as the new bartender..\r However, OUR waitress left a lot to be desired. We had never seen her prior to the reopening so she must be a new addition. She was very loud and acted like we wanted to hear her problems instead of enjoying our dinner. We figured we would let her rant and at some point she would have to leave. She did. But only to go have a cigarette. That proved to be a deciding factor on ruining our meal. Every time she came to or by our table she absolutely reeked of cigarettes and I had visions of her handling my food after handling cigarettes. This totally ruined my appetite so I can't comment on how the food was.\r In the future, we will definitely let the hostess know we do NOT want to have the long dark-haired waitress with the big mouth and cigarette breath. Maybe then I can give this reopened restaurant a proper review.\r I hope the new owners take the ""smoke-free"" policy for restaurants seriously. Second hand smoke breath is just gross! Pros: Nice seeing some of the old professional faces Cons: Waitress was absolutely horrible more

Return to the 103 1/23/2010

A party of 5 returned to the 103 after it opened again. We had all been to the 103 on a fairly regular basis over the years. Everybody was excited to see the same menu, and the same layout and decor in the restaurant. The waitress was attentive, friendly, and enthusiastic. Very nice. We ordered 2 buffalo chicken fingers, a salad, a fraddock, and a small fish fry. The fish was excellent, though the cheese on the fraddock wasn't great and was discarded. The buffalo chicken was enjoyed even though the sauce seemed to be a different spice mix than the old menu. The fries were very disappointing. The flavor was ok, but they were soggy and not very hot. Either the oil was old or not hot enough or they had sat for too long. The onion rings, otoh, were excellent. We will return again and hope the fries are better. If the fries were good and the cheese had worked we would have given the experience a 5. So, we'll be back again in a while. We'd recommend the 103 for people to try. We also hope the new ownership takes the criticism as useful to improve their product so their restaurant becomes successful. Pros: Very good service Cons: Fries need work... more

Good as before 1/6/2010

I would encourage previous reviewers to try it again. Our experience was quite different. Food was very good, as before. The menu is similar. Food portions were more than adequate. I ordered the ""small"" fish & chips, it was more like a ""large"". Service was prompt and the waitress was outstanding. The restaurant looks like it used to with some upgrades. It seemed very busy for a Wednesday night, but we were seated immediately. As such, we did not make it to the bar upstairs.\r \r We would certainly recommend the 103. Pros: Excellent food and service more

HUGE disappointment 1/5/2010

After waiting for months for the reopening of the 103 I was so excited to try it out. It had been a regular dining experience for me and my friends for YEARS. Last night we went for the first time. Some nice remodeling in the bar area...same menu (hooray!), nice glass of wine...Dinner was a huge disappointment. Overdone burger on a cold roll..Overdone soggy french fries which obviously had been sitting around for quite a while. So bad I ate one and left the rest. My friend had the open turkey sandwich and the gravy wasn't even hot. I soooo want this restaurant to make it and I hope the new owners pay attention to constructive critcism from the ""regulars"". Pros: Nice granite bar top! Cons: Food does not compare.... more

Very Disappointed 1/2/2010

When it was the old 103 my family and I went very often. We celebrated birthdays, special occassions there. \r Back then you could sit upstairs and have dinner and that's where we would all sit, it was great atmosphere and just a great time, Great food we all knew the waitresses and all the staff. \r \r We just when back last night for the first time since it has re-opened, we were all very disappointed, and we were looking forward to it so much. Looking forward to our favorite meals that we haven't had since the 103 closed. \r Our waitress was terrible, not remembering what the special of the night was, what the choices with each meal were. \r My fries came out a very dark brown and greasy, I tried one and didn't eat anymore. I was SOOOO looking forward to the veggie burger (my favorite) and it was mushy, I only eat half. My fiance had chowder to start off with it looked disgusting. he said it wasn't that great. He ordered the turkey club which was very dry and just not good. We all had basically full plates at the end of the meal because it just wasn't good food. \r \r One thing that kind of annoyed us, and maybe its just us but she refilled our waters with the same glass. I thought in restaurants every re-fill had to be in a new glass per policy. She took our glasses right off the table went to the bar re-filled it and brought it right back. \r \r \r At the end of the meal our waitress had charged us wrong and that was a whole mess. Just very disappointed and I have always talked to friends that were frequent visitors and they weren't happy either. \r \r The new owners said they'd bring back the old 103 but they are ruining it. I wish I would've just kept the memories I had from before and not gone for dinner last night. more

Good and NOT so good 12/23/2009

Well first of all we always liked the old 103. So when we heard that it had reopened we decided to give them a call and see if they could accommodate our party of eight for our Christmas do. A guy answered the phone and told my wife that it would be fine for around 6:30pm Tuesday 22nd December (Same day). She then asked about the menu and was told that they are keeping the old menu as before. She was very happy with this because she liked the Salmon with a crust. The guy then explained that that item was not on the menu but that he would make sure they prepared it for her . So we booked a party of Eight. We turned up on time and were taken right to our table... Great so we thought.... Then a piece of paper was put in front of us all stating that ""Tonight is a limited Menu"" . We felt we should have been informed about this as we made our booking. Well now we are here its too late to go elsewhere so we ordered of off the VERY limited menu. Another guy then approached the table and informed my wife that they never had the crusty Salmon dish but would prepare a salmon any other way ?????. So she kept a positive attitude and went along, ( She enjoyed her meal). Two guys at the table (including myself) ordered the Fisherman's Platter. About $19. This consisted of Fish, Shrimp, Scallops and fry.s. When the Fisherman's Platters came to the table. We looked at each other and said WOW. It was loaded with a bed of frys, there were 5 shrimp some fish and tiny tiny scallops, they were about the same size and thickness as a penny. It looked like they were short and decided to slice a scallop in four so that it looked like four scallops. :( I have to say the food was tasty, the waiter was good, we had a good time. but five out of eight of us will not go back. Too bad. You need to let your customers know whats going on BEFORE they book . Pros: Good Waiter, Food taste good. Cons: Limited Menu, Small portion, more
